Wow, Erin really doesnt let anything sway her analysis of the whiskeys! Hey Josh, i think Erin is a Whiskey Sommelier! Cheers! really enjoy your content!
Huge fan of the 4R! Every single store I visit has it on the shelf too which makes it a huge winner for me. 107 I only see at museums asking museum prices. Cheers and great review!
Hard to get Four Roses SiB in BC, Canada, but had a relative bring it up from California. HOT DAMN! If I could get it locally, I would always have a bottle of that sitting on my shelf. Nothing that utterly blows me away but everything it does, it does right. Absolutely delicious!
I will have to try this blind someday. I love both bottles. That said, Weller 107 is definitely over-rated (and I'm very grateful to have found mine at msrp) and Four Roses SiB and Four Roses small batch select (imo) are severely under-rated bottles. Cheers!
What I like about Four Roses is my ability to test some variables. Even though the standard off the shelf single barrel is always the same proof, yeast and mashbill, you get to know the side of the warehouse and the tier. I've tried enough of single barrels to know that I prefer tier 1 barrels. Because of this, I usually only drink bottles from tier 1 and I feel like I get a just ok bottle much less often than I do with something like Kentucky Spirit or Henry McKenna. With the other distilleries there are so many floors in the warehouses, it would take a lifetime to taste enough to know if you preferred a specific location. I'm not 100% certain that tier one would be my favorite the majority of the time, I don't know how many bottles I'd have to try to make a real conclusion. I do also try to figure out which mashbill is my favorite. So far OESO and OESV are the front runners, but I know I'll never get to taste enough to make a real conclusion. It's fun to try though.
I've not had any of the Wellers. I did get a 4🌹Single Barrel recently and the first pour was a little off-putting to me. I'm hoping it changes with a little time.
I like Four Roses. The yellow label is good and the small batch is even better. I'm currently in my very first bottle of Four Roses single barrel, and I honestly prefer the small batch. Of course a different bottle, from a different barrel, might be better. 🙂
This is true. Batch vs single barrel can always be a gamble. Most of the Four Roses single barrels we’ve tried have all been pretty cherry forward but some can get minty or herbal.
Damn Josh you are a hard driver. This whiskey game isn't this serious. Erin has her own experience and that's what makes your guys's TH-cam channel fun. You are best when you are relaxed. Let Erin do Erin and you do you so you two have fun
Recently, at a bar, I tasted Four Roses single barrel vs. Blanton's. Four Roses easily won that match-up. The same bar has Antique 107, but it is a barrel pick, so it might be a bit different from the standard version. Maybe the next time I visit that bar, I should try Four Roses single barrel vs. Weller Antique 107 and see what happens. It is nice that Four Roses performs so well against hyped-up, hard-to-find bourbons, since it is inexpensive and very easy to find. Four Roses small batch select is good too.
I generally like 4R, and I REALLY like that it is readily available just about everywhere for very reasonable prices. I just wish I could find OWA107 in my area AT ALL to compare! It's not like I live the boonies where nothing shows up, but the taters always beat me to what seems to be the 5 bottles of OWA that land here twice a year. Is it too much to ask for just one...? Nice work Erin picking up the wheated mashbill funk - LEVEL UP!
The 100 proofer here has been $40 for ages in our market (Nashville, TN). Conversely the Small Batch Select seems to be a lot more here than elsewhere (almost $75).
You guys have got to stop doing blinds. Every week I am off to try something new. First it was scotch then rum now 4R SiB. I am only kidding of course. I really appreciate the suggestions.
Love when Erin gets something right 😂😂😂😂 Josh kept on talking but she was enjoying her moment 😂
Matt Madness for Erin next year!! Cheers
Good job Erin! totally worth breaking both shoulder blades as you pat yourself on the back! 🤣
Good job Erin! I have actually blinded both of these and that's why I keep 4 Roses SB on my shelf!
Good blind. I typically get red berry notes from my 107 and tea notes from my Four Roses SB. I prefer the 107.

Great job Erin! Totally great video today!

Four Roses Single Barrel is awesome! Iiiii love it! Thanks for the video.
Great job Erin!
Love to see some Makers selects in blinds against Weller. Interesting as usual.

Here’s to hoping!
Yep I’d take the Four Roses also.

The only caveat I would add. Some of the 4R SBs are extraordinary, some are good. None are bad. You know what you're getting with Weller.

Four Roses Single Barrel 🥃🌹is amazing never had a bad bottle it's great neat or on the rocks

I prefer Antique but buy Four Roses because I can actually find it.
Just bought 107 for $54 after tax. I haven’t bought the 4 roses single barrel, but the 4 roses small batch select was $68 after tax.

Four roses single barrel is my go to favorite. Blanton is a little better but very hard to find.
Both are good, but I prefer the Weller. If it was against the 4R small batch select it would be a much closer call for me.
Some bottles you just can't stop drinking. The 107 was NOT one of those bottles, it took me over three years to finish it. 😞👎
Has 4F SB ever been $40?

WHISKEY CHEERS 😎
I would take that 4 Roses any day over that Weller
Antique 107 is $53.46 (including tax) where I live. I've got 5.
This blind goes to show you that you can get an excellent Bourbon off the shelf for a fair price.
Amen to that!

Yay rye-ers 👍
Boo wheat-ers 👎
I would never buy Weller on principle
