Matt doesn't realize it , but he's starting to like class B's....
    Likes: the lower bedroom

Would like to see: with the back door open a extended screen room for more living space.

    Hey #vanlife guys
I would love to see that unit on an AWD Transit. It's small enough to be a daily driver, could easily carry some lumber etc for those DIY projects, as well as be your camper. This could be parked in residential areas where RVs are not allowed. If it's your daily driver what can they do. Matt, as far as your feelings on the seating position, I understand your feelings and then I rented one recently and ended up loving the driver's view etc. Just takes getting used to. The hood just slopes a little more than the Transit. The Transit AWD drives like a sport sedan. Very tight. Please Winnebago. My first of 14 RVs was a VW pop top. I loved sleeping in the " loft". Good review my #vanlife friends. General RV has made a stellar decision to use you full-time. Love your reviews. You make a great team.

    Three things I love:
    1. Great value for all it offers. Solar, pop top, garage area, outdoor shower with door curtains.
    2. Pop up and bed in back.
    3. Storage capacity. I want a full time RV and this is one that is close to storage needs.
    Three things I don't like;
    1. Small fridge.
    2. No TV
    3. Was there a microwave/convection oven?
Is this 4 season? If not, that's a big issue.
Some Roadtrek models, the smaller ones have a small wetbath with a drain in the galley floor.
    I want this RV!

You two are awesome! I love that you showed it in real life just like we would all be doing it for the first time. 😊 Thank you for being real. 💗
    Likes:
    1. That big shower area in the back with the pole across! How cool!!
    2. Omg I can’t believe how many features they packed into this tiny van! The storage everywhere you look!
    3. They still found a way to give you an indoor bathroom. Wow.
    4. Most important to me is the easy to make giant bed in the back! I love that it flips so easily and the table option.
    Dislikes:
    1. Hard to actually use the shower. Don’t tease me like that. LOL 😆
    2. I don’t need the pop up with all the other features and the big bed in back. I would rather have a regular roof with solar.
    3. Class B’s never have enough fridge. 🤷🏼‍♀️

  • @nooner59

#VANLIFE I could see this as an option.
    Three things I like:
    1. Outside shower setup - Matt didn't set it up right, but it's pretty cool. I wonder if Winnebago sells a setup to make an outdoor room over the open rear doors.
    2. Reminds me of my 1978 VW camper with the pop-top. I might even choose to sleep up there if I can haul my old butt up there. There is so much more storage though, just amazing, and the kitchen is magnificent. It looks like the driving experience would be similar, it looks like it has that cab-over-wheels look to it.
    3. The Murphy bed below is awesome. You can carry whatever you want in the back, bikes, surfboards, kayaks, outdoor screen patio; that's awesome.
    Three things I don't like"
    1. The indoor bathroom is more trouble than it's worth. There's no vent for the bathroom (it'd have to be a side vent). The old VWs didn't offer them, and I think that's still true up to the last production year. They might could have a N-S bed then.
    2. No awning. Hopefully you can have it as an option.
    3. It seems pretty expensive. The Tofino would be another option on the same platform, although it is shorter.
    Matt vs. the ladder #Vanlife

Dislikes: 1. All the engineering you have to do in order to use this RV, put the ladder together, assemble the curtain rod, lifting the loft (seemed to be heavy), converting the bed. 2. Not sure about the cab area, I agree with Matt, just seems a little high. 3. Price on class B RV's seems to be really high.
Likes: 1. Storage in the kitchen and bedroom area. 2. Kitchen counter space. 3. Screens on back and side doors.

This class B is impressive. Perhaps Winnebago could do a color variation on the floor to separate the step area from the rest of the floor. That monochromatic gray color just allows both floor levels to blend in too easily. If done tastefully, it could add...maybe an Art Deco accent. 😉 As for the wet bath, I think they could engineer a waterproof “roll top”, but vertically moving door as the solution for additional space in the bathroom. If one section in the storage area above the cab had a metal panel, a small tv could be attached by a magnetic bar. The tv could be stored in that area as well. Just some ideas that could possibly make #vanlife a little more homelike. Matt and Andrea bring so much enthusiasm to every review. Their honesty and humor brings me back for more.

This is the 59PX not the 59P so this version is roughly $30,000 more than the 59P because it has an air conditioner. The 59P does not have air conditioning. Thor also already makes the same van without it looking so industrial on the inside. Thor Tellaro 20AT and also the Thor sequence 20A at a lower price point with lithium batteries included.
Basically, Winnebago copied Thor and Thor preamptively crushed Winnebago 2 years prior.
Thor also does not use those half ass cut out windows. Instead they have full-size windows that look way better and have nicer blinds. The A models are the only ones that also have the cassette toilet. The G model and L model have black tanks which make it a lot less versatile.
Class B’s require a lot of research to do reviews on them.

