    "The Spectacular Now" is an underrated teen movie, I regularly watch it, and the performances are fantastic. "Room" is also a great watch, though it's very heartbreaking as well. 💔😢

    Aftersun is my favourite A24 film. It’s so honest, and so beautiful, and yet doesn’t draw attention to itself at all. The soundtrack is gorgeous, Paul had my favourite performance, and just like C’mon C’mon I could relate to both the the child and adult. I also think Paul’s performance, and his performances in general are the best representation of male mental health I’ve ever seen, or at least for me, resonate to. After Yang is beautiful, and meditative, and also has a beautiful soundtrack. But I prefer Columbus. That’s just in my opinion top 5 of all time.
    I honestly kind of love Under The Silver Lake, it reminds me of a film that would have come out in like 2004. The mystery is compelling, it’s absolutely bonkers, I like it’s social commentary, and idk I don’t know if I’ve seen an adventure film since that understands the genre so well.
    And finally White Noise is fun. I love how it’s like 7 different genres in one. Starts of with toxic spill, turns into a road trip film, then ends of a revenge story??? I commend it just for that inherently. But it’s not a great film? It’s like a 3.5/5 just by that virtue alone but I could see how it’s closer to a 3/5, it’s not the greatest film. Haven’t seen marriage story but it doesn’t seem like it would have as much of an impact on an audience.

    • @cinemoni
      @cinemoni  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Agree 100% about Aftersun. It’s up there for me in terms of favorite a24 film. And i still don’t know if i prefer Colombus or After Yang better but i do love them both in different ways.

    You have to include “Mid 90’s” in the next one. Jonah Hill did an excellent job as a first time director. Not to mention the score from Trent Reznor (from Nine Inch Nails) and Atticus Ross was excellent. You gotta listen to the song “The Start of Things” from the movie, it is incredible.

    Side note I loved Under the silver lake. I did not like it for the ame reason you did, the male gaze perception was a bit much. HOWEVER, the mystery rabbit hole and hidden puzzles pieces made me really enjoy it.its Elite on my list. A24 is just captivating. What are your thoughts on Bloonhouse films?

  • @AdamFishkin
    @AdamFishkin ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Your part 2 consists entirely of films I haven't yet had a chance to see. So that was fun.
    The problem I saw during the advertising leadup to "Under the Silver Lake" (and of A24's flaws, marketing isn't one of them so I don't blame the trailers at all) is that David Robert Mitchell was getting overly complicated with his premise. This gets extra sad when you consider his previous film, "It Follows", has such a simple premise that works so well and you're hooked on a cerebral level before you even see it. Writers/directors that get super-acclaimed overnight tend to make similar mistakes in how they handle a follow-up: it's not your name that carries a film to success, it's the craft you put into it ... and sometimes less is more.

    I liked Under the Silver Lake just because of how much STUFF is in that movie. I feel like I could talk about it for hours and still see new things-definitely a breath of fresh air when a lot of big movies seem very empty in their scenery/setting. Some of the stuff is pretty icky-which I know is kind of the point-but I definitely understand that reaction. Set design goes crazy though

    Unfortunately liking something better definitely doesn't make it better & ull learn that when get older !!!!! Ur going to go thru that in every single aspect of life wether its movies or relationships or foods!!!! Ur brain isn't fully grown yet so make this same list a decade from now when ur old enough to make actual lists without being completely biased & calling ur favorite movies all masterpieces because when ur young its usually all a huge illusion unless ur have a low IQ level because then u will always be clueless but as u get older u learn & u understand wtf ur talking about alot more & realize u don't have to love something to realize its still way better than something u prefer!!!!
    Greatest words of wisdom one could honestly give u❤
    Ppl you're age should be doing lists on young ppl stuff not on grown ppl stuff!!!!
    Ur way too young to be making adult lists like A24 , u haven't even lived life yet so stick to your "Cruella" show & cartoons!!!
    I know i sound kinda harsh but im just telling u the absolute truth because nobody wants to watch a 18-25yr old talk about these types of topics hence why i even clicked on this video ❤

      @@cinemoni Sure, but all the movies you picked as S tier are not full of A24 typical weirdness, or in other words are pretty tame, not to say they are everybodies darling and easy to like, they could be from any other studio. (Have not seen your other video yet).

    • @cinemoni
      @cinemoni  ปีที่แล้ว

      it’s an A24 movie if it’s released by A24. I think you fail to realize how many “normal” movies they release as well along with “weird” ones. It’s just a weird statement to say i’m not born to watch movies from A24 when in fact all of them are A24 😅 lol
