I had a Charge 5 that I left on a boat during a trip and never got back. I ended up replacing it with the Flip 6 and barely even noticed the difference and actually prefer it over the Charge 5 because of its compact size!
Would like to see stereo pair tests. In my use, that is one of the toughest tests for connections as they often do not stay paired and the signal breaks up.
I'm using JBL Charge 3 from July 2018 till now, but 3 days ago I'm buying Sony XB33 , they sound completely different. JBL is more universal, you can use it for music, movies, and really enjoy the sound all the time. Sony , at the beginning sounds strange for me, like the speaker is inside of a barrel, you need to keep the speaker at least 25% volume to hear something in a small room, uncomfortable to watch video on YT because 50% of the sound is bass , voice of the bloggers that I'm watching sounds more different with Sony then Charge 3. When you listen only music, IMHO, Sony sounds more interesting then Charge 3, that bass is amazing, instruments sounds better and I really enjoy it , but CHarge 3 is also amazing, I didn't expect that from a old speaker . Per total, I decide to keep Sony for my daily use, because Sony looks better near to my gaming PC and have that lights + Cream color is beautiful as well, when I listen music I'm using speaker in basic regime, when I'm watching movies I just press LIVE button and sounds is better, you can hear something else then bass. JBL Charge 3 I take with me at work and I leave there, amazing speaker even at the end of 2021. Like a conclusion I can say JBL CHarge speakers are more universal and the sound is better for an average person, looks minimalistic and the quality of the speaker is very good as well, from 2018 till now, I'm using every day CHarge 3 without any problems. SOny is different, If you're not a SOnyBoy or a person who never listen SOny earphones, or speakers, don't buy SOny, 99% you'll not gonna like it. I'm using Sony WH-1000xM3 and WF-1000xM3 for last 4 years and SOny sound is familiar with me. But , if you have to make a choice between CHarge 5 and XB33 , go for JBL , even if JBL is more expensive, pay 20-30 $ more, buy you'll love that speaker. In UK,at the moment , CHarge 5 is 159£, XB33 is 109£, I make my choice for XB33, because I want to try something new , it's acceptable, but I'm not impressed after Charge 3.
Yep! Same experience here, had a charge 3 and 4 and have a charge 5 now and they sound the best in most cases. The charge 5 can go louder im pretty sure but they limit volume but other than that its loud. I clean pools for a living and even with loud water on and being like 2 school bus lengths away its still loud. I use my charge 5 on my bike and people are I pressed
at least someone knows a bit what they are talking about. alot of people singing the sonys praises saying its better because it can get louder and has more base. if you only listen to wub wub then yeah whatever but the fact that you cant get a great experience out of all different types of listening whether it be something more on the side of lyrics, or classical, or just videos with dialogue, without going in every time and adjusting the eq just goes to show the tuning jbl has done to try and make a more universal experience for all types of listening throughout all their generations.

The XB33 doesn't get enough credit here. Also a little weird to say Flip6 to be better than the bigger, warmer and punchier XB33. While JBL and the tweeter does give overall better clarity and openness, yet with tweaked EQ on XB33 it actually can top both JBL. The stock EQ on XB33 is kinda bad, so you have to adjust it and it can sound as good, if not even better, than the JBL's. So the Sony definitely is worth a pick too if not one of the best. And it's bass is incredible too.
yea finally someone knows something. I had xb33, it sounds really good, clear and has bass. I returned it and got jbl charge 5 because louder, what i want for outside. It is easy to see JBL paid him. It is no problem, since everyone is working for money. Xb33 must be on "live sound" mode and EQ must be set up. Then it is super cool. But my girlfriend also wants to use it, and shes lazy and "girly" to play with things like this, so thats why i returned it for the louder and EASIER JBL. Well people in US like easier things, so get JBL ;p
I picked JBL because of the material and quality. Sound quality is the best on the JBL, the Sony sounds too harsh, the JBL just sounds more premium on most songs
Yes thank you! The bass on the XB33 is super good and can go super loud. I love mine and if there are no jbl speakers available at the time of buying, then the XB33 can easily make up for it.
I love my charge 5 , its awesome and even sounds better with the "EQ " can be tuned how ever you like it . And i can play it party boosted with my flip5 with the eq , so good!

