Play CAGED forms of the C chord, so 5 places and 5 forms of a chord on the neck. Next play a chromatic scale within each of those 5 forms. Any scale can be played within those forms (right? If the chromatic scale can be played within them, then ANY scale can be played within them).
@m.vonhollen6673 That’s a great way to think about it, however I didn’t really start playing CAGED till recently. I figured out a few CAGED shapes before I understood the system, and mixed it with Bar Chords and Thumb chords
@@studioafkai I love how you do your lesson. I'm 10months into my guitar journey. On one of your lessons you speak of learning songs is very important. This is the hill I'm starting to climb in my playing. I like that backing tracks because I can follow along with them without actually knowing a song. I have to get past the feeling of hitting a wall in learning an actual song. You give me hope that I can do it. Thanks
@@mabblers Most of my first 2 years, I felt like a good guitar player, but I realized the gap when anyone would ask me to play something, because all I ever did was practice to backing tracks. Songs were what I missed out on, and when I finally started learning them, blocks got removed, and I was more creative. I felt inspired. Songs pulled all the knowledge together wiithout anyone having to tell me why. Can't wait for you to come into your own, and really feel the magic.
@@studioafkai Thanks for the encouragement. Yeah, I've gotten the Pentatonic, Major, and Mode scales down, I also have a few lick runs, and the open chords. I'm working on the triads and closed chords now. There's a lot to remember and get down. My first song I'm working on is, "Joy to the world" Getting there. It's a process, but loving it.
Cool! That's it- looks like you're having fun. As it gets more intense- a serious kind of fun.
super duper intuitive for me to learn!!!!
@@dillthoughs Glad it helped, I tried to teach it as close to the way I understand it as possible!
@@studioafkai hurry up and make more of these I'm fiening for music theory on my guitar
@@dillthoughs damn, I thought guitarists didn't like too much music theory haha, guess now I know
