Awesome videos!!! My #1 tactics for walleye is trolling with crankbait like hot'n'tot or flicker shad, catch a lot of walleyes and great for covering a ton of water
I just came across your Channel, and I greatly appreciate your thoroughness explaining your techniques and rigs. I hope that you and your family are doing well & your Channel is still active. This is one of the best fishing tutorials I've come across! .👊🏾🔥🔥🔥
Spinner rigs work great to get a bite but I rarely get bigger fish. I tend to get the bigger bites on jigs and jiggin raps so I will switch to those when I find them. I have gotten some bigger ones on cranks as well.
I saw walleye suspended at 15 ft all over the lake last summer, but had no success catching them. What comes to mind first when you hear this? Thx for the practical video with lots of easy to follow detail.
Could be walleye. Maybe they are cisco or whitefish. I'd try casting a slow sinking jerkbait to them simply because jerkbaits are one of my favorite ways (not always the most productive but can be) to catch walleye and when they want it they will try rip the rod right out of your hand.
Great videos Nick!! I like to use spinners with crawlers or leeches also slip bobbers mainly. I need to start using jigging raps and search baits and drop shot rigs I think it will help me out. In the spring always a jig or lindy rigs.
My #1 is an Erii Deary with green night crawler. Cast, let drop, slow retrieve. The Thousand islands. Catches Walleye, Bass and Pike. This out catches all my other tackle combined. Cheers
Great vid! I fish on Lake of the Woods (near Kenora, Ont). Mid summer I primarily use 3/8 jig with hand tied single hook trailer with nightcrawler and jigging raps. I have also been switching it up with a drop shot/crawler at times.
It would be fishing the same type of areas. Early in the year like this, it's fishing flats like the one in the video, making a lot more casts, covering water. Later in the year, it's fishing specific structure (points, inside corners, sharp breaks) or just fishing cover (deep rock piles or weed lines). The cool thing is you can still learn from watching videos with guys using high-end technology. Understanding how fish layout on certain types of spots, etc
Love this channel. I'm a northern angler and always liked lindner like channels or those who focus on pike, walleye, smallmouth bass. Midwest and northern angler and I don't have access to lunker largies
Sup with TH-cam lately?! Not even notifying me when your vids are posted. Smdh. Awesome vid Nick. What was that fabric you had your spinner blades on? That were ready to go.
I appreciate it, Wes! It's a really old rig from VMC, not made anymore. I'm on the hunt for an upgrade. I'll make sure to throw it in a video if I find something good.
Thanks Nick! What size swivel are you using for everything? Seems like the same size for all your rigs? I have finally been able to put together a decent jiggen rap program this summer. Especially when I find them stacked on my graph!
I like to use ball bearing swivels whenever I can. In that case, I'll go with the smallest size I can get my hands on, usually either size 0 or size 1. Otherwise, a size 8 in a normal swivel is my go-to. I've been using the SPRO Power Swivels lately.
Awesome tips Nick another great lure is the blade bait I stumbled on that technique last yr it was unreal cast it out give it a rip pause and repeat back to the boat
I live in Montana and fish big reservoirs with no electronics and no gas motor Just a trolling motor so most of the time I'm just guessing. I pick up a lot of fish bouncing spinners, but its hit and miss. Would you have any advice for me on other methods to no electronics?
Trolling is always a good option with no electronics, so good call with the bouncers. Trolling cranks can be super deadly this time of year, too, so I'd give that a rip.
Is it common for someone to rip blade baits? I got hooked(no pun intended) on walleye fishing when I went to Minnesota a month or so ago. Do you rip baits vertically when you fish? There doesn't seem to be much walleye here in Oklahoma but I still gotta give it a shot.
It's not super common to fish blade baits, but that not because they don't work. It's an oldie-but-goodie that never should have went out of style in my opinion!
@@NickLindnerdo a beard and whole face if you do. I thought the ones with just a mustache looked odd, like something out of a movie where Bruce Willis glues on a mustache and he’s a hit man! I thought it was out of place but a beard with it would probably be more natural, but, hey, just how it strikes me. Great tips on the set ups. I’m just getting back into fishing the last 9 weekends after 10-12 years, and I’ve had the most results on my Mitchell rod and spinning-reel; using 20 lb braided with 10lb fluorocarbon lead about 18” long and a 10 gram slip bobber with a 1/16oz bullet weight with a bead below the weight to protect my knot and one above the bobber, but I found the larger beads work better and tend to get stuck less than the small ones that typically come with the bobber stop kits! I tried live night crawlers on a 1/0 circle hook, and has worked well at catch big bass cat fish and Sunfish. It even works well if you’re trying to catch Blue Gills for fishing catfish! I started using the Snell knot, and it has done well for strength and how the bait is presented, especially live Minnows! If you’re fishing bottom, and leave the 18” leader, the minnows can swim about; I keep the same set up minus the slip bobber and let the minnow drag the small bullet weight around!