Charge 5... trust me. Anything rock needs tweeter. I bought sony srs xb33 and not as loud sounding for rock music. Because of that I'm thinking of exchanging for jbl charge 5... the sony is too bassy for rock music
It bugs me that the others dont have a cable to tie to stuff. Why only the flip? Such a minor feature missing for no reason. Would've loved to take the Charge with me on a paddle board
the flip is a better form factor and the sound is just as good, it’s just not as loud. perfect for your paddle board. i would be wary of marketing that tells you the charge sounds better (it doesn’t). i have both, and they sound different, but equally good for what they’re designed for. while the charge sounds better from a distance, the flip actually sounds much better and more balanced up close. the charge has a lot of high frequency boost because those are the frequencies that die off the easiest, thus why it’s designed to be listened from a distance. the flip is a more balanced sounding speaker up close but it doesn’t have the excessive range of the charge, something you absolutely do not need on a paddle board. the flip gets plenty loud though, enough to entertain small groups in loud outdoor settings. the charge is a bit heartier and i’d take that to anything more than 10-15 people, but it’s meant to be put in one place and listened from a medium distance, like at a house party or something. both are very capable but don’t let the small form factor of the flip push you towards a larger speaker that is not designed for what you need. the flip packs a punch despite its size.
Hey gymcaddy you are kinda wrong at time. Like how on earth is a flip6 better than XB33?? Like wtfff dude the amount of volume of the two speakers are in different levels. Just having vocals doesn’t mean it’s loud. Instrumental sound and bass is also something that You should look for. Also you get the lights too in XB33. And then the EQ of XB33 is way more customizable than the JBL speakers and that can make a Song sound just like JBL product. With the right amount of tweaking... man you do great work but you always support JBL for some reason like even when it doesn’t deserve a win.
i recommended not to buy jbl speaker until they make stereo speaker. mono is like radio quality sound. sony is always stereo . all type song is good in stereo speaker.

Yeah I just bought JBL Flip 6 in the Philippines yesterday for around 150 US dollars. Small but terrible. The quality of the sound is just excellent. Though I'm a Sony lover from stereo component, walkman, compact disc, earphones to earbuds for more than 30 years.
Beyond budget, for similar portability/size and combined weight, two flip 6 in stereo completely sweep the floor with the other two. All this single speaker comparisons miss the power of two small enough speakers that allow for large freedom of placement to get great stereo in almost any listening situation....
good point but 2 charge 5s would blow those flips out of the water for someone willing to pay the price. single speakers reviews keep the focus on the speakers and not on the listener. i could buy 80 flip 6s, pair them up and probably have the volume to play a concert with it, but should he do a review on it? no because anyone who wants to do that will first need to know how good the speakers sound on their own compared to other speakers. maybe include a small point within the review on pairing with a second version of the speaker and how it sounds, but a dedicated review is kinda pointless.
Quite the opposite for me I prefer the charge five because it sounds more balanced than the xb33 because the charge five has a tweeter and a woofer which makes it sound more open than the xb33 which only has 2 woofers but no tweeter this speaker setup makes it sound shallow and not as open as the charge five

as you saying on your videos jbl speakers are start it's high's after 80% volume so why not making it 100% so we can hear it's full performance. please starting comparing all with full max volume
Full power gives you 4hrs on the charge series and Xtreme series. Give or take about 20-30 mins between the models at most. The reason he picks 80% because that’s where the bass cuts off. Any volume above 80% is only adding highs and Mids and keep the bass at 80%. It’s unbalanced.

Yep the flip 6 has a good sound profile, I don’t like speakers that emphasize bass so much. It really ruins the rest of the sounds and makes the speaker sound cheap. Sound is very subjective though so perfectly understandable if you disagree.
@@stormrunnercore I love bass with clear highs JBL really puts it out years ago I was a big advent speaker fan awesome bass. TheTribit max sound is awesome built like the JBL CHARGE 4 mon speakers seem to give stronger bass response. But like you said everyone has their own sound preference.

