Very nicely done! I had one issue while watching. When I opened the code_aster module, my mesh was no where to be found. The only file type that could be saved was the *.hdf file which obviously contained no mesh information. My solution was to export the mesh to a MED file before opening the code_aster module. Perhaps I missed some step in the video. But again, you made an excellent video tutorial.
at between 14:00 and 15:50, when I was following you with selecting faces, I also had selecting problems and figured out that the program actually selects the faces at just a click, but it just doesn't put the names visible onto the box and that's what makes us confused. So just don't mind about it and click apply and close..it would work just fine. To make sure of that, you can edit one of the groups of faces after you had done everything, and it DOES print out the name of faces. I had to work on this for like an hour to figure this out, and hope other people who has same problems would be informed of the fact.
The selection of (geometric) LOAD_FACE at 14:57 does not work because you have chosen it before you go "Direct geometry selection". You go "Direct geometry selection" first, the click select the LOAD_FACE.

Hello Cyprien! Really nice tutorial with detailed explanations! I would like to ask you for your assistance to further use Salome. I would like to get the stresses/strains out of this simulation (reaction forces, etc.) Can you please do a follow up on this matter?! Thank you in advance!
I really appreciate these videos however the real world is sometimes different. As you have said the Salome / Aster suite is rather complicated and some tasks take so many operations to complete. Accordingly I have prepared my mesh in Coreform Cubit (much more efficient) and exported this as a series of .unv files (one file for each group). I have also put the boundary nodes (which I could identify with one line of code in Cubit) into separate .unv files. These all import nicely into MESH but that's when the problems begin. For a start there's no associated Geometry file and all of the geometry related operations are inapplicable. I am finding it very hard to break the mesh into groups for the purpose of applying the BCs and loads and Aster Study doesn't seem to be designed to deal with multiple mesh files. Could you please consider making a video where the mesh is imported, and ideally in more than one file. Even a really simple example, like this plate, would be sufficient to show the necessary steps. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Another question: reslin_DEPL is the displacement, right? I try to create a simple bar with length = 1000 mm and diameter 50 mm, loched at one end and with 1000 N force in the other length. The results that I obtain with salome is very different from that obtained with manual calculation. Of course, I made some type of mistake with salome setup, but what? Thank you
Thank you for the videos. I've number of questions... What about solution verification? Should we reach solution convergence? There is no iterative solver in Salome-Meca?

If you are on windows, try to install the latest version of Salome Meca. Also try to remove any blank or space into the path or folder names where you project is saved.
Using C++ and Python you should be able to do that... but you’ll need to develop your own API I think.. there’s nothing ready-out-of-the-box from my knowledge...
Thanks for the upload Cyprien. Very helpful video for beginners, as me! Though, I can't run the analysis from Salome-Meca. I get a UnicodeDecodeError when I press the run button. When I run it with the command as_run from Command line it runs normally. Any ideas?

Nice video!. While selecting 3D: Automatic Hexahedralization, I am getting an error" Salome Exception : libquadmath.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory". Why am i getting this?
libquadmath.so.0 is probably a debian dynamic library that you are missing. If you are running Salome-Meca on Linux Debian or Ubuntu, then you have to search which software you need to install to give you that library.
Hi Please explain elaborately. I tried but its not working Summary Output messages for stage Stage_1 Output messages for stage Stage_1 - [top / bottom] EXECUTION_CODE_ASTER_EXIT_7592=127 _EXIT_CODE = 127 back to top
I got the same error. probably, there is a library missing. go to the 'log'-file and search for "library" or "error" keywords. Like this, i figured out, that in my installation the "libopenblas" was missing. I could install that missing library in the ubuntu software centre. good luck!
Yes, you can do that. There is an option in the menu of Salome called “Dump file”. Do that and you will get a python script of all the commands used to build your model

Are you using the windows install? Yesterday, I installed also this windows installation and after I tried I got the same error... I will get in touch with the developper of this windows install to ask (in the video I use the Linux install)
exactly, I just installed the windows version and got that error. It would be fine a "Green" pass, if I didn't set the output result. However, I checked the log file, there seems to be some errors (even though it displayed GREEN after the analysis). If you have some news regards this issue from the developers, could you please keep me posted as well ? many thanks
Cyprien, I've solved the issue, just by copying the whole folder of the program to C:\ I think the issue is somehow windows prevents the third party programs from writing to a file in some specific locations/folders. Just copy the Salome to a root folder or where you have admin access to it, it would be fine. At least mine worked !
Great idea thanks! Yesterday, the developer told me he had to check the problem, but it would be difficult because he cannot reproduce it... but if you solved it like that, that's great :)

