The guy who Roy called a Shit Manager was the coach of Richmond who Rebecca fired in the first scene of the show, so Roy would know how he was as a coach
I can understand people watching it as it aired maybe missing it because it was years between airings, but if you're binge watching the show, how do people just forget something that happened 10 episodes ago...
I’m not sure, but I think Keeley had nothing to do with choosing of Dubai Air. Rebecca said he was a friend of Rupert’s, so I think they were already team sponsors back when he was the owner. Keeley just arranged Sam to do a photoshoot for them because he is getting popular as a player and more recognizable. Also, the Middle-eastern airline was a joke from the original Ted Lasso sketch (or the second one I’m not sure), because a lot of them sponsor teams in real life, such as Qatar Airlines and Barcelona.
They know the team’s association with DA wasn’t on Keely. Keely got Sam the photo shoot and spokesperson gig. They actually gave Keely some grace bc DA was already the team’s sponsor and forgave her for not doing more due diligence on them before letting Sam sign on as spokesperson.
What I think a lot of people don't realize is that Phil Dunster (Jamie) is doing an accent on this show. His normal accent is a little more posh. I think it's a little funny too that Anthony Head who had a posh accent on Buffy is using his actual accent on this show.
Loving these Ted Lasso reactions! Thought I'd add a few things to be aware of from a local (UK) perspective on this episode, shirt sponsorships, the Premier League, and "soccer": - There's been an increase in debate on shirt sponsorships in recent years, especially with gambling, there's talks of a ban on them sponsoring football teams as it's becoming a bigger problem and gambling companies are the most common industry that sponsors Premier League shirts - Middle eastern/Arab companies & oil/airlines are intrinsincly linked to the premier league now, with Arsenal's stadium the Emirates literally being named after the airline. Newcastle recently became the richest football club in the world as it was bought by a Saudi Arabia consortium, Man City is owned by Sheikh Mansour, one of the richest & most powerful men in the middle east. Other teams with Arab ownership include Aston Villa, Sheffield United. - This influence is not just premier league/UK centric but includes football as a whole, with other european teams either being owned by Gulf companies (PSG) or having very close financial ties, like Barcelona. Then you have events like the recent world cup in Qatar that was highly controversial. - The ties between airlines & oil is very strong too, with many airlines being owned by the government or oil companies, many countries use airline sponsorships through sports as a way to increase soft power/tourism. I really liked how this Ted Lasso episode explored the issues with shirt sponsorships in Football and the morality involved, with the lesson that more of those in privileged positions, like football players/managers, should take a stand. As someone mentioned in the reaction there are numerious sister/parent companies & many of these are parts of huge conglomates or royal families that have more power & influence than their own governments. Who is to blame for what? Doesn't always have a simple answer. Especially when 40% of GDP in the gulf is from fossil fuels & many are exported around the world to developed countries to fuel our high living standards. That's before you look at the historic meddling in foreign countries by countries like the UK & USA, we have a habit of installing dictators & then complaining when they dictate.
my man suraj - life is politics everything is politics people need to pay attention to how the world works and not come up with the cop out ''oh i didn't know THEY did that'' anyway this show is funny as fk
The reason Nora didn’t care about what her and Rebecca did together is because she hadn’t seen her for 6 years. She didn’t want to just get money to do her own thing, she wanted to spend time with her.
That was really obvious and I don't think it needed an explanation but whatever. They're normies. They sometimes miss obvious things and see the most subtle shit.
This show is a true masterpiece that’ll never be repeated. Constantly getting you in your emotions even though there is no “high drama”, it’s “small” personal choices and growth. There were episodes where I was tearing up/crying basically the whole time.
Remember that Roy says “Kids just want to feel like they are apart of our lives.” We are not kids, so sitting in at a pediatrist appt or in meetings is boring to us. But to a kid or teenager they don’t care. They just want to spend time with us.
Guys, no show has ever used a real company as the villain unless it was a historical show specifically about that company, studios don't want a libel lawsuit. Anyway, good reaction, I definitely cried a little too.
Hello guys 👋🏻. Great episode. Guys Roy is not the only one to join MCU, Hercules in the Love and Thunder credit scene. But, Rojas was in the after credits scene for No Way Home as the bartender taking to Eddie/Venom.

WRT Keeley's fault for the Dubai Air stuff - The team was sponsored by Dubai Air long before she started helping the club. It was actually a RUPERT move/decision from before season 1. I don't see it as Keeley's fault at all.
You guys need to see the original Ted Lasso skits Jason Sudiekis did for NBC to promote Football in the US and although it is wildly different it is hilarious, that version of Ted Lasso is ignorant and idiot and brash and the show version is so heartwarming

Kids do just want to do what they see the adults in their life doing... my nieces and nephew want to play modern strategy board games, because they see us adults playing them all the time. If they saw us smoking and getting drunk and using drugs, that's what they'd want to do also, because they'd think that's what adults do and they want to be adults. (Obviously this doesn't always happen... but a lot better chance of having good kids if they are around good adults.)

In the Diamond Dogs episode, Keeley asks Isaac, Sam & Colin what kind of marketing jobs they would like. Sam says "Issue oriented products- pro-environment or anti-pollution & Air Jordans". So yeah, Keeley did drop the ball putting Sam on the Dubai Air campaign
But why would a dubai company does this? they have their own oil , no? And they're already rich because of it. It would only make sense if it's like BP or Chevron, but i think they're afraid to get sued
All through season one, fans of the show (myself included) complained that they weren't selling Richmond Jerseys on the website. This episode is when we found out WHY. It was actually pretty smart of them.
I’m pretty sure everyone saying season 2 was a letdown are the people who binged s1 then watched s2 week-to-week. And S3 has been better than S1 by far, what? The comedy is on point and the drama is at its best.
This one was a hard watch...editing kept cutting off during mid sentence actors to focus on the couch screaming and laughing...mics might have been a little too close cause it was hard to hear and follow what was going on
I appreciated the fact that though Keeley may have dropped the ball by not vetting Sam's photoshoot for Dubai Air, she accepted his "resignation" and didn't try to push him into continuing being spokesman for them.
Nah. Their protest does nothing to affect the game. It’s not like they refused to play, or threw the game. They just covered up an Ad on their jerseys.
Too disruptive can become off-putting and turn people away from the very cause you want to support. Look at how peta does shit and everyone trashes them. Normal people wanting to unwind and watch a game and forget their stress and drama in life would likely get annoyed by the disruption like we saw in American football. Making every single aspect of society at every moment stand for something or disruptive to people's peace is not a sustainable way for anything to succeed. Good in them for having opinions and using fame for good, just be smart about it