I'm in a dilemma between the Charge 5 and the Flip 6. I heard that the Flip 6 is bad when turn the vol above 80%... I couldn't know since I don't have it. What would you recommend?
Charge 5 has quite a bit better bass and fuller sound than the flip. If you really want the compact size and portability the flip is great. For me personally, I'd rather have the Charge 5 for better sound and way better battery even if it's slightly more bulky. For only $20 more I'd pick the Charge 5 any day! Also, you can still pick up new Charge 4 models which sound almost as good as the 5 for just over $100. If it's all about budget, I'd still take the Charge 4 over the flip.
@@HenPapirman Well if it follows the pattern of it's predecessors, it won't be out for another couple years. Charge 5 was just released last year. What features exactly are you waiting for? I personally think the Charge 5 is only very marginally better than the 4 and would buy either if I found a better deal on one. I was recently going to buy the 4 but got a great deal on a slightly used 5 for even cheaper so I went that direction. Heck, I would still be using my Charge 3 if the battery wasn't dying on me. I think it still holds up very well in sound quality compared to the 5.

I've been told that if you connect the Flip 6 to your player, then turn the Flip 5 on and let that connect, then hit Partyboost on the app, then hit the 'tap to connect to Flip 5' tab at the bottom of the app, both speakers are now connected in stereo. If anybody could try this, I would be very interested in the result.

Both JBLs sound clearer and more open than the Sony, but I can see why someone would pick the Sony. The flat tone might be easier to endure over long listening sessions. Personally, I think the light show is a ridiculous feature - even a deal breaker.

See I just bought the jbl charge 5 today. Charged it up all the way. Played it at max volume to test it. It seriously lasted 3 hours. Someone told me I should have got the Sony xb43.
The charge 5 at max volume is going to last around 4 to 5 hours but 3 is a idk lol but I own a anker motion plus and it last about 6.5 hours at max volume.
The Charge 5 and Flip 6 have more than 100ms delay during my testing, which is annoyingly noticeable. Sony XB33 has sub 80ms response, which is way more tolerable.
With right eq, Sony is the best sounding, then the Flip 6 and charge is by far the worst here (sound that doesn't reassemble the original recording at all)...
Jbl bluetooth speakers and Sony speakers sound underpowered compared to similar sized soundcore by anker speakers. Jbl itself costs too much for what it doesn't do . No more phone calls and only one driver. I wouldn't waste my money on jbl or Sony. Since I purchased my first soundcore by anker bluetooth speaker, I've been purchasing them all. They're loud and affordable , packed with features and a comprehensive app .
Today i bought Sony xb33... In offer price 12000 rupees only.... While I buying time one lady_customer told me After 6years my Sony xb series giving best results too.... I recomend you with Sony...she tells....so I am impressed according to durability👍👍👍
I just looked on Sonys website and they're nothing stating that. also on the speaker in says DC in for USB-C a DC out for USB-A. It says "Use a USB Type-C cable to charge the SRS-XB33 and if your smartphone's running low on power, just plug it into the speaker's USB port to charge up the battery." which means USC-A for charging other devices and USB-C for charging the other speaker.
Charge 5 has too much bass, which I can’t stand. I don’t really listen to hip hop or techno, so I have no desire to buy something that sounds like Beats super bass tech.
Dont put your hand on speakers while playing songs it interrupts the experience of hearing the sound quality , don’t make videos like that way, no one will listen songs to put their hand on speaker
Hi brothers. Sony has much better sound quality, not only because the speakers are better, but also because of the bass, there is practically no bass in the JBL, it has a built-in artificial bass, almost just an imitation of bass. The only advantage of the JBL Flip 6 is its size, it's smaller and more comfortable, but even that fact can't beat the Sony neon lights. Sony, due to its size, has a very convenient power button, the column does not need to be taken in hand to turn it on, which is not in JBL, often JBL needs to be taken in hand to turn it on

I liked how the xb33 sounded over the jbl speakers. The xb33 is way more balanced. The jbl are mono speakers it very pronounced in the vocals.

as you saying on your videos jbl speakers are start it's high's after 80% volume so why not making it 100% so we can hear it's full performance. please starting comparing all with full max volume
Full power gives you 4hrs on the charge series and Xtreme series. Give or take about 20-30 mins between the models at most. The reason he picks 80% because that’s where the bass cuts off. Any volume above 80% is only adding highs and Mids and keep the bass at 80%. It’s unbalanced.