That’s a great way to find biters!
Thanks for doing these detailed videos for bait types. It's super helpful.
I'm glad you're finding them useful! 👍
Awesome videos! With clear concise instructions and demos! Love it
Hope it helped!

Well explained. On float rigging is very important to have braid as main line, because is floats. Mono will sink slowly, hard to get a hookset.
Floating line is key!

They could be tight lipped walleye, but also might be baitfish. Tough to say

That's a fish-catcher, too, for sure!
There is nothing better than the ol lindy rigg just a hook line and sinker
It's classic and straight-up works!

Thanks Alex! Really appreciate the feedback. It's good to know folks are getting value out of the content. 👍
I like the jig and crawler. I use that a lot in deep water.
It’s ultra effective
Nice overview. You are a good teacher. Thx.
Thanks Monte, I really appreciate it
Great info, I don’t see many people talking about ripping blade baits. Do you use them?
I've used them some, but definitely not enough. They work great!
Thanks for the great info. Now I need to get a feel for catching Walleye. Lol
Best of luck!!

@@NickLindner thanks a lot
I smoke them on the Alabama rig 🤣 brett might enjoy that lol
Haha, yup! Brett's the only one crazy enough to commit serious time to that one. Not to say it shouldn't work 🤷♂️
👀👏👏👏
I’m confused on the weight and size for the jigging rap and puppet minnow. What do I need for fishing a lake just like he is?
Anything between 1/2oz and 1oz works good

Dropshots are my favorite
how do you fish the dropshot? @@NickLindner
@ drag it. Very subtly shake it in place
My #1 summer walleye tactic - spinner rigs.
I want to try drop shot soon.
100% It's tough to beat spinners in some situations this time of year.
#1 in my books is 3/8 1/4 oz jig and minnow bait love the Ned minnoe by savage gear

Hello from Ohio I like using Hopkins spoons for walleye in the summer Thank you
Right on David!
Slip bobber rig
Killer tool
Trick number one, have a fishing boat with sonar and drop the bait right in front of the walleye. One hell of a trick!
It helps, but all these tactics catch 'em no matter what technology you have.
Use two bobber stops to keep from sliding on braid ;)
One of my favorite tricks haha

I really like your channel! The green fake nightcrawlers your buddy had looked like they were real/moving…..was that my imagination?
Those were real night crawlers that were dyed green!
Casting Harnesses on a 7'3" lite (moderate fast action) rod with a 3/8 oz inline weight, killer for weedbeds in 10 - 15 FOW

Thanks Gerard
My go to summer walleye tactic is Slow Death.
That’s a killer!
#1 summer tactic for me is trolling the weedlines 10-15 ft with a husky jerk on leadcore
That's a killer way to catch 'em too!
Braid works best when you are holding the pole. Mono when trolling.
Makes sense!
Great info. Thanks.
Thanks Larry!

No crankbaits?
Cranks work great, too! Maybe I should have did more than 5
Love it 😎

Most fishing videos exclude the shore fishermen. So when I see a fishing video that people are fishing from a boat, I pass on it.
Thanks for stopping by Jeff. I think I only shot one shore fishing video this spring!

Is his dad Al lindner? If so he is an icon for walleye and many species. Not just another guy telling you how to present a beer can to a bass.
The music is just unneeded noise. Your better than that.
