I don't know what it is... the same thing happened with Bob-Omb Battlefield, but whenever you re-create Mario 64 levels in Mario Maker I'm filled with so much joy and it makes my day. Maybe because of nostalgia. Thank you, GameXPlain! Glad I'm subscribed to you guys!
Your levels are amazing. How about a short series on advanced level creation? Not only can you walk people through the tools like copy, but maybe show people some tricks for doing unique things the game designers had never planned. Work arounds to common problems, etc...
I immediately got excited when I saw this in my sub box. This was my favorite area!!!! SO atmospheric, and we'll probably never have something quite like it again. And it just screamed Halloween.
Another amazing 2D recreation. These have actually been my favorite levels that I have seen from Mario Maker. Yeah, nostalgia is a part of it but you have done such an amazing job making these levels! While I watch the playthrough I have this big grin on my face the whole time because I recognize the nods to the original levels from Super Mario 64. Fantastic job! When I finally get Mario Maker I will definitely be snagging these. P.S. This is my favorite one yet. Not just for the recreation but for the technical side too. Duplicate mansions and rooms to get around the four door limit? Clever as hell. 10/10, would Mario again.
Top Five things you didn't know about the Idea Booklet: 1. Iwata's Memorial on P.73 2. Warp Zone Locations on P.64, 72,81,93, and 94 3. Koji Kondo's performance on P. 02 4. Tezuka and Miyamoto Performance signature on p.96 5. On P. 72 all of the numbers on the sticky note including the scratched out ones detail the same level. All but the first one are hidden codes on those pages. GL.
This was the first level I ever played in Super Mario Maker. Great job Andre, I like the idea of N64 level re-makes. I'm gonna need another day to beat Star Frogger though, lol.
At this rate, tiny huge island will be made before I can!! Just think... Warp pipes leading to a sub world of giant enemies in a scaled up version of the original world! Could totally work in this game.
You know, in a way, having to run through that one Boo-infested room before the starman wears out is kind of like having to get through the same room in the original with the Vanish Cap in order to reach the sixth star in the attic.
I thought there was no way you could do this one, but you did a fine job. I want to buy this game just to play other people's creations, particularly any you guys put together.
That was amazing! I wish I could be this creative! My levels are all right... I try to keep a normal Nintendo-ish feel to them. (By that I mean I try to make actual levels that feel like they'd be in a Mario game)
Easter Egg: There are rare death soundtracks that can play when you fall in a pit, such as Mario getting in a car and driving away, and one where he apparently meets all his other past lives which fell in the pit.
It's pretty funny, I was playing this Mario maker level, then thought to myself I want to know tips of how to make some levels as awesome as this one I'm playing. I search for tips on TH-cam, one of your videos pop up and it was a really helpful awesome video so I subscribed. Anyways, as I'm looking through your videos I find this one, the boo level. This is the level I was playing which made me want to find tips of how to create in the first place. Crazy. This is a really fun creative level and I'm going to be playing all your levels now. Thanks buddy. 😀
I'd say this is your best level yet, due to the pipe integration (which somehow reminds me of another Zelda themed video that was posted recently...) Kudos!
Hey guys. Just noticed a potential "cool bits" within Mario Maker. As you know, when placing an item down it plays a noise that plays out the main melody depending on the stage you're on. What I've only just noticed is that it actually says the name of the item you're placing. Noticed on the SMW castle theme when I suddenly heard the words "Yoshi Egg."
Not quite as faithful as your Bob-omb Mountain level, but it's still REALLY cool! A really good puzzle, honestly, and GREAT as a stand alone. I wish you could make it so you had to hit those question mark blocks in a different order, though. It's also pretty short, and I wish there were a few more enemies, at least outside the mansion, but what are ya gonna do?
You guys have not done a video on the wing cap secret. I found out that if you get a star with the modern Mario amiibo, it plays the Mario 64 wing cap theme. Like the metal Mario theme with the gold/silver Mario amiibo.
I recreated the final Bowser level in Super Mario Galaxy 2 in the game, but I forgot to save it. I'm going to try to remake more 3D levels though. This is really cool! Do some other levels from games!
Hey Andrè, I see you noticed my "Rest In Spaghetti, never forgetti" comment on Bowser's throne room. I'm super happy you saw it, and I love your videos, and have been subbed since a looooong time ago. Loved you then, love you now.
I decided to make a level based on Earthbound. Yes, it's only based on the beginning of the game (Onett specifically) *and* it's kinda easy, but I put a bit of time into it and want to know what you guys think of it. If I get enough stars, I'll make more since people like it! 2614-0000-0043-AE39
Lethal Lava Land remake in the future? (Jeez how do you come up with such awesome ideas for levels? The possibilities of your guys minds seem endless [kinda like my thoughts]) c:
You do a lot of Mario 64 remakes. Can you possibly do a Galaxy or Sunshine remake?
That'd be freaking awesome
+TheVikingEntertainer I made a remake of Corona Mountain from Sunshine, if anyone wants to try it: B056-0000-001A-92B7
+Harrison Baucom That's good and pretty accurate if I do say myself
I am going to make a Mario Galaxy level of the Dino piranha level, can anyone help me with ideas on how to make this transition from 3D to 2D?
Today I made a good egg galaxy level. I'll upload it tomorrow
This is so clever! Tick Tock Clock will be perfect :O
+Smash Highlights HOW DARE YOU! YOU SHOULD BE MAKING THE LITTLE MAC PLATFORMER BLOOOAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGG!
+Adam Hussey OHHH NOOOOOOO!
+Smash Highlights OH YEAH!
+Smash Highlights I need some tips with Toon Link! Please!!
tip one. pick someone else
LOVE IT! These recreations inspire me when i make mario levels, they're so well done.
It would've been cool if the chain-chomp "piano" was un shackled and free.
But...will we have a "ghost" of a chance of beating this level?
Lol
lol i get the reference
ugh.. yugio abriged pointed that overused taunt out lol
That was awful. BOOOOO!!
+TripleJump ...
I see what you did there.
Very, very well played.
I don't know what it is... the same thing happened with Bob-Omb Battlefield, but whenever you re-create Mario 64 levels in Mario Maker I'm filled with so much joy and it makes my day.

