This wouldnt happen if stores just didn't list for preorder to cause the hype to begin with and wait for their allocations/prices to be shipped... but here we are in 2024 with the same things still happening.
Not the same situation, as I said in the video. We’re talking 3-5 days till product is shipped to the end customer vs multiple MONTHS like traditional preorder
@@DrApplesauceTwo It is the same situation; listing items before they are in hand is the root of the problem, its just 3-5 days, so just wait and dont tick off your customers. this has been happening for years, just insanity at this point
I was in contact with Japanese stores throughout the last 2 weeks. I had placed an order at $58 a box with approximately $25 shipping per six boxes and had my order canceled through multiple shops. They all explained to me that distributor raised the price on them last second they weren't sure if someone came in and bought all of the supply or if they were being jerked around but they were upfront and honest about it. They did however tell me to wait about a week or two and the price would go back down again and here it is again I did unfortunately have to order it at 64 a box but that's still not bad I'm curious about the actual reprint in may, even the stores were worried about it in Japan saying that the same manipulation is probably going to happen that happened the first round when the first released but we'll see. So far I have procured 12 boxes at $64 a box which I feel pretty good about. I watched the price go from 58 a box to $100 a box in less than 3 days back now down to about 70 to 75 through certain stores it's like watching the stock market it's crazy
Can anyone explain why there are sellers that sell sealed plastic wrapped boxes and some sellers have them unwrapped in the 1000's. Are they opening them or what's the deal.
Unwrapped boxes come from retail PC stores. When you buy from them they have to unwrap the boxes to prevent you from re-selling them. Someone re-selling these boxes originally bought them from a retail store.
I ordered 10 boxes off snkrdunk for $65 that was canceled. Just ordered 10 boxes off snkrdunk for $85 and MIRACULOUSLY my order wasn't canceled. Couldn't have had anything to do with the price increase, right?
Here's why I'm annoyed. I ordered all of 5 boxes, they charged me, and never shipped, never cancelled. My order is still pending. 0 communication. If I get them, great! But if I get strung along or ghosted and then cancelled (or not) - it is even worse.
On SNKR Dunk after fees these boxes go for $110. On eBay they are selling around $125-135. Seems like this will always be a sought after product and prices are just going to start rising again. Hopefully those who want to open product have got to during this crazy roller coaster ride that Japanese 151 booster boxes have become.
Nope, I paid 180 for my boxes. Bought in a couple of months before the reprint was announced. Smh. Greedy as people, I'm done with the Japanese b.s. I'll stick to English, Korean and Chinese.
I do not get it - how can distribution just cancels orders without getting sued for damanges ? If a shop orders 5000 boxes and sells them and 1-2 days later their distributor goes "Oops we cannot deliver because we do not have the product"....but 1 day after that the product is available back at the distributor how does this look? An order is a contractual obligation and on top of that with big sellers. Not just 1-2 boxes. If they do that they become unreliable and open themselves for lawsuit, no ?
distributors and stores have a reason to raise prices and i understand since there are much more costs to running a business but scalpers who hoarde them in their basement and sell them online are the problem.
My thing is that most those TCG 'buisnesses" are supposed to not have profit but just sit and lose money will the owners really do get rich and famous belive or not. "PRODUCT STORAGE" equates for a 3000sqft massive house and a shop and new tesla every year is "MARKETING"
I was able to get two orders on SNKRDUNK , 10 boxes at 84 dollars each with fees and shipping and 10 boxes at 64 dollars with fees and shipping. I received both orders last week.
1. Western LGS buy it from scalpers and not from wholesalers. Wholesalers don’t sell outside of Japan. 2. 65USD is pretty much double MSRP 3. what is happening is simply market manipulation by Japanese scalpers. They created a cartel regarding multiple card games and literally serving us s*it which we keep eating.
I personally did not preorder any japaneese 151. I feel if you preorder anything that should be the price. These stores dont mind making 40$ or 50$ a box at 200$ so if they loss a little they can rite it off on their taxes. If i did preorder any and they cancelled i would never ever buy anything from that store again. But thats just me i am old school. I am sure the money they made when prices were high would still cover the $10 loss on a preorder.
I appreciate your insights. Small businesses should protect themselves by selling what they have in hand. Selling pre-orders is risky and that's on them.
I feel like every time a box is hot people bash it. Oh Modern pokemon cards will never be worth anything. Japanese 151 at $80 was an okay price and the orders were filled. We all know this is gonna be back at $100 very soon. I don't know if the loudest people are the ones just trying to get cards for themselves or purposely putting out false information because they are building a position.
It was some bull crap is what it was the stores should honor the price or take a loss period! I wouldn't order from a store again if they canceled my order like that then relisted for more
I would much rather link it to the negative spike of the Japanese yen during those days, it dropped over 3%. That’s 3% less margin from when they gave the price to distributors, and the way the economy has been going in Japan, they probably feared more decline to come, so they had to protect themselves from loosing money on the one product that’s supposed to pay the rent next month. Things are tough all around
That just sucks for LGS stores honestly. I’m sure it’s not fair to the customer but the LGS either chooses to lose money or lose customers. Pokene lost money due to this.
I think putting all the blame on one level of distribution isn't fair though. The whole point of being the customer and not the store is so you don't have to take on the risk and you pay a higher price for things. When I pay for something and they take my money a deal has been struck. I think greed on the highest distributor's side is bad but it's also irresponsible store owners who are selling items they don't even have in stock. If store owners want to buy and sell with the customers money they need to have a limit to what they are willing to take a bath on. If they get greedy this is what happens. If a store takes my money and cancels my order cause the price jumped that says to me, they don't care about their customer. If they cancel the order cause they just made a mistake and ran out of product then it just sucks and an apology and refund is usually enough.
Sorry, but any stores that do preorder should have to honor it cause if price drops on gate they dont repay u the fair price so im sorry but. Now if they dont restock it and say we cant complete orders well i get it but dont relist it in a week for higher price
a bit late to the comments, however i do not have any sympathy to those who did not honor those orders. You are a store, you are a business, this is what happens when you make bad investment and choices. Those people who honored the orders and shipped it deserves to be voiced and advertised. The stores that wanted to save money and cancelled the orders dont care about customers and in the end its just money to them.
I bought 5 boxes for 75 a piece with free shipping via Ebay. Did saw Snkrdunk going as low as 65 dollar. But with purchase fee / shipping fee / sales tax it would cost me 90 / 95 a box. All in all I'm happy with my purchase. Don't care they will arrive in 4 - 8 weeks from now.

when yopu buy at pokemon center in person, and a few other stores, they remove the wrap to discourage scalping

Great video; just subbed! Keep up the good work! From one content creator to another 🤙🏾💯
Thank you! Will do!
I genuinely hope the end up re printing English 151 could you possible make a video on this if any news comes out on it
If any news comes I will, but im sure it will be slowly reprinted like shining fates, celebrations etc has from time to time
Much appreciated

Contact your and have them do a claim. sometimes they will cover that
Is there a English reprint coming ? I’m about to buy 2 ultra premium 151 or should I wait
Why would you wait on buying something that’s readily available for lower than MSRP already?
@@DrApplesauceTwo because I have no idea what I’m doing and seeking advice lol
Anything available for UNDER MSRP is never a bad buy if you like/want the product. Hard to lose much money that way. Hope that helps!

I agree bro there's been alot of tax manipulation from these tcg flippers and sellers. In Japan a box cost 35000 witch equals 35$usd
