What are your thoughts about The Bear on Hulu? We've been eyeing it...
I’ve been eyeing it too
It’s so well acted, written, directed…an incredible story
It's really good. Highly recommend!
Do it
Such a great show
Main reason Beard gave the 3 lads a pass to go to Richmond Road ground is the fact they never go to matches because they can’t afford to. 😊
I don’t think that’s the main reason. Any hardcore fan would kill to have a chance to play ball with their friends in the actual field where their team always plays.
This may sound weird, but that’s the only scene in movies or TV to legitimately make me cry. Their expressions going from having a fun night to concern and uncertainty to just pure joy and bliss was so well done.
Thierry Henry is one of the best soccer players of all time and is now a pundit for European games. Crazy that they got him and Gary Lineker for the show.
They had Ian Wright earlier in the season.
Gary Lineker had quite the career himself too!
Henry will forever be one of the great Football players to ever exist. Great to see him still be around.
Henry also gets criticized sometimes for being too kind in his commentary. So having him savage Beard was extra.
Henry played in America too, he should be known at least.
Blue moons aren't actually blue, but it is a cool use of symbolism here! The song "Blue Moon" is the fan anthem of Man City-you can hear them singing it in the stands in the previous episode. So the blue moon following him around all night symbolizes that he can't stop thinking about their failure during the match. They also use the song in the soundtrack twice: Once in the last episode when Richmond was getting beat by Man City, and then again in this episode while Beard is getting beat up by Jamie's dad.
Wow. I didn't notice this when I was watching the show, Now it makes a lot of sense.
@@afrarehman760no, it doesn’t.
Listen, you don’t know what the blue moon symbolizes, you just have a guess/theory. And honestly… I think it’s a pretty bad one.
Martin Scorsese produced a film in 1985 called After Hours, starring Griffin Dunne. The basic plot was an ordinary guy who tries to have an ordinary night, but strange things keep happening to him and the night just gets weirder and weirder as it goes on. This episode has some interesting similarities.
It's also an adaptation/retelling of The Wizard of Oz. (which 👀 iykyk)
Beard After Hours is definitely based on Scorsese's "After Hours".
The episode is directly based on that movie! Right down to the title and a number of references and Easter eggs.
@@wordywolf3how so?
They should do a movie reaction to "After Hours" on this channel.
Did I hear Pat say “people don’t know Queen but everyone knows The Mighty Ducks?” Hahaha
I always interpreted that the commentators were in his head throughout, but then at the club they were actually there (which is why he looks at them kind of weird and then the camera shows what they are saying to each other even though Beard wouldn't be able to hear them).
I love that this is a full homage to Scorsese's "After Hours." The surreal weirdness of the night just so suits Beard's man of mystery personality. You get the sense that nights like this always happen to him when he's off-camera.
So fun fact this season was supposed to be 10 episodes long and the writers wrote it that way but they got 12 episodes order, so they had to create more story for 2 episodes..so that's why we had the christmas episode and this beard episode which feel so out of regular story of the show bit i equally adore both of those episodes
yeah its incredibly obvious which 2 episodes they added lol you could just lift both right out of the narrative and it doesn't change a thing lol
@@KS-xk2soyou can even tell with Pat’s comment “where’s that Believe [poster]?” at the end of the reaction; they’d already filmed the finale at that point…
@@KS-xk2so Yup but the depth that we get to know the characters does. And for the Christmas episode, we see that come back in other ways here and of course see some aspects of Beard's journey revisited.
5:21 yeah exactly so pubs are specifically what you would call “day drinking”, we don’t have that phrase here cause there no need for it 😂 there’s nothing to distinguish from. That’s for drinking between about 11.30am - 11.30pm. Then, if you can still stand, you go to the bars and clubs that stay open all night 👍
I love this fever dream of an episode. I totally get people who don't like how weird it is, but I completely love it.
The commentators are representative of Beard's inner dialog, doubts & and self-loathing. He's analyzing his situation the way they analyze the beautiful game.⚽️
Beard's actor was on Community.
🎶JESUUUUUUS LOVES MARIJUANA🎶
And drinking human bloooooood
"Shut up, Thierry Henry."
Beard playing the role of a "snooty British professor"? No, he was playing the role of a genial _Irish_ professor!
And Mike Dean ("as himself") is not a sports presenter, he is a football referee - he showed Nate the yellow card when Nate let rip at the officials during the game.
beard and jane are co-dependent
Exactly
"i listen more than i talk" i like coach beard
"Blue moon" just means rare - the moon does not actually look blue. It's rare to have more than one full moon in a month just because of how we've organized time, so if there's a second full moon in a single month it's called a blue moon. Which is why "once in a blue moon" means "doesn't happen often." And yes, the two football announcers are real football announcers in England.
Beard can hula hoop, he's done shows where he hula hoops during the whole show on stage.
Gotta say, this episode went from being my least favorite to being a Top 5, the more times I watch it
was mine favorite since the first time, love beard
@@jacowich
same
3 of you have great chemistry and are fun to watch your reactions. Pat is freakin annoying.
Absolutely love these weird adventure episodes. Plus, Beard is a great character.
The way Navi pronounced Thierry Henry is so funny😂😂😂😂
Great (re-)watching this episode with y'all. Fun reactions!
Pubs in England/the UK don’t close that early at all… *but* I did notice on my travels that it seems to be much more commonplace in London for some reason. It was a real shock to the system the first time I went out in the city when I was old enough to drink. Left my hotel at like 9:30pm to go out for a few hours and by the time I got into Camden everything was closing in like an hour or so. I don’t know if that’s widespread in the city, or just certain areas or what. Being the capital I just naturally assumed it would be in line with the “city never sleeps” status around other parts of the world (and in fact, the country).
