- The World Boxing Council and its President, Mr. Mauricio Sulaiman, announce one day of mourning after the very sad news of the passing of Bobby Chacon, former World Champion, who died this morning in South California.
Bobby was born in the Sylmar suburb in Los Angeles, California, on November 28, 1951. He starred in several amazing and so memorable fights that made him a boxing star during the 70´s, and an enduring legend forever after.
Bobby fought Chucho Castillo, Ruben Olivares, Danny 'Coloradito' Lopez, Alexis Argüello, and Alfredo Marcano, against who he won the WBC featherweight championship. He also held one of the most remembered and admired fights of the decade against Mexican, Rafael 'Bazooka' Limón.
We will always remember you as a fantastic champion, but above all, as a great and wonderful person.
All the WBC boxing family prays to God to give all of Bobby's family and many, many friends solace at this sad time. What a tremendous man we've lost!

chacon fought the cream of the crop.he was a tough fighter. I watched him fight when I was five years old at the Olympic auditorium against Reuben olivares.that motivated me to be a fighter..rest in peace bobby may God rest your soul.

Nowadays it’s just a show, how many fights did Mayweather lost and the judges said he won, Canelo Alvarez only fights old men and how many times did Marquez beat Pacquiao Nd the judges stole the fights from Marquez. Bobby was a warrior who fought the best fighters of that time!

Oliveras, Limon, Boza Edwards, Little Red Lopez, to name a few. Chacon fought some of the best of ALL TIME. Did I forget to mention Mando Ramos, and Chu Chu Castillo, how dare me... Bobby was a SFV legend, grew up in Sylmar, Boxed out of Pacoima, and was a San Fernando Tiger. I grew up next door in Sun Valley, and was also a Tiger for a year and a half. Proud to say Bobby was a friend of mine, he will always be remembered by any true fight fans, RIP CHAMP...
