The most interesting thing about this is how the egg case is this perfectly formed package that looks like it is made of the same thing as the cockroach's outer cuticle, and it's so neatly lined up with a precise number of young inside it.
It's funny because the great majority of cockroach species don't live where we do, it's only a hand full of species that are common pests. There's so many beautiful species in the hobby and some people never know about them because they only think of the pest roaches!

@@Aereto All roaches have wings, and all of them CAN fly, most choose not to unless they are in serious danger, like their usual foul smell diversion and running doesn't get them away. I saw this playing on a screen at the museum today, and since I was volunteering there I got to watch the roaches hatch again and again for an hour. Very cool.
I'm curious, the roach babies have a very distinct color patch on their abdomen closest to the rear; the American cockroaches have a yellow patch whereas the German cockroaches have a green patch. What is the color patch for? Also, is there a particular advantage for having a transparent vs. opaque egg case?
A morbid curiosity brought me here. My house was infested with German Cockroaches. I had to cover them in boric acid then let them wonder back to be eaten by their kind, place diatomaceous earth everywhere, and spray a chemical that prevented them from maturing past their nymph stage JUST to stop them from reproducing faster than they could be dealt with.
