I love this album. I lived in Africa in the past and I will be going back for good. I am a nurse now so I have something to offer as a volunteer. Listening to Babatunde's drums fills me with such great joy. I find.myself swaying back and forth, back and forth to their rhythm. I begin to understand, just a little, how a person can be ridden by the spirit. I know that Africa is full of spirits - each place has a spirit that is all its own. In1982, I met the spirits in a wild place in Botswama in the Okavango Delta. A herd of elephants led me and they were not afraid. They say, in Kiswahili, that the word.for elephant is Tembo and represents the mighty spirit of Africa herself. And they accepted me and I them. I was so privileged to be allowed to share that place in space and time with them.
My 2nd father, Baba took me to Africa 4 times. We spent over 3 months in Ghana and South Africa and I worked his Esalen workshops from 1993 to 1999. His memory lives on in all he touched with his prayers and music.

I attended a drum damce workshop of The Master in Toronto Canada in the early 90's. He got the whole room of people to say AHHHHHH together alltogether, & it(we, voices of all nations) sounded like a giant pipe organ. It was a very powerful moment and I will never forget it. He knew stuff I wish we all had time to know about, so amazing. I went as a drummer to learn and It was beyond what i could have asked for. I also politely asoed for his autograph from one of the ladies who helped him get around, and she took my cassette tape liner backstage to see if he would, and I still have it today. God sent an angel when he created Babatunde Olatunji.🙏🕺🏼🇨🇦👊🏻👨🌾💖🍁🐝🌻🍄🌲🙌✌
This beat wnd ways of drumming... So so simple, when played... I am not a born drummer, but the beats, rhythm and energy put in to it.. i totally understand... High energy music... Thus me never resting if i were to be around... Non-stop dancing. Ooo..☝🏽

Wow..I never knew this existed til today!! Omg. I was there!! What a great show and festival. And Sanga of the Valley was my first ever drum teacher back in 1994. Wow has time flown by. RIP Baba I'm sure you're drumming in heaven!! Ashe!!
Studying with Sanga must have been a blast! Baba came out to Hawaii to join Arthur Hulls Hawaiian Drum Circle Facilitators workshop one year for about 3 days, it was magical!
