I’m a diehard Glock fan boy till death! My department after 30 years of issuing the Beretta 92FS, went to the m&p 1.0. I hate S&W autos as I own two 3rd gens, but they’re now safe queens. However after 4 years, my department recalled all of the 1.0’s and swapped them out for the newer 2.0’s. I never carried the 1.0, as I opted for a Glock 17 Gen5 and my Beretta 92 FS which I was allowed to buy from my department. Regarding the 2.0, I was skeptical initially, but after going through department training with two classes of each shooting 1,000 rounds (2,000 total), I gotta say this 2.0 kicks ass!!!! My department tortured the crap out of the 20 test guns (2.0’s) they had and the guns functioned amazingly. (So did the Glocks), but I admit that the 2.0 feels better in the hand for me. Now I swear by the 2.0 and I want the 5” desert tan model like in this video. Fabulous gun!!!!

@@stevekennyufc Yeah I did actually get the 5” FDE model and a 4.25” black colored version, like the one I’m issued. I love them both, even though I’m really a Glock FANATICboy! The 5” FDE model however is usually on my hip when hunting upland game and/or predator hunting.

I’m buying this gun tomorrow. My dealer has 10 (9mm) in stock. I have the 4.25” model and I love it! …and I’m a diehard GLOCK FANATIC JUNKIE! But this 5” FDE finish just beats all the ascetics I’ve seen and felt on a modern semi auto. It will be my secondary sidearm (9mm) on hunting trips for small game. When I hunt deer, pigs and black bear, then it’s always a Glock 20 in 10mm.

Your journey with S&W is similar to mine. I bought a Sigma 40 many years ago and eventually sold it, having never fired it. Except for owning, and eventually selling, a few Walthers, I never owned another S&W until yesterday. That's when I saw your version of the M&P 2.0 with a manual safety and the Performance Center 2.0 C.O.R.E. in my LGS. It took only a couple of minutes to decide I preferred the latter to the former, and bought it. I shot it yesterday and I love it.

I just got this gun recently and love it!
I’d also recommend looking into possibly getting the S&W sd9ve. It’s the final evolution of the old sigma. You can definitely see the resemblance but it’s overall a much better gun now. Still not as good as the m&p line but if you want a beater gun with smith & Wesson quality that will only run you around $300-$350, id recommend it. I’m sure it’d bring you some nostalgia.

I have that same gun, except mine has the thumb safety in the back. I am a casual/recreational shooter who has been shooting only for about two years. When I go to the range, I use the Birchwood Casey Dirty Bird targets that have a 2-7/8" diameter 10 ring. I don't get the groups you get, but I can often get all 10 shots inside the 10 ring at 7 yards. I love the gun!

I bought the exact copy of this just today, as it was too good a deal to pass up. This will be a good stable mate to my 4.25" & 3.6" models, also 2.0. Being a big fan of flat faced triggers the first thing I did was order an Apex F/F kit to replace the hinged jobbie. Will also be replacing the sights with a set of Dawson fiber optics to round things out.

There's something about the reset on this factory trigger that just feels right. When the pistol cycles it does it so effortlessly and smoothly that, to me, it is reminiscent of a quality 1911--without the hammer, of course. Prior to purchase, and after firing a couple of hundred rounds through it as is, the guy I bought it from threw in an Apex trigger kit to sweeten the deal. All that's really left to say is "wow!"

Uhhhh the “Sigma.” That was the biggest POS that S&W ever made. That gun was a dumpster fire. Now this M&P 2.0 5” FDE model is a GEM! This is my update since I first posted two years ago. I carry mine now for camping and back packing in non black bear country. It’s primarily my defense gun against toothless zombies that play banjos in the woods.
It’s sad that the military didn’t choose the Glock 19x first and foremost. Their second choice should have been this 5” FDE M&P model. They dun screwed up with Sig.
