Visiting Venice for the first time This video is your one-stop guide to an unforgettable Venetian adventure! We're Rick and Andrea, travel enthusiasts living in Italy, and we're here to share all our Venice tips and tricks.
In this video, you'll learn:
-The best time to visit Venice: Skip the scorching summer crowds and high prices. Opt for mild weather and fewer tourists in early spring or late fall.
-How many days to spend in Venice: Three days is a good starting point to explore the city and nearby islands like Murano and Burano.
-How to get to Venice: We cover arrival by plane (including airport transportation options) and train, plus tips for getting around by Vaporetto (water bus) or taxi.
-Where to stay in Venice: Choose from lively areas near the action or quieter neighborhoods for a more relaxed vibe. We also discuss staying on the mainland for budget-conscious travelers.
-How to get around Venice: Explore Venice's charming canals by Vaporetto, walk the walkable city center, or take a gondola ride for a romantic touch.
-What to eat in Venice: Savor delicious seafood dishes, indulge in cicchetti (Venetian tapas), and enjoy local wines like Prosecco and Spritz.
Bonus Tip: Consider hiring a local guide to discover hidden gems and unique experiences you might miss on your own.

About us:
In March 2017, Rick and Andrea (confessed Travel Addicts) started a Facebook Group called Travel Addicts as a way to share their travel photos and videos not just with their own respective friend's lists - but with the world. Part of the reason was for bragging rights (I mean, that’s kind of the point of sharing photos, right?), but also to help answer questions to others about the destinations they have visited.
After inviting some of our friends and family, it grew and grew - and as of June 2019, the group has grown to over 200,000 members! One reason for our success, we believe, is that we have done our best to ensure only high-quality photos and videos get shared, all while limiting the use of commercial content.
Congrats on being official. We are coming back to Venice again in October this year from Canada. Love it there. Thank you for all your videos and tips etc. Keep making great videos.
Thank you so much and keep us posted on how your trip goes 😊
Good morning g I am travelling first time to Venice which net work of mobile phone work I am from Uk can I use my phone Vince where can get best signals you did not mention in your v log thanks
@@this5552 Hello there, the signal in. Venice is pretty good almost everywhere, we like to use TIM but Vodafone works well too,.
Fabulous guys, very well done. Thank you.
Our pleasure! 🙏
You have so many great tips and it’s hard to find a non tourist trap restaurant- but a very small local restaurant- good for 2-3 people sit down is Osteria Al Cicheto for dinner- you can get Cicheto as a bite to eat with some wine for lunch it very close when getting off the train station, it’s the perfect 1st stop. Service is excellent- you can tell the service staff and the locals love one another. It’s fantastic to see.
Thank you !
Thanks for the video! Very useful info!

Just found you guys, I am travelling to Venice in late August, thanks for the videos and congratulations on being official.
Thank you 🙏
Wonderful Video. Heading to Venice for the first time and your video is making it look a lot Less intimidating, thank you.
Thank you 🙏 we hope you mean a lot LESS intimidating ☺️let us know how your trip goes
Yes , I meant alot Less intimidating. We made notes and are following several of your suggestions. @@TravelAddictsLife
Just booked an early access tour the the palace, prison, basilica & terrace 🤗 can’t wait and the early start I’m sure will be so worth it
Fantastic let us know how you like it 😊
Salve Andrea e Rick. I enjoy and appreciate your videos. I’m hoping to return to Venice and introduce my partner to its many wonderful attractions and sights. I’m looking for suggestions for things to do or see for someone who is returning for a second, third or more times. It sounds like you both have been many times. What do you look forward to when returning to a familiar city like Venice? Maybe an idea for a future video! The same question could be asked regarding places like Rome, Florence etc. Thanks again for your time and effort in producing these videos. La vostra amica canadese.
Thank you so much 😊 that is a great idea for a new video we will work on that and keep us posted on your plans of going back to Venice
Thank you for all your wonderful, informative and interesting videos. I was wondering if you have some suggestions for the best place to get a gondola. I would to see mostly smaller picturesque canals and not run into a gondola traffic jam 😂
If you want more of an intimate gondola ride go to the Cannaregio district of Venice it will be much quieter
Perfect timing! Love your videos, very informative! Are there any particular tours you recommend? I have found a couple of tours where a gondola ride is included. Also, for the vaporetto pass, is that a prepaid card? One more thing, I know this is not Venice related, but do you have any recommendations for a castle hotel in Florence? TIA! Btw, congrats on the invitation by the Italian Ministry of Tourism🎉
Thank you so much 😊 the Vaporetto card is a pass and you can use it as many times as you like. We don’t know any castle but we can do some research for you 😃
If it wouldn't be too much of a bother, that would be great😊
What are good side trips from Venice? Wonderful video😀

