It was unveiled this week at Buckingham Palace - and it's fair to say it's had mixed reviews.

I read that the butterfly symbolises his metamorphosis from Prince to the King. To me I saw his mother visiting him. When I see a butterfly I think of those I've lost. I really like the portrait, it's about time we had a modern take on the boring paintings of old.

Red symbolises courage, sacrifice, love and passion. I see yellow in there as well and that symbolises joy, happiness, energy/positivity.
Interpretation like beauty should be in the eye of the beholder. I think people need to look deeper than what's on the surface. I personally love it and agree with you :)

Edward the Confessor is a different person to Edward I. On the painting, they know the artist is famous for this type of portrait. It’s what they wanted and why they chose Yeo!

It's a wonderful painting. By the way...this is a perfect example of what art should be. It should not be a painted photograph (although it would be acceptable too as it IS art). Art should stir up discussions, admiration or even disgust as long as it brings emotions. The discussion about HM's portrait is just what the doctor orders with art. It's perfect!!!

Beautiful portret . The image of the princess of Wales IS appalling. IT doesn't look like her ať all and has a completely asymmetrical face.
