that paint job is amazing I love that color and the car is great too, I don't need 700 hp or 12 inch screens just put the top down and go for a drive

I have a 2013 Beetle 2.0T convertible. I love it but it needed a couple mods. I gave it an APR ECU and TCU tune to give it great power and to be able to keep it in the power range (272 HP, 298 torque). I also gave it a sport suspension w/ H&R springs and Koni Yellows. It's very sporty if you are willing to put a little money into it. Important to mention is you can raise and lower the top while driving up to 30 mph! Thank you for the review! I'll be sad if they stop making these great cars.

I don't see the "infotainment" system as a con. Some people only want a (relatively) simple head unit that'll play their preferred choice of music media, not a big distracting system that demands way too much driver attention to perform even the simplest tasks.
I had a 1968 red beetle it was fantastic only had a a.m. radio in it but I always carried for fan belts because they broke and you had to replace them under the engine was in the back of the car and only took about 10 minutes what happened was Jetta took over the beetle that's why they don't sell them anymore but this green one is just fantastic if I could find one I would definitely buy it 🇩🇪💯👍

Awesome vid Sarah, as all yours are:) That color is beautiful, and I agree the tan goes well with it.
I had a Jetta (1,8 Turbo) in that amazing green color - with the tan interior. Had to get it trucked down from Northern Cali because it was the only one in the state. Other than that, I'm a fan of 2 doors, convertibles and convertibles that seat 4. There are so few quirky cars anymore, it just gives me more reason to love the Beetle convertible. Makes me smile.
they should try make the beetle RR again rather than FF, it'll probably be more fun than the out going car

Nice review! A lady down the street had (I haven’t seen it in a few months) a beetle hardtop in red with the 2.0 liter, manual with the spoiler. I think the trim was the R-Line. Probably a 2014 or 15. Every time I’d drive past that car I’d be struck by how much I liked it. My wife seriously thought about buying one. She ended up with a Jetta GLI but I did get to test drive the Beetle. I think you hit the nail on the head. Puts a smile on your face.

That is a really nice color. They ruined the bug when they switched from the rear engine air cooled motor and stick. You did a great presentation.

My last was a red convertible 2009 and it was just so cool to cruise around in early morning or late evening with the top down. My cowboy hat fits....LOL

I agree with you. I own a 2013 with a six speed manual and a 2.0 turbo. I absolutely adore it, and it gets compliments all the time. It's too bad that everyone just wants the same thing as their neighbors, that thinking always kills off anything that isn't a copy of everything else.

I think it’s safe to say that you have very unique define stile car review, that I love to watch. You get to the points on the cars that at least from my point of view it could be very helpful to start considering a car or not.
I love Bugs and that is one gorgeous color combo. Tan and green go good together.😀
To me this would be the perfect platform to make an all electric version with a range of 300+ miles. I personally would like the painted interior and that radio, while it’s not a sleek as a infotainment model, will probably last for many years with its simplicity!

You're right Sarah,..that color is beautiful, at least in the bright sun. The top and interior color of tan, is also a good match.
To me though, it seems that Volkswagen has kind of, lost their way, with the idea of the VW Beetle, and that's a pity.
In my opinion, they ( VW ) should still offer the manual shift option and as well, they should have stayed with rear engine and drive system too.
Reg Sparkes a beetle riding on it's own unique platform with a unique engine and transmission setup wouldn't be anywhere near cost effective. The only reason they kept this thing around is because it shares everything with the golf making it easy to produce
it shares with the MKVI golf which hasn't been sold in the US since 2014.

My favorite V.W. period. A green convertible> What's not to like? Make mine the sea trim for the good fender sound system and I'm good with top down cruising.
It's sad to hear VW giving up on the Beetle, the car that made the brand a historic & international icon. That's like Ford giving up on the F-series truck or Mustang. Maybe the upcoming VW Bus "ID Buzz" will bring that cool retro vibe back. TFL and Sarah-N-Tuned are both great!

I love my Beetle TDI too. I will keep him long time and take care of him. It's just a Character Car in this boring Crossover Market. Great Car and the Bottle Green looks great with the beige! 😊👍
I'm also in Arizona (in Phoenix) and I'm not a big convertibles guy. we get so much sun here and it gets so hot that when I'm in my car I want to shade myself from the fiery ball of death. Also, I feel like a car should cost less if it has a roof made out of fabric.

Daniel Reigada Yeah you would think not having a metal roof would make the car cost less but the structural reinforcements that are necessary for a convertible to be rigid and the electrical motors and components that go into the convertible top are costly. There’s a saying in the car industry that if the top goes down, the price goes up.
Within the world of convertibles, a fabric top does cost less than a folding metal one...