    • @robertsheward9336
      @robertsheward9336 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The MSRP on the PX is approx. $16k more than a P, Matt's price of 89k is a great price generally they go from $90k on up, I had a salesman at Giant in California brag to me that they were selling them at full retail $119k and he couldn't keep them in stocks at that price, I went to La Mesa the next day and bought one for $94k
In the Cherry Red color which is a $2k upgrade. You will almost always pay more in California for a "B" van!

    • @fishernate
      @fishernate 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Love you guys! Got my husband hooked too. He said today that Matt is more like him than he is. lol. We own an older class B and love this new design especially the extra pop top bed, the big storage in the back and the extra seat belted seating. What we don't like about it is no microwave or convection and no outdoor storage but the deal breaker for us is the bathroom. It is even smaller than the one we already have in our B which is already a challenge for my husband. Thank you Matt and Andrea.

Maybe an American thing, but everywhere else in the world these are extremely popular because you can drive them on any road and park them in a regular car park. The American style oversize motorhome simply wouldn't fit on most of our roads, you'd be confined to freeways only which isn't much fun.

I guess I should put #Vanlife in my comments! I think if I was trying to do more "stealth camping" this would be a good choice. Things I like: that 1800+ lb carrying capacity, that onboard generator (assuming it matches the same fuel as the van) and, that popup. Things I don't like: the uneven flooring, which is a trip hazard, don't try to walk around while it's going down the road, and I'm still not a fan of that murphy bed. I'd really want an awning (mechanical is fine), since that might add some living space if it had screened in walls.
It all depends upon what folks want. I'm a towable/Class C fan. I don't dislike this camper, but it's not what I'd want. I do have to admit, this camper can camp anywhere, from boondocking at a beach, to a few days in a Walmart, to a few days at a friend's house. So you could save a lot of $ by not staying at a campground. This is the kind of camper that you could drive across the US, visit dozens of places, and park anywhere.

MAT don't be mad at me but I will most likely buy two Motor homes. I will buy for in town or any drive that will be over 60 mins. I will use the Hyundai Motor home . Its MUCH better than this van and other vans and the pricing fully load is under 80k. Small and very smartly layout. I have two kiddos with Autism and they always have to stop to use the bathroom. Now for when we do real road trips, I will mostly buy a class Super C with bunk-beds or a Super Motor Home with bunk-beds. I need washer and dryer, I like the bunk-beds in the back of the RV. I need two 1.5 bathrooms, tvs, heated floors. etc. Smile I have my plan. Smile..thanks for doing what you do!

Hard for me to do a list, so here's my thoughts. I think this looks like a nice weekender for a family with younger kids. Seatbelts for four all facing forward, and sleeping room in the loft for two kids. A step up from tent camping, but can also be used to drive people around town, and load up some lumber in the back.
That said, for my uses (if I could get into the loft, which is not likely), I could see something like this as a great idea. I'd just want the lower area with no bed in the back, and instead a larger kitchen and wet bath and more storage. That's pretty specific to a 1-2 person setup that I couldn't really make use of anyway, but it seems like a better use of the space. I have trouble seeing something this size as made for 4 people.
I do want to add my one very big like, which is the lower bed area (considering what I just said above … lol). I think that's a really well designed setup for sleeping and storage and would like to see it in something without the loft or the front dinette. It reminds me of their Revel model that has bump-outs to make that an almost 80" bed. Again, I see these as 2 person vans, so seating and sleeping 3-4 people doesn't have to be part of every design.
    Edit: #vanlife

I just don't understand why class b's are so expensive. I used to be in the luxury conversion van business. We put the Windows in, insulated the van, used a 3/4 ton loaded chassis, added rear heat and AC, used top of the line seating, leather and wall fabrics and lots of walnut trim with a gorgeous finish and put the high top on and tons of electronics and full body paint and nice wheels for a dealer cost of under $10k in 2000. I know things have gone up, but WOW these B prices are nuts.

For awhile there I thought I was watching Matt's RV Abuse! :^P Very nice of you to branch out to class B's though, Matt! #vanlife kudos!
    Likes:
    1. Interior space for bikes.
    2. 12 volt quiet A/C and quiet generator.
    3. Clever, versatile use of space.
    Dislikes:
    1. Fridge too small. I'd probably buy a Dometic Portable Fridge / Freezer unit and put it under the murphy bed.
    2. No microwave.
    3. Battery location. AGM batteries can live under the coach, but it would be hard to upgrade to lithium with that location due to heat and cold.

