- Ista CO2 Starter Set is the cheapest CO2 diffuser kit I found on amazon. Since I have a planted aquarium I thought I should give this diffuser a try. Now this diffuser for planted aquarium has both pros and cons. Check the full review about this CO2 diffuser and know more about it.

Check valve installed incorrectly. You need to unscrew the two ends, then install the tube and rescrew over the tubes. They’re compression fittings holding the tubes onto the valve.

Carbon dioxide is soluble in water, in which there is a balance between CO2 and carbonic acid (H2CO3), and carbonate (CO3−2) and bicarnonate (HCO3−) ions, on which the pH value depends also.
So whole chamber is filled with carbon dioxide and inside aquarium and in contact with water in the aquarium.
So that is the working principle of such a system
I'm using it and it doesn't work. The air is stagnant and co2 stops exiting the chamber after awhile and just tanks at a certain level.

i bought this kit, did your can feel completely empty when new? there is no liquid gas in mine at all it just feels basically like an empty can

nope
no. the co2 would run out too quickly. this is meant to be a passive way to inject co2 into the tank

What’s the Color on your CO2 indicator? Mine stays blue or dark green despite the diffuser working correctly as in all the connections are right and the CO2 filled the diffuser chamber pushing the water level down
It's not a full supplement but gives mild co2 supply so doesn't change the indicator.

It is risky for the nano tanks up to 3 gallons. The diffuser doesn’t have any regulation that how much CO2 is being diffused in the tank. In my 2 gallon tank my tetras were gone dizzy after the 1st dosage of this chamber CO2. Full chamber was dissolved in 4 hours in the tank, did 50% water change twice in 6hrs and saved my tetras. Keep your chamber submerged 20% - 60% to reduce the risk…R
3 gallon is very small for it. You need at least 7 to 10 gallons for it to work safely.
Your problem is having tetras in a 2 gallon... 2 gallon tanks are not okay living conditions for any fish. Only shrimp and snails. You can use this system safely in smaller tanks, you just need to not fill the chamber up all the way. Filling it up all the way is only suitable for 10g+ tanks.

How long does it last??
two to four months for a 1 ft tank but depending on the size of tank it varies. I recommend the professional one if you can afford it.

yes for small tank and beginners it is a good option.

Sorry but that is way too much co2 for a small tank. It should be based on its content in Liters. There is a big risk you kill the fish or they get ill with a fully loaded Co2 holder in a small tank. It should be on the package of the manufacturer how many you need. How long the co2 can lasts depends on the size of the tank, guideline by the manufacturer and if you only have plants or also any animals. For example:Only plants and an overload off light requires more co2. Would also recommend not to place it next to the filter. The currant can make co2 float out of the water faster. Enjoy. Bye. 😊

You fill the champer periodically. It diffuses ibto the aquarium water continuously.
How do plants use that co2 from the chamber? Don't you need something like an atomizer
According to product chamber only needed .. it gives only a slight punch to plant growth and I found some improvement after using it.

When chamber is filled with CO2 wait till it gets filled with water again. Use it once every day when lights are ON and it depends on the plants you have and the size of your tank. I recommend once every day with lights ON.

This is a useless waste of money . I have used it. Instead purchase a citric acid CO2 kit. It really works with a ceramic diffuser
Actually it does work just at a slower rate with a ceramic diffuser you waste a ton of the co2 but you are pumping so much it does it better, this one works at a slower rate but you are diffusing all of the co2 into the water

It will remain like that it diffuse in water without noticing it. You will get filled chamber after few days then you have to fill the chamber again.

Don't buy its. This is cheating. They gave the empty cans. I buy this . The cans is empty. If we complaint it. They didn't they it. They put in description. They did not take back . So my humble don't buy this product.
The can felt empty when I held it... but when used as instructed, it had gas in it
It’s not liquid c02 it’s just high pressure gas. It will fee empty but there is gas in it. Just not a lot.

I know this is an old comment, but I'm replying for those who are looking to buy this now. The product description (at least in my country) specifies that this can holds 12g. So if it feels empty upon arrival, it doesn't mean it is. It is just pressurized CO2, not a liquid so it's normal that it doesn't feel very heavy. After all, it's only 12 grams
What a fool comment. It is fulled with pressurized co2, gas is very light until u cant feel it. How u supposed to expect it should be some weight with the carbon dioxide gas. Please read more to gain the knowledge.
