I have a feeling it won't fit through the minimal doors of the reclaimer elevator shaft... I mean it is just an industrial ship meant to haul a lot of stuff, but lets make the doors small enough that they just BARELY fit a 2 SCU high container... That would be nice thought
@@vorpalrobot I kind of doubt it. Looking at the reclaimer the ship is designed to be able to swollow a ship up to a conny in size so that the "workers" can work on it inside the ship in atmo... It is just a slight problem that there is no door for it. My guess is that they did it this way so that the Reclaimer would not turn into a carrier. If you start looking at differnt ships in SC they pretty much all have all kinds of artificial barriers to keep people from flying other ships into them. If CIG wants you to be able to load nothing but a Cyclone into a ship you can bet your bum that the hold will either be ever so slightly to small to fit anything else... or there is some kind of restriction at the entrance. Airlocks, struts, beams, roof height, chains, actuator... you name it. The restriction is there. That is also why I never jumped on the Ironclad. I just knew it would have measurements that would be slightly too small for what I wanted... and after getting the measurements I can just say I was right.
OK, so that’s amazing and changes my life in my cargo missions. I’d like to see it fold down and be able to be put into smaller spaces like you could move it with a regular tractor beam when folded down
This has been in the cards for a LONG time and the beams where always supposed to have limitations. That's why there is a small and a large one, plus the suit. There are legitimate complaints to bring up. Them following what they laid out for years and making players have to plan and choose their equipment and loadouts isnt one of them. They even mentioned before that the tractor beam was cranked up to accommodate gameplay while the ship beams, large 2 handed beam and nw this were implemented.
I know a lot of people disagree with me on this. But I love the fact that this method of moving cargo is unique to this suit. It offers a simple and quick method of moving cargo by making a system that is specifically for cargo haulers. So as you are progressing the cargo profession you find tools that are specifically designed with just you in mind.
They literally nerfed an idiotic light beam on ine pistol only to have stronger one on this so gullible idiots keep spending thousands on new jpegs...its ridiculous that you dont see the fucked up bussiness practice. NOTHING is blocking them from allowing pistol beams to do the same. It would make sense if there was a real animations for picking shit up and mass system where you cannot actually carry the cargo yourself. But idiots like you will tell me that this is 1st iteration of feature meanwhile any better version will never release...
The Handle Held beams will probably end up this way, but in traditional CIG fashion they must first make (and market) something we can spend our money on first.
I don't think they'll change the other beams cause the scroll is good for fine control which you don't get with this thing. It's essentially a manually operated pick-and-place robot for quick loading and unloading of cargo like a forklift.
@@ripl0x yah I agree, a best of both worlds switch. pick-and-place mode and precision mode for the ATLS as well would be awesome, now that the tech exists why not. which leads me back to my org. comment 😬
It should do the same thing but be used for heavier crates, or left click is left arm and right click is right arm, moving 2 small boxes at the same time
Hoping the unused arm is fitted with a magnet to orient yourself against your ship if you take it in zero-gravity. Can't wait to see one on the Reclaimer and the Carrack...
I'm hoping the handheld beams get a third mode where the beam acts like this suit's instead of outright replacing the current model as the current model allows for more precision in my opinion
I don't see why we can't just get hover dollys and then program the cargo elevator to pre-load cargo boxes directly on the dollys to move them to our ship like palletized systems in the real world. If you buy the dolly from the cargo store, then you store them on your ship. Make the dolly stackable when unused so they don't take much space like real world Airforce pallets. It's almost like CIG didn't have to reinvent the wheel and could have consulted a myriad of real life logistics and military people.
Interesting the notes say 'bespoke' tractor suggesting it won't become standard on others, but I can see them evtnually implenting it as a secondary mode on vehicle tractors (manual vs auto) but keep the handhelds only in manua, given how popular the mechanic is
That would require you to walk to the cargo, pick it up and walk all the way to the spot you want to place the box in, that sucks if you just want to move cargo FAST. This is way faster at cargo operations than what you want. As a cargo hauler, I prefer this tractor beam implementation.
