I just started watching your channel no more then a week ago with no experience with this game.
Your ability to narrate what’s happening while also emphasizing the importance of certain actions has made me able to not only enjoy but understand what’s happening.

One of the aspects that hooked me about this game is the strategic zoom and that units turn into little symbols. Not initially, mind you, at first that was annoying. But after a while you begin to see these little symbols and know EXACTLY what is going on! It is somehow magic that you look at a small (zoomed out) map with lots of little symbols that look like an arcade game from 30+ years ago and all about "Wow, this is exciting"
@@Puschit1 That is a very apt summary of the games uniqueness in my opinion.
The second part of the magic happens after you played the game a fair bit yourself and developed a good map awareness. Then you're yelling at your screen "THE NUKE GYLE THE NUKE!!! FOLLOW THE NUKE!!! FUCK THE ZHUEE floaty naughty naughty at the other end of the map!"
@@Bruellhusten123 Yeah, he got a lot less attentive over time. Many years ago it was smaller things like spotting a tac missile about to snipe a mex. Now he sometimes misses the biggest air or naval engagements while following a hero engy doing his business :) But that's all part of the fun :)

Change my mind: Gyle Cast is a good alternative for a movie.
Especially these days...
I often think that after the fact. "Wow, I watched another 2 hours of Gyle? I could have watched a movie!... Nah, this was better."
The ending is also much more unpredictable than typical superhero movie rubbish these days

A worthy 100th epic, rare to see both teams so close to destruction even with a map full of stuff.
You know, I've watched a lot more casts in recent weeks and this game features probably the highest rated players and you can really see the difference. The way they pump out units and build bases is on a totally different level.

I can’t recall the last time I saw JaggedAppliance get a W in a Gyle cast, let alone an Epic! Good on him. That was some careful maneuvering at the end on his part.

Great game! The real win condition was the teamwork! If Asmodeus did not win ASF and go torpedo, Foley would not get his crazy expand in and their team would lose. They specifically needed the bottom pond push for this to happen, needless of how well Jagged finished it.
Wow I sit down to eat dinner and there is the freshest of fresh gyle casts with 0 views waiting for me. Hell yes!

In regards to the Triarii, in ancient rome, these were the veterans of the army, and they would stand near the rear of the army, the vilites were essentially peasants with javelins, they would run in throw their Javelins, then run back to the Line. The majority of the line is made up of Principes', who were Roman High class who were rich enough to afford a full set of armor, but not rich enough to afford a horse. An interesting fact is the Triarii is they were considered the "last line of defense", they even had a phrase for, they called it: "it has come to the triarii" meaning... it's so bad, they had to rely on their veterans to finish the job.
For those wondering at the 1:10 when he discusses the Terarii, he's correct it's a reference to Rome Total War. If I recall, it's actually the equivalent of Spearmen for the Roman faction, and they were pretty badass units (in singleplayer at least).
It's Triarii. So different name. Terarii doesn't mean anything in latin as far as I know.

I know I’ve watched this before… the Triarii comment… troubles with Swyzack’s name… all so familiar like a forgotten dream where the ending is a whispy memory lost to time… excited to rewatch this one!
34:35 Gyle just ignoring a Czar sailing in to challenge the washer... It's also really painful watching zeirzack and Asmodeus fall so behind in the econ, especially with Asmodeus trying to build experimentals while losing the air game.
I've been getting back into Supcom and I literally wait for GyleCast

Impressive game ! First time i write a comment (although I watch almost all your videos Gyle), simply want to say thank you for your amazing work.
two notes from the early game:
The scouts from EspiranTo were to break up the tree groups and reduce the amount of reclaim and how efficiently it can be scooped up. "breaking the trees" is kind of meme in these high level games.
Second - there is AI balance, it is a custom lobby but these guys always play with opti balance, so their team make up and starting positions are randomised but optimally balanced by global rating.
I'm old enough to still have the physical copies of SupCom and FA - Setons Clutch was always my favorite map.
One of the best creators making some of the best content.

Foley and Jagged well played. Zwek played well by backing up Jagged with T3 subs then anti air.. Foley Probably should have gone T3 Air plus torpedo bombers after taking bottom pond and also spamming Destroyers... would have been a tough game for Jagged to win after being given Everything..... exhausting win.. lol an empiric win..

Been watching your channel for a couple of years, and while I've always been a bigger fan of SupCom 2 rather than FA (my head simply cannot handle the action and stress that comes with having to do Tier Upgrades in FA), it has never stopped me from appreciating the time, effort, and strategy that goes into these games and these videos :D

Although he was being a little bitch, Protect was 100% correct about Terarii screwing him over by letting the torps go. Should've saved the comments for after though.
When the Oss went online after the top team lost the coast I figured it was over. I can't believe the Mavor cracked the shields that fast after a number of games where it gets stalled by shield micro.
We made it to 100 baby! and of course, it's a setons, as it should be.
PS. might wanna update your EPIC playlist, which ended on EPIC 28, 8 years ago 😛

You were thinking Triarii, not terarii, and theyre the early period spearmen, the veterans.
Terarii is a terrarium, for putting reptiles and lizards in.

Hastati and Principes had the pilum they'd throw. The Triarii were like a heavy spearmen veteran unit.

friday + gyle epic cast - can there be something better?
There is no roman military unit called "terarius". There’s the "triarii", which is something like the elite among early roman military. They are called thus because they stand in third line after "principes" (first in line) and the "hastati" (named after the hasta). "terarii" does not even make sense as a latin word. If we were to spell it "terrarii" if could be some sort of skirmishing unit throwing dirt at the opponent.
