    One thing I cannot figure out. I look at the LIRE_MAILLAGE command (at 15.53 for example) and there's nothing to associate this with the .med file you created in the Mesh module. This is also not explained in JP Aubry's book. How does the system know where the mesh is stored? Am I missing something?

    I've searched Google to learn how to assign thickness to C_PLAN element, but I think it's not possible. Well, we can modify the static analysis results by a ratio related to thickness, yet it would still be a problem in dynamic analysis.

    Hi,
    I have a doubt in doing the analysis of a shell model in Code_aster. While assigning the local axis of a shell member using "ANGL_REP/VECTOR", should we need to apply the local axis for all the shell members in the model.

    Thanks for the video.
    I have an issue when I run the Aster case (like 31:35 in your video).
    It shows "Cannot read output file or empty file." and cannot finish the simulation.
    I've checked 1) language support/Regional formats and 2) folder/file names, no problems.
    Could you suggest how to solve this problem? thanks.

      Have you attached the results of the simulation to the result file? Check the IMPR_RESU function. The checkbox results should be checked and the results from the analysis case linked otherwise it will generate a result file with nothing in it.

    Thanks for the video. But no thickness for the plate ?

      Yves Nioul I was thinking the same. Would you clarify why not setting the plate thickness?

      I have the same question. Did any of you figure out how to set it?

      Konrad Kamieniecki There's a new video of a simulation of a beam models with shell elements.

      He has chosen C_PLANE ( plane stress ) model and Pressure loads ...so I think that in the constitutive law and in the formation of the matrix of elements, it's not needed the thickness ...

    Hi Cyprien, is there any method to extract the mid surface of a 3D .step in Salome? Thanks for your tutorials, they are very useful.

    • @Feaforall
      @Feaforall  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think that Salome can do that Claudio...

    I don't have understood the orientation .. why a line ? it define top and down of 2D elements for visualization ?

    • @Feaforall
      @Feaforall  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those edges elements already have an orientation defined in geom. Code_aster takes this orientation of the geometry to assign it to associated mesh

    Hello, When I run the file, my box turns red and gives the following error: Full job output should be available in the directory.
    What does this mean?

    • @Feaforall
      @Feaforall  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure. Have you checked the simulation folder? Do you have files that were created in it?
      Do you have some spaces in the install path of Salome? (You shouldn’t )

      @@Feaforall , yes, I checked all these parameters. I tried on another computer it worked. Maybe I was missing some library.
      Thank you :)

    Nice commented tutorial! Thank you Cyprien.
    Regarding the need to use the same name after using "Modify a mesh", this is a known issue that will get fixed in the next release of the Salome-Meca. Please have a look at the embedded help of AsterStudy (Help menu) or in the following link for all known issues in Salome-Meca 2017: www.code-aster.org/V2/IMG/pdf/ki_asterstudy-en.pdf
    Regarding the naming of fields in code_aster, the training material has a neat diagram explaining the difference between _NOEU (nodes), _ELNO (nodes by element) and _ELGA (Gauss points by element): www.code-aster.org/V2/UPLOAD/DOC/Formations/03-stepbystepcalculation.pdf (page 30)
    Some details:
    - the "Modify a mesh" feature is used not to orient the mesh itself but rather the border of the mesh where pressure will be applied (e.g. "Top"). Indeed the pressure loading ("PRES_REP") requires that the normal points outwards on the border of the mesh that is concerned.
    - you may edit a code_aster input file manually and run it without the need for ASTK, for that, just switch to "Text mode" (CTRL+SHIFT+T in Case view, with a Stage selected).

      Thank you for those additional comments and links, I will take a deep look into it and this will help me to provide a better explanation in the next video.