How to make a run time lesser with higher configuration workstations.
Hi, please, somebody help me, I can´t complete any simulation because when I click run this message appears: "Cannot read output file or empty file.". I found some solutions but doesn't work for me
If you are on windows, try to install the latest version of Salome Meca.
Also try to remove any blank or space into the path or folder names where you project is saved.
Hi,
Do you know how to couple a OpenFoam and Calculix and Code aster ?
Using C++ and Python you should be able to do that... but you’ll need to develop your own API I think.. there’s nothing ready-out-of-the-box from my knowledge...
Thanks for the upload Cyprien. Very helpful video for beginners, as me!
Though, I can't run the analysis from Salome-Meca. I get a UnicodeDecodeError when I press the run button. When I run it with the command as_run from Command line it runs normally. Any ideas?
Nikos Barekas try to change the locale of your language to US (and restart). Salome has a problem with time and date when there are non Unicode symbols in it.
Thanks for the reply.
what is the limit of mesh number
For any one else the "read mesh" option didn't apeared ?
Hi
Please explain elaborately. I tried but its not working
Summary
Output messages for stage Stage_1
Output messages for stage Stage_1 - [top / bottom]
EXECUTION_CODE_ASTER_EXIT_7592=127
_EXIT_CODE = 127
I got the same error. probably, there is a library missing. go to the 'log'-file and search for "library" or "error" keywords.
Like this, i figured out, that in my installation the "libopenblas" was missing. I could install that missing library in the ubuntu software centre.
good luck!
Thank you very much.
Can I save the entire project as a script in Python?
Did you make it?
Yes, you can do that. There is an option in the menu of Salome called “Dump file”. Do that and you will get a python script of all the commands used to build your model
good video for starting... thanks Cyprien
jdc.py error with the execution
What is this error ?
Thank you very good video for beginners
Thank you very much, Mr. Rusu!
may i know ur email? i have some question about this case. because there are some errors when I run it. thanks
Thank you very much for your videos.
Thanks for the Tutorial
I kept receiving this error even though I followed exactly your steps, I wonder if you have any idea how to fix it ?
Run case "RunCase_1" calculations process started
Starting "RunCase_1:Stage_1"...
Stage "RunCase_1:Stage_1" start calculation (jobid=0)
Copying result u'C:\\Users\\Tien\\Downloads\\CodeAster\\WORK\\Cuong\\plate2.resu.med'
ERROR: Copy failed: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: u'C:/Users/Tien/Downloads/CodeAster/WORK/Cuong/Study1_Files\\RunCase_1\\Result-Stage_1\\plate2.resu.med'
1 result file(s) has(have) not been copied to their destination. Following stages will probably fail.
Stage "RunCase_1:Stage_1" calculation failed. Interruption
If you have some news regards this issue from the developers, could you please keep me posted as well ? many thanks
Yes, sure, I will let you know. I want to solve this as well. I think it's probably a bug...
Good video , good english
Nice video!
Thank you!
Hi Cyprien, Thanks for the Great Tutorial!!
I'm getting this #Execution_error while running a case
I've installed Salome-meca on my windows system, tried couple of your examples my self and also the inbulit testcases
I am getting this #Execution_error ruining any case as below, I'm a beginner in Salome-meca so can you please #help me figure out where the trouble is?
Error :- "SALOME.SALOME_Exception(details=SALOME.ExceptionStruct(type=BAD_PARAM, text='Cannot create directory C:\\Users\\****~1\\AppData\\Local\\Temp\\asterstudy_workdir_**\\****-ADITYA-OFFICE-Fri-04-221555.184/logs on host ****. Return status is 1', sourceFile='E:\\S-9.3.0\\MODULES\\SRC\\KERNEL_SRC\\src\\Launcher\\SALOME_Launcher.cxx', lineNumber=245))"
Looks like a problem of the Salome_meca 2019 windows version. Try to install the 2018 version. The windows version is not an official build and I heard that the latest version has some bugs
Hi@@Feaforall thanks for the reply, My useraccount contains space which probably was the problem, i created new username and tried running a test case ant It worked!!
Thank you so much
good exemple