Someone needs to recreate this in Mario Maker 2 now.
The way you work around the limitations of the level editor is ingenious. Great job!
Wow what a GREAT level! Why don't you make a bowser in the dark world level?
I immediately got excited when I saw this in my sub box. This was my favorite area!!!! SO atmospheric, and we'll probably never have something quite like it again.
And it just screamed Halloween.

It's cool how you used all these little tricks to make the level seem bigger than it is.

Its only a matter of time before someone 2dfies thwomp fortress
Ii already have
Nintendo UK played one of those.
+NintendoTurial I did :D 7066-0000-003D-E794
+ButtonBasher I did too. Just don't remember the code
+NintendoTurial It's not possible because there are ramps in SM64 and not in SMM :(
Please do more of these! I've been really enjoying these Mario 64 recreations, good job :)
Your 64 recreations are awesome. Keep up the good work!
This was the first level I ever played in Super Mario Maker. Great job Andre, I like the idea of N64 level re-makes. I'm gonna need another day to beat Star Frogger though, lol.
Once again... you make a great level designer. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo wanted you to be a level designer for them in the future.
At this rate, tiny huge island will be made before I can!! Just think... Warp pipes leading to a sub world of giant enemies in a scaled up version of the original world! Could totally work in this game.
+aMkinfinity I did :D B945-0000-0023-942F
+aMkinfinity Well... if you consider that there's a level like this in Super Mario Bros. 3...
Pretty sure there is a sample level that is a remix of a level in SMB3 that does the same.
Please remake this in Super Mario Maker 2!
This is the most amazing recreation !
Genius.
This is a really neat level! Great job, Andre!
Nice level! I love how you split the mansion between two worlds.
You're crazy, that's amazing. Great implementation into 2D!
Fantastic! One of your best levels yet
That's a really good recreation, especially for being 2D
0:16 look at mario closely! It's the low poly mario
Best one yet! Love these SM64 stages
You know, in a way, having to run through that one Boo-infested room before the starman wears out is kind of like having to get through the same room in the original with the Vanish Cap in order to reach the sixth star in the attic.
makes me nostalgic for early littlebigplanet
Dat meticulousness... Andre, this is spectacular.
I thought there was no way you could do this one, but you did a fine job. I want to buy this game just to play other people's creations, particularly any you guys put together.
You should've made the cannons shoot fast cannonballs to truly represent the books.
That was amazing! I wish I could be this creative! My levels are all right... I try to keep a normal Nintendo-ish feel to them. (By that I mean I try to make actual levels that feel like they'd be in a Mario game)