That Boxster platform idea is legit genius. Give it a race clutch from an older VW model, offer a dune bug trim and roll cage option, dumb down the mechanical design a little for easier repair / servicing, keep the interior super basic but cruise-able, sell it as an entry-level baby racer like Mini used to be, support AWD and turbo modders...aim pricing at the MX-5.

I loved my bug (2.0 turbo, Manual), but recently traded for a S3.
I bought my daughter a 2010 to go to college. My truck was getting 10 mpg. So I found a 2012 2.5 5 SPD. Now I get 30mpg. All the points you said is what I like about the Beetle. I put the wing on mine to make it more manly. 😂😂😂
Not mentioned here but the infotainment system does have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has proximity sensors and a rear view camera. I own a black hard top 2018 Beetle and I love it. Also I have been saying for a few years that the Beetle is zippy. Love hearing someone else say that.
Well, for anyone not aware of her point, Ferdinand Porsche created the Beetle! That’s why there are hints of similar design language. VW is Porsche and vice versa. Please note that Audi is VW too.

Enjoyed the video .... love the unique interior, refreshing to see color again “do you want the muted gray, dark black or beige? We can add dull metal trim, overdone carbon fiber or dark wood veneer” .... just not enough room in the backseat for people or groceries, anything you buy would have to go on the front passenger foot well which means no passenger, toss it in the backseat & you’ll have to move seat forward to get fallen items from floor. It’s a nice little car, just not a practical little car

Love that color combo! Unfortunately trying to find a new 2018 Beetle in this color combo is basically impossible. Searched online and there are exactly ZERO for sale within 500 miles of me. WTH!

It's an okay review, with a few weird things I cant help but point out. First, Sarah said that the car gets pretty good mpg for a turbo car, but the car is turbo'd for economy! That's the whole point of this turbo! Next, they should move it to the Porsche Boxster platform to make it rear engine, the Boxster is mid-engine. I mean, the 718 does use a flat 4 cylinder, maybe she meant they should use the engine from the 718. But she said platform. Keep improving Sarah, I'm sure you'll be a great automotive journalist. These are small issues really.

Definitely a nice car. I'm glad they put so much character into it. It's one of the most fun and engaging interiors I've seen on a car in a very long time. I too would love to see them do something rear engined with RWD but they'll never do it. I would definitely love a hotter performance variant of the Beetle but I also know I'm never going to buy one lol. I might actually take the Transit over one of these just because I like having space for me and stuff but that's not to say this isn't a massively fun car to drive. I would rather take an old Beetle and mod it out into a dunebug though. Great review! Happy to have you on the team, Sarah :D

Hi Sarah! Nice review. Sharp little car! Emphasis on little. Was that back seat as tiny as it looked? It could've been the angle, but it seemed as though if the front seats were set for a tall person that there was no room for anyone to sit in the back. Loved the insta-bacon shot, it gave me a good laugh. Looking forward to more reviews! ☺

I like your suggestion of building "the next one ?" in the Boxster's RWD platform . . . maybe a derivative of it built to a VERY LOW budget.
Isn't the Boxster mid-engined? Maybe the new electric platform Volkswagen is working on would be a better option?

No need to sound so apologetic for liking the car. VW's are made for people who love
Volkswagons and nobody else. My 2015 Beetle is very fast, takes a 35 mph curve at 60 without making anyone in the car nervous and handles Vermont mountain roads better than many SUV's (it helps if you have driving skills). PS you can fit a 90h.p. Merc outboard in the rear with the seat down. MPG 32 and the road salt resistance is 5x better than anything Japanese. Nice review.

Still a big fan of the beetle. Each body style is unique and interesting. Great video 👍👍. Keep up the good work. Green rocks, and that tan is perfect contrast, agreed. That infotainment is adequate; we don't buy beetles for tech toys; we buy it for its style. That's my thought. If i want to race, i pull out my ecoboost MKS. I want fun, pull up in the beetle.

I guess the extra glove compartments are due to it being a soft top? You have the top down so you need lockable storage for your stuff?
There are other cars that have lockable storage and aren´t convertibles.

Great job Sarah. I loved this review. All this people are talking about the title was click bait because it had the word topless in it. I didn't even see that word or that top title. The word bacon under the video is what caused me to click, and the car. That is a beautiful color car.

Good idea about the new Beetle.
Also I get that you like this car but why did you get the convertible if you don’t like to have the top down? Sunglasses generally help with that.
