Befores 1918, our country was prosperous under tariffs until we were switched to a tax based system where the ppl and corps were taxed: in Aug of 1929 we entered the Great Depression that lasted for yrs. If you stand w China- y not go live there?

Temper tantrum? I'm confused that there is so little solidarity in making America a local powerhouse and an even bigger powerhouse internationally.
Ask an average American manic consumer what they prioritize. Cheap cheaply constructed disposable "stuff". Before China it was Japan, before Japan chose quality rather than disposable quantity. Knowing manic consumer habits, why would US either attempt to force expensive quality on consumers? Or base an economy on cheap disposable garbage?
Just to be clear. That "upwards of a billion dollars" in concessions from Canada was announced in December 2024 and is to be spent over the next 5 or 6 years. This was not a concession. Also, more fentanyl and migrants flow north across our shared border than flow south. So yes, Canada needs to do better at securing our border. This was not a concession, it's necessary.
Difference
China imposes tariffs on US products, and it can buy these products elsewhere at (maybe) cheaper prices.
US imposes tariffs on Chinese products but it can hardly find cheaper products elsewhere.
So results:
Chinese consumers are not affected but US consumers are paying more.
We pay MORE for stuff. Yay, MAGA.

This is our system of government and always has been so if you aren't happy with it and if your loyalty lies with another country and world leader then you should move to the country that you support because it's obvious that you aren't happy here.

I find it interesting the this "news" report mentions that Mexico will place 10,000 troops at the border to halt illegal migration - but it does not mention that Mexico got the US to agree to take measures to halt the smuggling of US illegal firearms into Mexico.
Maybe that's why Sheinbaum was smiling when she negotiated the 1 month delay. Let's see if the US can hold-up their end of the agreement?
