- A legendary welder in the off-road community, Pat Gremillion and Clifton Slay spend a day in Moab Utah speaking of the history and practical use of trail welding. Clifton and Pat's friendship bridges from the early 90's when hardcore rock crawling had its genesis, and having an on board welder was a staple for wheelers pushing the boundaries of extreme. A consummate teacher, even after all these years Pat continues to tune Clifton's welding technique during the shoot. Plus gives unprecedented advice regarding best practices for arc welding, rod type and unconventional uses of the welder.
So great to honor my old friends legacy within the off road community. A day with Pat Gremillion sharing his boundless wisdom on trail welding💙
Our pleasure!
Pat and Jane are a legend in the Offroad community. A true salt of the earth selfless individual.
We completely agree. thanks for the input.
i only had to be helped once by a fella with one of these on a moab trail.he didn't know how to weld but we did! it made a huge difference to our group. bought one a week later! its been part of my good luck stuff for many years since...
Very cool!
Really great to see Pat. Haven't talked to him for about 4 years.
Pat's a character; such a knowledgable guy. We love being out the trial with him.
Thanks for the tips! Great hearing for a couple of guys that have been in the industry for as long as I can remember😉
You bet, thanks for the input and good words.
Great video and glad to see Pat is still out there wheeling! I can still remember meeting him that first time on a Battlement Mesa run (1995?). He's a character (and a cajun).
Pat's an awesome guy; still at it and going strong. Thanks for the feedback.
Great video
Unsure How I’m just finding this video, but it was great to meet Pat and hang out for a bit. Still not Steven Watsons brother haha.
Pat is an awesome guy. Thanks for the feedback.
I like this man! He is really cool and has a heart for passing on his trade.
The man says,"You can weld it cheaply, or you can fix it." I favor doing it right the first time.
I am a self-trained welder who LISTENED to trained experienced welders. But like the man said, "Practice."
Oh, I was looking for the brand name of this welder as I need one for work on the farm and ran into this video.
I learned more stuff here, thank you.
And I will be passing this knowledge not only to lady friends, but to boys and girls.
Since oblunder took over the office I no longer encourage youngins to enlist for military service and I do not encourage going to indoctrination camps, uhmm, I mean college.
People who have a trade or two or more always make a wage to support their families and even create their own business that creates jobs for others. And they do not get their heads blown off because of a stupid ass "commander in chief" or other careLESS politicians.
I truly appreciate this video!! 👍👍 (two thumbs up)
Hey Slowcountryboy, thanks for the feedback and input...so many long campfire yarns surrounding those topics.
Cheap repairs and correct repairs are not always mutually exclusive. The cost of a Premier welder is such that I have never seen one on the trail. I notice they aoffer a less expensive alternative on the website so I may be able to pull the trigger on one of those.
You guys never did weld on some thinner material need a few more videos to cover it all.
IF ANYONE WANTS ONE OF THESE GO THE MERLINS OLD SCHOOL GARAGE YOU CAN MAKE THIS FOR VARY LITTLE MONEY I MADE MINE FOR FREE BECAUSE I HAD EVERYTHING FROM SPARE PARTS BIN IN MY GARAGE NOT TALKING DOWN ON THE PRODUCT BUT IT CAN BE DONT WAY CHEAPER IF YOU LIKE TO DIY
True, and some people can build a driveline in their garage (we have), but for most folks buying a bolt-on unit like a Premier is the way to go.
How much and where to get this setup?