A Class B got us interested in RV's again, but we're looking at C's mostly now. Winnebago has done a nice job on this one. My biggest objections to a B is the wet bath and you have to travel REALLY lightly. Nearly all Class B's are a bit on the pricey side when compared with other RV options.
    Likes:Ram chassis sits up high
    Outdoor shower
Overall good use of space, especially that smuggler hold in the floor in the back under the bed
Dislikes:So many zippers - I feel like I'm in my old Jeep Wrangler just waiting for one of those things to break
No microwave or oven, or more obviously, convection/microwave
As mentioned above, Class B prices are just too much, although you guys have this one priced well comparatively speaking.

I agree. I can't wait to start seeing these on that Ford chassis.
@N Pooch I believe that this is the cheapest compared to Ford and Mercedes, and also that the Dodge has a slightly wider interior space? I'm not a fan of the chassis, but that seems to be the main benefits.

Matt. Thank you for all the information you provide. I do have a favor to ask, when reviewing any RV, please show us both with the slides in and out. Just to make it available to know if we can use either kitchen or rest room while it's all closed up while traveling instead of having to pull over and look for a rest area. Thanks!

Like- the pop top, convenient size and Murphy bed. Dislikes- the shelf that the Murphy bed rests on. (Seems like unused space), step that Andrea almost fell on. (I’ve seen a B that has a step cover to eliminate that problem). And the size of the bathroom. #Vanlife.

I bought the Solis XP which is the version with AC. I love it. Added sumo springs which made a huge difference in handling.
Dislike: 1. Generator hangs way down. Limits ground clearance. 2. The step right behind the seats. 3. No way to hook up water hose on outside. 4. Hate seat adjustment lever!!!
Like: 1. So versatile - everything you need is there. 2. The Murphy bed allows hauling big items. 3. It’s attractive yet functional. More storage than I expected.

They wind test these pop tops up to some pretty gnarly wind speeds, if that's your concern. If you mean safety, then you might be thinking of the wrong use case. I wouldn't really use the pop top if I'm sitting in a Wal-Mart parking lot or a city street or anything like that, obviously. This is made to be boondocking out in nature. When people boondock in nature they often leave their doors and windows wide open anyway to enjoy the breeze and see the stars.

8:12 That drain is just the grey water tank. In this unit there's a cassette toilet and the door is that rectangle to the upper left at that timestamp. You unlock the door, push open the two buttons and take out the cassette toilet; it has a long handle like a suitcase so you can wheel it if you want, and dump it in some toilet or dump station. Hope this helps!

Finally, a class B that isn't overpriced. The diagonal uneven floor in the front is a real liability. Bring the whole floor up and add storage bins like you did in the bed area. That outdoor shower area is too cumbersome.
We'd love to purchase a class B like this but we don't need the sports space in back or have children to take with us at this stage. So why not a version with the bath in back, with the murphy bed, with more storage space up front where the bath was, get rid of the extra belted chairs for even more storage, perhaps a bigger frig and more counter space and a microwave (with the option of not putting in the stove top -- we stopped cooking with that years ago), perhaps even save costs on not having the pop up consistent with a camper for 2 people. So close, Winnebago!

Omg! I loved this video review. We are actually at the Winnebago factory in Forest city Iowa getting warranty work on our 2020 Winnebago Intent 30R done right now. We visited Lichtsinn RV here and toured a Solis. We loved so manny things about this class B. We love the Travato, but the price point isn’t right for us. The Solis does everything we want and more! You guys even pointed out things we didn’t notice like the storage under the floor and Especially the windows In the pop top.
We have been playing with the idea of driving a large class A and towing a class B. Now, this could be a reality for us.
Thank you so much. Please keep doing these video reviews. I live for these!!!!

I’ll have to disagree on this one-this isn’t the best class B I’ve seen by far. The best layout I’ve ever seen in a class b is the Leisure Travelvan Unity. It is incredible. For me, sure, the pop up roof bed is great, but there are so many others doing it already. Hymer is the leader of course, but the Airstream Interstate Nineteen & the 5 Mars Imagine are more that I would choose before this one. Maybe it was the camera angle, but y’all looked incredibly cramped, even for a class B. Anyway, 3 things I like: 1- rooftop bed with all the windows. 2- the built in zip up privacy shades; 3- the built in storage in the floors. Things I didn’t like: 1- that wet bath would be a dealbreaker alone for me; 2- the fridge was too small I’d have preferred they do a cabinet with a pull out domestic chest fridge/freezer; 3- the back bed area- where was the sofa? Was the cushion on the left supposed to serve as the sofa space? And if so, the table that pulled down was as high as the seating. I think we’ll have to agree to disagree on this one.

    1. sleeps and seats 4
    2. can also be used as a toy hauler
    3. the loft
The 3 things I don't like about this motorhome:
    1. the fridge and the pull out for extra counter space should be switched
    2. the step ups
    3. no microwave convection oven
I'm guessing the toilet swivels around so you can have room to take shower. #vanlife
