The nose cone is not part of the pressurised structure of the aircraft and are made of composite material so as not to inhibit the signals from the radar equipment mounted behind. The landing was merely precautionary as the equipment behind the dome could be damaged and that would impact aircraft performance. I once remember an albatross penetrating the nose cone of a Boeing 747.
