    There was a guy in Poland around 35 years ago who did build his own plane and fly it successfully. The guy was a farmer with no engineering or flying background. He has visited the local flying club, spoke to mechanics, had a short flight as a passenger in the plane and then disappeared. 2 years later he was flying his own plane!

      @@jayvonpryor1956 I would imagine he is referring to the title of the video "homebuilt aircraft without engineering knowledge" making a case that engineering is not required to build a successful airplane. However... as the examples in this video make clear, you might not need an engineering degree to build an airplane, but you should probably not be a complete idiot hahahaha!!! Those guys are dumber than a brick! Scrap metal cobbled together with WEE WOO lights on it and a spinny wooden stick on an engine that goes BRRRR does not make a successful aircraft LMAO!

      @Mr. Anonymous I suspect that is partially true... however... the amount of videos I've seen where they all seem to have cell phones and laptops and books... leads me to believe while it may be difficult to acquire knowledge, it is not impossible and therefore I must conclude they are not interested in learning before they try building.

    Disgusting to see how these guy’s are ridiculed, by 1st world citizens with easy access to education, supply and support. However - contrary to many of us - They do actually have the courage to dream, the determination to continue and no need to do 30 narcissistic TH-cam videos with endless bla bla. The dream and actually pursue it is thousand fold more worth than sitting in front of a screen and making pathetic comments. It’s easy for anyone in the 1st world to order a set of plans for building a small aircraft. It’s even easier to order a kit and put it together. Yet when it comes to completing an aircraft probably less than 20% of projects started will actually see a first flight! For aircraft designed by the builder himself this may be less than 1% Then compare the determination shown by the guy’s in the video. My hat off to these guy’s, and yes I have been in Africa and successfully built 3 aircraft.

  • @maxkronader5225

    Wow. Without engineering?
    Most of those designs look like they were made by folks who've never even seen a diagram of any kind of aircraft. They're extraordinarily fortunate they couldn't get them into the air, as a flight would almost certainly have been fatal.

      @Stesilaus Investment isn't the problem, it's the lack of education. I met indigenous professional airline mechanics in several African countries. They attended school and studied hard in order to become qualified mechanics. They don't build airplanes but they do maintain them. Africans can learn how to design and build airplanes, but tinkering in a back yard without ever going to school is not the way to do it. In the early decades of aviation Westerners had to experiment, there was nothing else to go by. But they studied all the available information first, and they paid for their own experiments. Governments didn't give out grants unless the entrepreneurs had proven themselves.

    • @bigglestheflyboy
      @bigglestheflyboy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cargopilot747 I must admit that in all the historical flying programs I've seen there is nothing quite so ridiculous as these aircraft. Honestly, even western schoolchildren would never seriously think these things would fly. I know education can improve people, but is there a real aircraft company in Africa that designs and builds viable aircraft that actually fly??

    • @cargopilot747
      @cargopilot747 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bigglestheflyboy Well the Republic of South Africa has come up with a few successful light airplane designs, by educated experienced individuals. But the rest of Africa has never been successful in that regard. And there isn't likely to be any such success for decades, partly because of systemic corruption. Indonesia is far less corrupt, yet their noble attempt to get the IPTN 250 into production was unsuccessful largely for that reason (corruption -- bureaucrats and company execs stealing money meant to go into development, tooling, etc.). Some Africans would undoubtedly be able to successfully assemble a kit if they could import one. But even attempting to construct one from plans (no kit) using supplies available locally, would undoubtedly fail. If they can't obtain aircraft-quality aluminum at the right gauge, they'd probably substitute iron sheet or something else way too heavy. "Positive thinking" isn't all it takes.

    Something's fishy here. Is the narrator making fun of these efforts. Were they chosen especially to make fun of? They look like those ridiculous first attempts in aviation history. Today, with just the image of a real airplane in one's mind the layman can sense:
    1 when wings are disprportionately small
    2. when a helicopter rotor blades belong on a toy (forget about airfoils, torque forces, swash plates and such)
    3. When the whole structure is too heavy, frail, unbalanced
    4 when the engine is underpowered.
    I know all that stuff casually with no tech background and eith no intention ever to build a plane
    What I'm saying is, why would anybody make a video about this AND treat it seriously, knowing that African countries have local qualified professional pilots, engineers, private pilots, small plane builders - planes that fly?
    If you're just presenting a village curiosity, that's fine. But the tone of the narrator is farcically serious. Is this for real or are we being punked?

      Nope.
      The Wrights actually built a little wind tunnel. Tested prop design. Wing Design. Had a purpose built engine designed.
      They actually accumulated valid data and applied that to their flying machine design.
      They used their heads, and reasoned things out at a time when nobody even knew what an airplane was supposed to look like.
      The guys in these videos are simply putting together things that look like airplanes. Then seeing if they will fly.
      They are not trying to understand any theory or concepts of flight.

    I HAD A DREAM THAT ALL MEN COULD REACH FOR THE SKY AND REALIZED THE DREAM OF FLIGHT IS NOT LIMITED TO THE NATIONS OF ANGLO SAXON PROTESTANTS BUT AFRICANS TOO. WELL I BUILT MY FIRST PLANE AT 8 YRS OUT OF FLAT PIECES OF PLYWOOD IT HAD A WINGSPAN OF 30" AND IT DID NOT FLY. I LEARNED FROM OTHERS WHO KNEW HOW TO BUILD MODEL PLANES AND THEN I WAS SUCCESSFUL.

      I'm an Anglo Saxon Catholic that built my first powered model airplane out of balsa wood-- and it flew.

    Just make a small air craft that actually fries with no person inside on a remote control with all your knowledge and enough research
    Then later transfer it into a bigger one to save life and money

      @@chippyjohn1: You DO need to go up in an actual plane, 'cause a computer screen won't teach you what the controls feel like when in the air. ANYBODY can fly a flight simulator, but it's nowhere near the real thing. When you crash in a simulator, you just start over. When you crash in real life, you may die. Flying in real life gets your heart pumping more than in front of a computer screen. It makes you have to think fast, or die. These gentlemen have never been up. They would panic, then die without proper training in an airplane designed to actually fly.

    It seems to me that your using materials that are too heavy,you need atleast fiber glass,also engines that are light but powerful.
    If you have a dream chase it,but shed a lot of weight and good luck.

    Oscar, as you may have anticipated, many of the viewer comments will suppose that this post is racist. If they just check your channel out, it is a legitimate and well crafted series of videos which are very good and informational. As most of us know, the Internet is full of videos which are known as "fails". These are usually where people attempt something risky, and the results are sometimes comical and thus entertaining. These also were quite humorous, but also showed the dedication and perseverance of well-meaning attempts to accomplish a dream, from the very beginning steps - with a long, long way to go. Good work! I'm subscribed. 😊