Pubs shut early, bars do not. That's the difference. Plenty of bars stay open until 2am or later. Pubs though tend to close at around midnight or a touch earlier.
@@TheMaximus997 Good to know! I’ll just have to so a little research next time rather than assuming.
Mike Dean is the ref who gave Nate a yellow card in the FA Cup semifinal against Man City. The pub guys are Paul, Baz, and Jeremy (PB & J). :)
This episode has a great pedigree... its an homage to the Martin Scorsese film "After Hours," which I think was inspired by James Joyce's novel "Ulysses," which is based on Homer's epic "The Odyssey"
I love how surrealistic this episode was.
I didn't even think of that, following the woman in red after talking about how we live in a simulation. Nice Matrix call back!
It's amazing they made a Funko pop of beard with the hat, shiny pants and hula hoop. I saw that in a store before I saw this ep and was insanely curious WTF that was about lol
Mike Dean was one of the refs. He is a ref in the premier league.
3:15 that's Thierry Henry, a legend of football
This was literally "The Zeppo".
The Beardisode.
I love the fight club reference in this episode
18:16 oh Pat...
Terry Henry was hysterical. His name is Thierry Henry. His last name is pronounced On-ri with an almost silent h
This episode is... well it is...
But Normies, the next episode... IMHO, the next episode is the first of 4, along with 3 more episodes that establish TL as one of the greatest comedic/dramady television series of all-time. Enjoy!
This one really threw me for a loop on first watch but this was my like 3rd watch and it’s a good episode. A departure for sure
at least in germany it is not unheard of to come home without a shirt after a nights out :D
PAT: You are going to get somebody killed.
Hello guys. This is like an extra episode bc Apple wanted 12 instead of the 10 fron S1.
The beard episode!!! 😂😂
Omg these children have never heard “once in a blue moon” before?? That’s absurdly embarrassing! lol
Bwahaha! Nobody knows about Queen?!?
I’m here and always come back for Pat’s ridiculous takes 😂😂❤❤
There’s also the That’s No Moon moon.
Being British it's so weird to me to see them not immediately recognise Gary Lineker and Thierry Henry.
It's also strange that they don't seem to know the saying 'once in a blue moon'.
8:15 nah, listen to Suraj, he knows what's up
I swear Pat and Rob from RTtv are both doing the same thing to just annoy people.
I like Rob.
19:24 that’s what she said
👎
The two commentors were in his head...the rest was not
Is Pat trolling us about Queen?
Thought there was some interesting discussions about relationships and break ups and a similar line of thought with Funnylilgal. Once you break up there's no getting back together, but aren't we all hoping that Ted and his ex-wife to get back together? Why do we do this to ourselves? :p
I’m not hoping he gets back together with his ex wife. I want him and Sassy together.
But to answer your question, I’d say people who don’t get back together with their ex do so because they know whatever was troubling their relationship hasn’t gone away. But generally most people root for couples to get back together in movies and tv shows because they want to live vicariously through the characters and experience the fantasy of a couple fixing/ignoring their issues and focusing on love. Something that usually can only happen in movies. It’s an idealistic view of love.
Beard looks so much like Louis CK
Funny how they not recognize Henry and Lineker
The Queen movie is absolute grabage
It was so clear, that they dont recognazie thierry henry, one of the best football striker of the 00s (in my opinion the best) and the best Premier League Player of all time.
They said from the beginning they don’t know a lot about football
they don’t watch football and he’s a former player so it’s understandable
Not everyone watches sports, especially futbol in the US
Yeah. So?
I’m a firm believer that there are some people are supposed to be alone during certain periods of their lives… Beard was supposed to be an assistant coach in the EU, not a boyfriend… he was supposed to have that perfect pickup line that first night in that bar, and then just let it go… with how he is with Ted after all this…. [PSHH]… you’ll see
I love this weird episode. But a ton of people hate it. Like the Christmas episode it was written after the rest of the season when Apple expanded the episode order. To me this is much better than the Christmas ep, because it genuinely tries for something original. And Beard is SUCH an enigma up to this point, it was a great idea to let us know he's even weirder than we'd thought.
Surge, for the love of god man just because something is weird or different doesn’t mean it has to be drug related…
Not Rana name dropping The Patron Saint 😂 I DJ there!!!!
👍
Pat….no one knows about Queen…..wtf?!
Britishta
You dont sue people in england for fighting lol
Bingo
Assaulting a single person with two of your friends it's hardly a fight.
Nice, a new Ted Lasso reaction.. oh.. it's *this* one
One of the worst Ted Lasso episodes but it’s fine, we’re past it, next week it’s an awesome one.
One of the best episodes, what's wrong with you?
It's not one of the best but season 2 was meant to be 10 episodes when apple requested it be extended to 12 so the Xmas episode (episode 4) and this episode were filmed last and added to the season as 'bonus content'
@@GodofMMA23 Exactly, it completely broke the rhythm of the show. Ted’s confession at the end of episode 8 to this to then what happens in episode 10. Clearly this episode shouldn’t have been there. It also added zero to the show in any meaningful way.
It’s the most polarizing. If this is a shows worst episode then obviously you have a great show on your hands. ❤
I love this episode. They needed filler for an extra episode and this was a fascinating way to do that.
Wiredest episode ever that I’ll never watch again
Sorry but I'll pass,
I watched it once and it's,.......
Weird
Never follow the women in red… also it’s pretty fucked up to joke about killing your dog
pat is right. "nobody knlws queen everybody knows the mighty ducks"
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH 90s kids unite!