thats a really great recreation! perfect
loved it
it must have taken years to create this haha
I really love the Mario 64 recreation stages! Would love to see some more of them!
+Enzevil I already created some, in my project called "SM64 in SMM". :)
Here a taste: B945-0000-0023-942F (Tiny-Huge Island)
I love the work you put into making this level, but did you have to make it so hard?
Do Good Egg Galaxy or maybe a level from Sunshine X3
No, I did a pnna park, they can't take my idea, but it does suck...
+Official EnricosUt I did a Pinna Park as well.
I really like this level! Great job!
Amazing work, can't wait to see more remakes!
favorite one so far keep doing the super mario 64 levels! maybe even do some Sunshine levels? Good work!
No, I did pinna park I don't want someone to do it better!
Amazing work the effort you put into this level is fantastic
Awesome level as always! Could you try to make hazy maze cave next? That was my favourite course is SM64
Good job your levels are creative and fun!
I'd say this is your best level yet, due to the pipe integration (which somehow reminds me of another Zelda themed video that was posted recently...) Kudos!
Nicely done. Wonder what other areas could try to make on here?
Cool 2D remakes of Super Mario 64 levels!
Nice video Andre! Do you think that you could do bowsers castle from sm64?
Wow, this is mind blowing!
ANDRE! YOU'RE GOOD AT LEVELS!
This is probably one of the best maps so far! :D

+GameXplain I think I'm gonna make a whomp fortress recreation! also, how do you change you in-game cursor?
Neat recreation. I hope to play this stage.
I think Nintendo needs to hire you, Andre
This is a great recreation! I wish I could play it.

this level is the best i ever played on mario maker. it's amazing !!!
Hey Andrè, I see you noticed my "Rest In Spaghetti, never forgetti" comment on Bowser's throne room. I'm super happy you saw it, and I love your videos, and have been subbed since a looooong time ago. Loved you then, love you now.
I would love to see a recreation of bowsers first level in sm64.how would you do those mines, bombs on tracks?
Loving your SM64 Levels, I hope he does a (Th)whomps fortress!
One thing I don't understand, is why the sounds you make when using the mic, only come up as the chirping bird sound when you upload the course?
cough inappropriate sounds cough swears cough cough
+NewController01 because Nintendo doesn't want "bad things" to be said.
+The Golden Ninja If that's the case, why bother having the function in the game at all?
+NewController01 I think it plays the recorded sounds if you download it.
+NewController01 To share with friends not online?
How do you add that ponding sound and pulsating screen? Are those special sounds that yall got some kind of way?
I never completed the red coins on Big Boos Haunt when I was younger because I was terrified of that piano
I decided to make a level based on Earthbound. Yes, it's only based on the beginning of the game (Onett specifically) *and* it's kinda easy, but I put a bit of time into it and want to know what you guys think of it.

Big boos haunt was making really well in super mario maker
Hey, is there a way to view a stage's ID code after it's already uploaded?
So you can't shake a P-switch to make it not disappear when it times out? Seems like an obvious thing they should have added.
I actually really liked this
This really makes me want a Mario 64 HD.
So are you just gonna re-create the entirety of Super Mario 64 now?
that would be kind of awesome actually
+Mitch L (Mitten) I know a guy who's making OoT in mario maker.
+Mitch L (Mitten) Hey! I do! I created Course 2, 5, 12 and 13 yet. Course 6 (Hazy Maze Cave) is my next.
It's all in my project called "SM64 in SMM"
You know what would be AMAZING?! SUPER MARIO 3D MAKER (with 64 Sunshine and Galaxy themes!) Then I'd like to see some remakes ;)
How you did an exit pipe without a taking you to a sub world?
Imagine my surprise when I checked out the creator list and found Andre as the #3 top creator.
How did you put the windows in the front of the mansion?
Could you recreate something from Mario Galaxy?
whats cool is that you have to hurry to the attic with a star just like how you had to hurry to the attic with the vanish cap in the original level!
This game have so much charm 😃
Andre really loves SM64. I wonder what's next.
Congratulations, Arino Shinya from Game Center CX played this course.
Lethal Lava Land remake in the future? (Jeez how do you come up with such awesome ideas for levels? The possibilities of your guys minds seem endless [kinda like my thoughts]) c:
How did you get more than one recorded sound effect?
Do you guys plan on making a video showing how many stars are needed to increase the level upload cap each time?
Hey, how do you make things fall off rails? I can't figure it out. Every time I mess with them, the items always come back.
+Zach isn't funny Tap the end of the track to turn off the block
Your good at recreating Gamexplain!
So, you put to use the pipe trick from the zelda temple level, pretty cool
Please remake the rest of SM64 because I absolutely love that game and these levels are awesome!
+dascottman33 I have a project called "SM64 in SMM" I created already Course 2, 5, 12 and 13. My next is Course 6 :)
Can't wait for hazy maze :)
This level featured on GameCenter CX.
That's pretty awesome.
Course ID: 9966-0000-0046-AA12
Snowhead Temple from majoras mask.
like levels that seem like they could be in an actual mario game
to do the doors on the sides, you can place warp pipes
How do you do the spinning Toads in the background?
+Duke Gundam Shake the Bowser-head sound effect
Very impressive!
You are amazing i wish i had a wii U and that game it would be awesome
