Love seeing this type of close matchup, so crazy at how good of a platform the S2K is 18 years after launch. Maybe you could do a comparison with the 350z vs. frs/S2K or something before it's all setup for drift. Feel like that would be a pretty fun and close match.
@CLP yeah, IS300? Torque helps a lot in a drag race. But you put any NA 2.0 against the F20c we know how that ends up, the bottom line is the S2000 is an amazing piece of engineering for it's time.

Reading the comment section, you guys had some good points. But this was a run what you brought scenario, and seeing a 10+ year old car, pretty stock, with some minor upgrades, run a near similar lap time to a purpose built track new car, tells you what Honda brought to the game when they built this car. it was meant to drive, either on the street or the track. if this was a stock vs stock battle, its no contest the s2k would have blowing it away, but even losing this challenge, it was still a beast of a contender, and a damn blast to watch. Can't wait to see what the badass2000 brings to the table in the future! Great Job Guys!
You know the S2K in this video has $35,000 worth of modifications done to it, right? AND the guys say with everything done to the motor, it is putting out 260 WHP... SO not really that much different then how modified the FRS is. The FRS stock makes about 170 or less WHP, so without some form of FI, the FRS would not even be competitive to the 260 WHP of the S2K. The way the cars sit now, their power to weight ratios are fairly close.
This battle just shows and proves what Mr Spoon has stated about Type Rs and S2000s compared to the FRS/BRZ. The BRZ is a “sporty” car but not a true sports car. It would take 3-4 times the amount of money/modifications to get it to perform at the same high level of performance as the s2000 or a type R. Now....gut the s2000, turbocharge it, and let’s see how close it is! This really shows how incredibly powerful and efficient the F series engine is. 120hp per liter. more than any other production car engine ever made in history.
Putting k24 in the s2000 is becoming a trend, but put a supercharger and a 4.7 final drive in the f20 or the f22 and will still have something to say......
Really cool video. Would be neat if y'all could give more specs on weight, HP, etc. I wonder how it would change with forced induction on the S2000 as well. Anyway, great video!

Awesome video! Here is some more feedback on the tire... I ran a trackday with those tires on my turbo miata at NCM Bowling green KY a couple weeks ago. Very impressed with how well the conti's held up on track and its nice you can daily drive them on the street. However, I did toss on my Nitto NT01s and Noticed a huge grip improvement on heavy breaking and at the limit. Overall, the conti's are a great bang for the buck dual duty tire, however they don't replace a dedicated sticky trackday tire.
Agreed, you cant really compare them to an NT01 which is meant for track use though. No one drives on NT01s regularly and if they do they wear out way too fast.
Love it guys, but cut the roll races and change it up to a standing start. True Touge Battle style. Maybe if this becomes a style of video we see on this channel often you can start cutting the field of cars into classes, for example the s2000 might be a 250hp or less car and the FRS might be a 350hp or less car. Just some suggestions, I’m excited to see how this shapes up in the future and I hope this becomes a regular series for this channel.
That fact that a Stock S2000 is keeping up with gutted, supercharged FRS/BRZ goes to show that the S2K is definitely the car to go with. If the S2000 was supercharged the FRS/BRZ would be blown away and be no match.
The S2K has $35,000 worth of modifications done to it, and the guys say with everything done to the motor, it puts out about 260 WHP. SO that is not "stock".
Its a stock F22 that puts out 240HP to the crank, not to the wheels. With a tune you might get 260HP, but again its not being put down on the wheels. Its all going to the crank. Unless the Engine itself has been modded with at least some cams, springs, rods, pistons, stroked crank, fuel, plus a tune then yes 260+WHP is achievable, but simply adding a CAI and Exhaust isn’t going to bump you up from stock 190-210whp to 260whp.
I am not the one stating that the S2K has 260 WHP, I am going off of the information that the presenters are saying, and all of the modification, build, and power information they are putting out. The guys that built it are saying that with all of the work they have done to the engine, it was putting out 260 WHP... SO please direct your rebuttable to them if you think they are wrong. BUT as I stated in my last comment the presenters have said they have $35,000 in modifications/upgrades to the S2k... SO NOTHING about the S2K can be considered "stock".
Nothing about the s2k is stock other than the Engine. I apologize for the misinformation as to when i say “stock" im only speaking in regards to the engine itself. Its possible to have obtained 260WHP with the original motor they had with the ITB’s, but after swaping it with the F22C with no internal mods other than tune it just wont put out 260WHP and i believe you're right, the presenters could give us more in depth information about both vehicles. I also believe that spending $35,000 in mods/upgrades can also be refered to engine swap, alignment, aero, tires, etc. If $35k were spent on the motor itself im sure it would be making 260whp easy, possibly even 400whp if kept N/A of course, but thats just not the case.
Perhaps it made 260whp at some point with the previous engine, if you follow the last few videos on it, it is currently running a stock AP2 motor, which they stated at even in this video is making sub 210whp.
Love track racing. Track racing is more challenging to me. Its not just about the car; its also about the driver. Can you guys get some drones and apex cameras to capture footage during a race? I would like to see these cars in action.

Do a head to head video of a 987 cayman s vs a 370z, both with 6mt
Or
Rx8 vs ND Miata with 181hp
Both would be good content that no one has already covered on TH-cam
Great video! More track battles!! Btw what was the red flashing light in the FRS?
I love Continental tyres, my favorite Tyre to buy in this day and age 👆👍
you can tell that during vtec he doesn't pull away but as soon as the s2000 shift and is further down the revs zero oopf Surprised how close it was. Both cars look so awesome.
When 2 full car lengths is “pulling away just by a little bit” these people clearly don’t drag that much😂😂
More Honda content !!!! Good battle for sure despite the FRS being a more aggressive package all around.
An itb s2000 vs supercharger frs wouldve been a good match to watch. Suck that the itb didnt work out too well.
Hit that like button before the video even loaded!