Love you guys and love your videos. I was wondering if the mainland Mestre train station is close to the Marco Polo Airport. Is it within walking distance making it easy to ride the train into S.Lucia train station ?
The Mestre train station is about 11 km (6.8 mi) from the airport
Ciao Andrea & Rick! Thank you for your tips! I'm planning to take the Alilaguna from VCE to Venice. Do they only take cash in the airport arrivals hall? Should we purchase tickets on Alilaguna's website before the trip? You recommended to buy a Vaporetto pass for our entire stay in the video, do you recommend buying the passes before the trip or after arrival in Venice? Is the official tourism website the only place to purchase the Vaporetto passes? Grazie mille.
Hello there, thank you for your comment 🙏we always like to buy tickets before we depart just to be ready, however for the vaporetto you can buy them whine you arrive in Veni at any of the automated kiosks. It is totally up to you.
Hello! I have discovered your channel while preparing for our trip this coming September. We're only staying in Venice for 2 days - arriving from Rome on the first day and leaving by night train at 9pm the following day. You suggested getting a local tour guide at the end of this video. Are you able to recommend the one that you've used? Thanks!
Thank you so much 🙏 the guide we used was Luisella she is very nice and knowledgeable here is her website www.seevenice.it/en/about-me/
Very helpful video! Do you know how the paid airport shuttles to/ from airport/hotel works?. I’m going in early June and my hotel in the St. Mark’s District. provides unpaid shuttle service
The alilaguna shuttle can be payed on the website or at the airport
Thank you for your videos on Venice. Would you recommend a first time visitor to Venice to join a tour group or go solo work as well?
It all depends on what you want to see, with a group you’ll probably have less research to do
Please make videos like this for Florence and Rome!!!
Thank you we will
Where did you find a local guide in Venice. ? Be the first time this year in Venice. Great tips. Thank you
Thank you. Here you can find the link with several types of guided tours by local guides: readysetitaly.com/venice_guide
Your video is very helpful and congrats! We are going to Venice tomorrow. Which local restaurants do you go? Do you have any links? Thanks
We had an excellent meal here alcovino.it
@@TravelAddictsLife It looks so delicious. Will try tomorrow, thanks a million😍🥰
@irelandryan6337 please keep us posted
Hello.
I REALLY liked Osteria VinoVino when I was in Venice for New Year's.
Consider giving it a try.
Love watching your videos on Venice. 13 ladies will be visiting Venice for only one day (unfortunately). Is there a tourist guide you can recommend?
Thank you so much. We took a tour with Luisella she was really good here is her website seevenice.it
Thanks for a great video guys. Me and my husband are visiting Venice in July (for my birthday) and it's a Saturday (I know it's going to be crazy busy) we want to do a private gondola. Would you recommend we pre book this or are we ok to turn up on the day? If we should pre book, do you have a recommendation on which website or company we should use?
Thank you for your comment. Being July and Saturday we strongly recommend you to prebook your gondola ride, otherwise you could wait in line for a very long time. We used this site to book: readysetitaly.com/venice-gondola and we had very good experiences. Let us know how your trip goes,
@@TravelAddictsLife Thankyou I've booked our gondala. Appreciate the advice 🙂
What is your opinion of taking one of those day to work things that would take you to see the attractions
Sorry we are not really sure what does that mean
Any recommendations on finding a local guide? Or how to get one?
Here is a good link for you: readysetitaly.com/venice_guide
Hey guys, you mention booking hotels but is it worth booking an Airbnb? Is the hotel cheaper ? Or either one is fine , thank you 😊
Either or is fine, we usually prefer hotels because we like them more
@@TravelAddictsLife thank you, you guys are awesome!!
Can you give a recommendation of a local guide for Venice?
This is the link of a guide: readysetitaly.com/venice_guide
Grazie! Regarding the "skip the line" vendors--there are so many, it's hard to tell if they are legitimate. Any tips on booking with legit STL vendors?
Hello there, we use Get Your Guide and we always had a very good experience. We have left a few links in the description that we used and we liked them
How much is it to go on the condola pls
Depends on the type of ride and if you want to share a gondola or do private, but it starts at €80 for half hour
Can you please tell me which five star hotel you stayed in
Yes it was the Palazzo Keller
@@TravelAddictsLife Thank you
