Views of the Queen Mary 2, as seen from the Queen Elizabeth 2 on her final transatlantic crossing Music is by Samuel Barber (1910-1981) Adagio For Strings (1936)
It seems fitting that the QE-2 crossed the Atlantic like her sisters before her did so many times in both peace and in war cutting their heels on the grey, stormy waters.
@THEABRAMSMBT No. The Queen Mary 2 is sailing the seas still. She participates in the world cruises offered by Cunard. More than 3 months, sailing around the world and visiting many ports in many different countries. You'd have to cough up over $20,000 for a single bunk.
Why Dose the deck of both ships seem so dead? At least compare to what we see around here in florida. Oh nice choice of music. Was it the 4 seasons? Do these 2 ships alwayse sail together? Why do the newer ships have less protection even tho they have to deal with huricanes? I would think the cruisers would have to be tougher.
@32CyrusthevirusAggie It's because she's an Ocean Liner not a cruise ship. Therefore she doesn't offer the amenities of a cruise ship, but rather offers Premium service with opulent rooms.
@beaum1cah these are the two last great ocean liners and this is their last crossing in the atlantic for they are retired, and there are now no more liners but cruisers DAMN CRUISERS
Hats off to the all the men that brought these magnificent ships to being. Ocean Liners are not cruise ships, they are much more stronger and designed for high speed through heavy seas. When crossing the north Atlantic during winter looking out the window at an angry sea trying to kill you...thank the engineers and craftsmen so you can lay your head down and sleep in peace...
This footage appears to show the QM 2 has much better sea keeping qualities than the QE2. I was surprised to see just how much pitching the QE2 does in even a moderate sea. Filmed from the QM2 on their final crossing QE2 is up and down quite markedly and it would appear her stabilisers are utterly useless !!
I know, I've been on QE2 before, and I can assure you that she handles rougher seas quite easily. She's lighter than QM2, so her center of gravity is a little higher, which affects her. You should look up footage of the original Queen Mary crossing in tough seas, she would move like CRAZY!!! QM2 is heavier so she sits a bit further down in the water and isn't quite as prone to the effects. It's just QE2's design, she was made to 'surf' like that. She and QM2 (and the 2 new queens, only because they have strengthened bows for the Atlantic/stormy Pacific) are the ONLY ships I would trust in a storm, period. ;-)
QE2 Was Retired due to the New Queen Elizabeth being built, QM2 is still active as well as the Queen Victoria, both still make the Transatlanic Route. www.cunard.com/cruise-ships/cunard-experience/ The QM2 was there documenting the QE2's last voyage
@beaum1cah no cruisers if a cruse ship went through the northern atlantic it would flip break and sink, but they retired her because yes she may be somewhat new they made her back in the 80's and the model was obsolete compared to the cruisers
@stophatinlol135 owwkkay that still dnt make sence if a cruise ship cant go through the north atlantic then y did they retire the ships that can? and r these the only ocean liners in the world? i thot queen victoria was an ocean liner
@beaum1cah i dont think ur geting it CRUISER and CRUISE SHIPS ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!! a cruise ship would never make it through the northern atlantic, the flat bottom would catch the waves and flip break and sink! a Cruiser has a pointed bottom to break the waves so it wont flip. but Cruise Ships are better than Ocean Liners in some aspects. but a CRUISER is better than an Ocean Liner in nearly every aspect
AND WHY ARENT the life boats like the ones in the qe2 it make no sense didnt they have enclosed life boats then even know they should have upgraded them
@beaum1cah yes the Queen Victoria is a ocean liner but she is not one of the greats she is smaller than QM2 and QE2, these are the greats. and not Cruise Ships, CRUISERS, there is a difference the Cruise Ship has a Flat Bottom and a Cruiser has a Pointed Bottom.
I was on Queen Mary 2 on that voyage. What an apt piece of music to accompany the footage. Thanks for posting.
Hey! I can see you filming me! We were on the QM2 and what a sight it was to wake up in the morning and find the QE2 outside of your cabin! Fabulous!
I wanna see Queen Mary 2 once in my life... love from India 🇮🇳
I saw QE2 in Dubai! Im glad to have saw her!

QE2 was 70.000 gross tons and 270 (give and take) mt /QM2 is 153.000 gross tons and 320 or 330 mt
@@benjaminshamel9383 i think QM2 has a little over 11 mt draft ( france was also 11/ 11.50 mt draft)
