You can definitely do this with a sewing machine - you don’t have to get a serger. Just use the zig zag stitch on your machine :)

I bought a super large sweatshirt because it was the only size in pink, and I just had this idea to make shorts and googled for any tutorials. Thank goodness I found this video, much easier than figuring it out on my own!

Although I didn’t know what to do with the remains. Then I thought if shorts or a skirt! But I didn’t know how to make it with limited fabric. So I looked up a video that has to do with cropped hoodies and shorts! I found yours and the tutorial was so great! Thank you!

This method works best for stretchy fabrics I think! Some hoodie materials fray so you would probably need to fold over the edges and sew for the cropped hoodie!
I found a sweatshirt at goodwill for $5 and just made this! You saved me so much rather than buying!

To make the pattern for the front bit just fold your shorts (or whatever you’re using to trace your pattern) towards the front that way you have adequate space for both sides if that makes sense.
