- Exclusive footage from the tug Cornell & the Mary A Whalen as we greeted Queen Mary 2 in a grand flotilla of historic ships as she sailed triumphantly into New York completing her Cunard 175 anniversary voyage.

We were on that magnificent voyage from Southampton to Liverpool to Halifax to Boston and on to New York City.🙂

We have done 5 crossings on QE2, 7 crossings on QM2 and 1 on the ms Rotterdam (6). Nothing like a transatlantic crossing. We also have taken 25 cruises mostly on Cunard and Holland America.
The Cunard event at the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool was the most spectacular singular tribute we have ever seen. Halifax, Boston, both had special tributes as well as our arrival in NYC. Age and health have now limited our ability to travel. Cunard Forever!

I had no idea John Maxtone-Graham died last year. Cunard didn't announce it in their Cunarder magazine or anything. I'd have expected more from them.

The music that starts at 25:05 is from the movie Godzilla vs Biollante. I think it fits this video perfectly.
Ocean liners and giant ships share the same similarities with Kaiju, and the world of giant monsters as they are the largest structures floating constructed by man and they are leviathans of the seas.
This music made for these movies was to make the subject triumphant and majestic and grand, Queen Mary 2 is a ship that embodies all these qualities therefore it is only proper she gets the best music to represent her grand appearance.

this is magnificent.......and what music is this. PLEASE someone tell me..........I miss NY and wish I lived there.. I would love to know, how many times or how often does this tub go out to meet the Queen Mary II and bring them in? Is there a park to sit and watch this? Can anyone ride this tug to meet them ? I take it that spraying is like a welcome! this music and video are beyond...I have such envy for them.

Loved the choice of Music also I do believe that that one piece of the score from Raise the Titanic titled Russian threat entering New York Harbor would have also been fitting for this as well
I was on 175 anniversary voyage. A very memorable experience sailing from Liverpool.
Thanks for a great video, I use to live in Halifax and would try to be at dockside when the QE2 would depart and later the QM2. I notice that Cunard does not fly the White Star flag anymore. When QE2 visited Halifax they would fly the flag at the bow, since it is the Cunard-White Star Line.
It is owned by Carnival Crap and it is a no big deal ship and very dull.It is a ship for senior citizens ,that have no sense of adventure.
@@Jay-vr9ir The Queen Mary 2 is a fine vessel. Especially by today's passenger ship standards, no, she doesn't stand up to the liners of old, but still, she's fantastic.
On 15th of April all Cunard ships still hoist the White Star Line flag.

+Denise Davies I am neither a stuffed shirt nor a high brow. Just a ordinary American that flew to England and did the crossing. It was fun at the bars and in the casino.
The ship is very basic and it drove me up the wall, couldn't wait to get off of it.