Yep the flip 6 has a good sound profile, I don’t like speakers that emphasize bass so much. It really ruins the rest of the sounds and makes the speaker sound cheap. Sound is very subjective though so perfectly understandable if you disagree.
@@stormrunnercore I love bass with clear highs JBL really puts it out years ago I was a big advent speaker fan awesome bass. TheTribit max sound is awesome built like the JBL CHARGE 4 mon speakers seem to give stronger bass response. But like you said everyone has their own sound preference.

This seems illogic. The charge 5 is better (in sound) than the Flip 6, which is still better than the XB33. But in another video on this channel you say the XB33 is better than the Charge 5.

I’m in the same boat. The Charge 5 is on sale right now for $149, which is only $20 more than the Flip 6 at $129.
Charge 5 is superior
Charge 5 has quite a bit better bass and fuller sound than the flip. If you really want the compact size and portability the flip is great. For me personally, I'd rather have the Charge 5 for better sound and way better battery even if it's slightly more bulky. For only $20 more I'd pick the Charge 5 any day! Also, you can still pick up new Charge 4 models which sound almost as good as the 5 for just over $100. If it's all about budget, I'd still take the Charge 4 over the flip.

@@HenPapirman Well if it follows the pattern of it's predecessors, it won't be out for another couple years. Charge 5 was just released last year. What features exactly are you waiting for? I personally think the Charge 5 is only very marginally better than the 4 and would buy either if I found a better deal on one. I was recently going to buy the 4 but got a great deal on a slightly used 5 for even cheaper so I went that direction. Heck, I would still be using my Charge 3 if the battery wasn't dying on me. I think it still holds up very well in sound quality compared to the 5.

I've been told that if you connect the Flip 6 to your player, then turn the Flip 5 on and let that connect, then hit Partyboost on the app, then hit the 'tap to connect to Flip 5' tab at the bottom of the app, both speakers are now connected in stereo.

Both JBLs sound clearer and more open than the Sony, but I can see why someone would pick the Sony. The flat tone might be easier to endure over long listening sessions. Personally, I think the light show is a ridiculous feature - even a deal breaker.

See I just bought the jbl charge 5 today. Charged it up all the way. Played it at max volume to test it. It seriously lasted 3 hours. Someone told me I should have got the Sony xb43.
The charge 5 at max volume is going to last around 4 to 5 hours but 3 is a idk lol but I own a anker motion plus and it last about 6.5 hours at max volume.
I own a charge 5 I always play at half to full volume and it lasts about 4-5 and a half hours

The Charge 5 and Flip 6 have more than 100ms delay during my testing, which is annoyingly noticeable. Sony XB33 has sub 80ms response, which is way more tolerable.

With right eq, Sony is the best sounding, then the Flip 6 and charge is by far the worst here (sound that doesn't reassemble the original recording at all)...
You can put the JBL, s on the eq too then they sound even better, no comparison

Jbl bluetooth speakers and Sony speakers sound underpowered compared to similar sized soundcore by anker speakers. Jbl itself costs too much for what it doesn't do . No more phone calls and only one driver. I wouldn't waste my money on jbl or Sony. Since I purchased my first soundcore by anker bluetooth speaker, I've been purchasing them all. They're loud and affordable , packed with features and a comprehensive app .

On Sony's website, they stated that the USB-C port could be used for charging other devices.
I just looked on Sonys website and they're nothing stating that. also on the speaker in says DC in for USB-C a DC out for USB-A. It says "Use a USB Type-C cable to charge the SRS-XB33 and if your smartphone's running low on power, just plug it into the speaker's USB port to charge up the battery." which means USC-A for charging other devices and USB-C for charging the other speaker.

Sony has much better sound quality, not only because the speakers are better, but also because of the bass, there is practically no bass in the JBL, it has a built-in artificial bass, almost just an imitation of bass. The only advantage of the JBL Flip 6 is its size, it's smaller and more comfortable, but even that fact can't beat the Sony neon lights.
Sony, due to its size, has a very convenient power button, the column does not need to be taken in hand to turn it on, which is not in JBL, often JBL needs to be taken in hand to turn it on
