I live a few miles from BMS ,on a hill,in a mobile home. I woke up this morning to a large hickory tree on my roof and power was knocked out a few hours later. Don't know what I am going to do about the tree. No property insurance because I cannot afford it. Living on less than $600 ss a month is hard. But I'm thankful it wasn't worse.
I'd love to have the wood. Is it dangerous where it is? Would it take equipment to remove it or is it small enough for people to cut it away from your roof? Glad you are ok
I know when my son went through hurricane Florence in 2018 the community really banned together and helped out. He bought his home at 22 and was hit by storm one year later. His property is almost an acre. The house had 3 feet of water, so he was concentrating on gutting the interior. I got on Facebook and found a church 2 hours away that was organizing help. I put his name on the list and a crew of about 12 people showed up at his house with chain saws and all necessary equipment. When they left about 5 hours later he had 4 huge piles of debris. He and I could not believe the outpouring of help that came to the community to help. So I am sure that someone or group will help just give it some time to get organized as this is a huge event across a vast area. Just be careful of who contact because there are a lot of people that will try and take advantage of situation, sadly. Like for instance claim they got injured on your property and turn around and sue you.Try reaching out to local churches maybe.

I see forrest was cleared. What a shame for these people. May be a few months or 50 to 100 years this will happen again. It is a natural flood area. Know where to build. Know where NOT to have a residential area! Hoping people there will remove themselves from that area.
