The Ruling UPND party has won the Kaminzekenzeke Ward after a by-election in Mufumbwe District.
UPND Candidate FRED MUSHIMBWA was declared winner by returning Officer MARY CHIPONGE at around 21:56 hours after polling 802 votes out of the 953 ballots cast, with 15 rejected ballots.
His closet rival MARY CHIMBA of Socialist Party polled 116 votes, while United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia -UPPZ- Candidate LAINESS PELAMA came out third after obtaining 15 votes.
PF Candidate JOSEPH MPONDELA only got 5 votes.
The Kaminzekenzeke Ward seat fell vacant after the resignation of Councilor DAINOS MUTUKWA following his deployment into the teaching service.
And speaking after being declared as a duly elected Councillor for Kaminzekenzeke, Mr. MUSHIMBWA said he will ensure that he delivers development as promised and according to people's demands.
Meanwhile, Government Chief whip STAFFORD MULUSA said the win in Kaminzekenzeke Ward is a testament of how the people of Zambia continue to trust and support the leadership of President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA and the party.
