Same I did Rin chan now on expert and finally went through the last spam part and got too excited and didn't get the last 2 notes- even though I was aware of this trick. Never felt worse

you don't know how much this trick drilled into me after watching it once. i didn't even notice it until recently that i would unconsciously tap the screen when the song stops.
I always do that 😂 it can also help you keep rhythm as long as you aren’t pressing too close to actual taps.
When you click it but a note suddenly appeared and it registered as 'fast' 💀

I have made a habit of tapping twice every single time a song ends because sometimes it "ends"

you don't have to press it, I usually just pay attention up until it actually does the sound and shows fc, clear or ap text

Just see if the full combo popped up if no just wait, cause if it's finished it immediately pops up (idk but I respect your decision also if you want ot different)
