Please tell me you’re going to SLOVENIA next!!! My grandparents were from there and I’ve been twice! The most beautiful country 😍 make sure you check out Bled, Soča, Jezero jansa and down south Postojna Jama and Piran. All just stunning places and the people are so nice!
🎉 you both look so Happy... No matter how "touristy" a place is if its on your bucket list i say go for it... Life short & no one can take away your happiness but you ❤❤❤
That's a fun way to go about it. We purposefully got lost a few times to see what we could find. Pretty easy to get yourself lost there, which was perfect.
You bet! It was so enjoyable. Based on how people talk about it, we really weren't sure if we would like being here. Glad we decided to just go for it and make the best of our own experience.
Love this! We did Italy too this past August. Since it was our first time and we only had 4 days, we stuck with Rome but Venice is definitely on my list and you've only reaffirmed my choice!
I feel like this video is more relaxed and natural than some of your earlier content. Maybe you’re switching up the style, or just getting more comfortable?! I really liked it!
6:00 I really relate to your Italian being messed up by your Spanish, Tony! I'm Dutch but my German was always quite good (started learning it from TV when I was very little). However, since learning Norwegian (my partner's other native language besides Dutch), my Norwegian keeps intruding whenever I travel to German and want to say something! So frustrating!
It's so bad. And my Spanish isn't that great either. It's just in the forefront of my mind so my brain goes you have to speak in another language and I spew out the wrong one. 😅
Yea I got that diagonally feeling also. I’m with you with that. So beautiful. I know Sarah I was thinking about the Vegas one too. I went on that one also. It probably cost less Get a gondola in Las Vegas then it does in France. Some grocery stores sell those small bottles of wine. I can’t wait to go to Venice.
I think the croissant-like pastry in Italy is a cornetto (maybe someone more familiar knows?). Recently had an excellent pistachio croissant in Boston, so good! Not sure if that's a new thing but I'm a fan. I LOVE the almond croissants in France but I think I prefer pistachio because it wasn't as sweet. Probably a sacrilege to add pistachio in France unfortunately. Had a similar experience with blurting out Spanish in Italy. Sorry to all the Italians! Although we traveled to Italy once with a couple Spanish-only speaking family members and they had such an easy time communicating. Could almost have whole conversations with each person speaking their native language. Pretty cool! At least you were trying, the effort goes a long way 🥰
Big Fan! Still needing to try an almond croissants straight from France. I've had them here in the states and they are pretty solid. It also doesn't help me that there are a lot of similarities in the languages.
If you guys decide to go back to Italy, try Carbonara in Rome as that is where it originally comes from. Italy is very regional with the food cuisine. Another example, Margherita pizza can be found all over Italy but is the best in Naples.
I've been to Rome when I was studying abroad in London. But I was a broke college kid, and couldn't afford anything. We literally just ate gelato and found free food. Great trip. I want to recreate that, but with more food options 😅
Y’all we were just in Venice 2 days ago. Wish we’d had your video then or bumped into you ☺️. What a gorgeous place to visit. Large crowds and all - totally worth it.
@@faredrop totally felt sorry for yall you couldn't stay longer but have a feeling the next place is just as magical. I adored Sarah opening Tony's bottle. It was fun. I'm glad you didn't pay for a gondola. Lol
haha I didn't even realize I did that. Just habit. We do try to be a good persons daily, but also when we travel we always tend to be conscious of how people view Americans so we try to be the good example

@@faredrop truly a lot. Years ago even in the morning, shoulder to shoulder people everywhere you went. But that's, back in that time what made it so much more special. Hi guys 👋 loved seeing Venice through your eyes. You said your next country was one on your list for a while. For a half second I thought the last pic was at Lake Cuomo but if it is a different country, I guess Austria. Safe travels! ❤
Don’t worry 😉, naps after lunch are traditional for Italy. And, for the record, the “off the beaten path” places are usually the best because they don’t cater towards tourists (ie; more authentic!).
For anyone thinking of going to visit Venice, most of the residents in Venice prefer if you find a hotel outside of the city as they hate how populated the tourist industry is in Venice, hence the start of charging those that spend a day in Venice.
No, if going to Venice, stay in Venice, eat in restaurants and buy from local retailers. The entry fee is to discourage day trippers who come to Venice, walk around whilst eating their own food and leave having spent nothing, the same goes for the Cruise ship passengers who go back on board to eat.
@@robcherry6734 Actually wrong, last time I was in Venice I was talking to someone who grew up in Venice who says that the tourism industry is hurting the city, She recommends staying in a hotel on the outskirts and taking a water taxi or train into Venice. I think someone who grew up in Venice would know better than a tourist what is right for the city they were raised in.
@@annatomasso5226 No, sorry, we go at least once a year, often for weeks at a time, no local would ever advise you to stay on the mainland and get a water taxi unless they own a water taxi company ( as each ride costs €100 per trip on average). We always stay in local apartments, rented from locals who pay the taxes too ( rental contract often comes with wax seals and ribbons showing taxes paid :-) and try to eat in restaurants and bars recommended by the locals themselves. We’re going back in a few weeks for the end of the Biennialle , and, again, will be staying in a small. apartment owned by a local .
I wonder if you were here when we visited! Staying in Venice, or just outside might be the best way to do this. We took a day trip from Bologna, and it was like during their siesta 😂 I’m guessing Switzerland for the next stop! Just got back, and it was amazing.
When were you there? We stayed in Venice, but folks have been saying it's best to stay outside and take the boat in. Switzerland would be a good guess, but we're a little closer to Italy than that.
@@faredrop We were there September 7. Really enjoyed Burano during our day trip! That must mean you're in Italy still, so my next guess would be the Dolomites or Florence. We're actually traveling to the Dolomites next week.
Love Venice! I have been to Venice three different times. If you don't like how crowded it is I would highly recommend visiting the cities within the same region that are less crowded. The only problem is that most cities in Italy outside of the tourist towns only speak Italian and have no interest in learning Italian. I love my ancestral homeland but I hate how crowded it is in the summer.
I want to learn Italian. Hoping to learn Spanish first so it might be awhile. Venice wasn't that bad for us, even being there during peak travel. Hoping to see a lot more of Italy soon.
@@faredrop The languages are similar in some ways and different in other ways. Good luck on your journey of learning Spanish. Learning a language can be difficult.
Good question. Experiencing a place comes down to your own preference. For us, a day in Venice was plenty of time to experience it. Most people only spend 2-3 days there on average. Plus we wanted more time for the next leg of our trip
why don't they have capuccinos at lunch time? Thats strange, but I guess they have started drinking at lunch time, so they don't want to keep the caffeine train rolling
