As an ECE student I suggest first one and half year we should enhance our coding skills ( c , c+/Java/ python , data structures and algorithm ) enough for placement and rest of year we should focus on our core electronics subjects and give a try for gate ..

Ok so I got ECE in a NIT, I wanted CSE. Though I was good at coding, I utilised my first year time to develop coding skills, now I have 3 stars on codechef, soon I'll be entering 2nd year, I wish to pay attention in classes and learn everything there, and continue my coding as usual.

I'm from a tier 3 college. I wish I had watched a video like this before joining ECE. Our college teachers (except a few) have little to no knowledge in core ECE, so how can anyone expect them to give you any guidance. Don't fall into the trap that many colleges lure you in. If you can't get into a tier 1 or 2 college, don't even think of choosing ECE. Guidance and labs are the most important thing to look for in a branch like ECE, that a tier 3 college can never give.

I went to direct second year admision . I wanted Electrical Engineering But I didn't get but i was getting this least prefered branch electionics and telecommunication i rejected it as there is no scope in Goa for it nobody takes it and seats are vacant.

plzz dont knock me off, i know i sound lame. but i have deep interest in micro controllers, i remember myself doing projects with ardiunos in grade 8th,9th,10th and making various things like a smart dustbin(which will open it's lid automatically), a smart sanitizer, motion detector sirens. i know they are kid projects. but if ece is something like that, i love ece

@Abhishek Singh See it all depends on you how you will use your time in productivity.
See obviously as VIT has such a large student intake there will all kinds of students there.
Now it comes up to how you choose your peers.
VIT as a college is not bad but in these 4 years you have to put efforts to be in the top 10% is your branch.
See i would say that if you get top 15 NITs, top 7 IIITs or higher (IITs) in ECE or EE , opt for that
Otherwise VIT will also be a good option but you have put in consistent efforts.
See when I say this thing "consistent efforts" this doesn't mean that the people in those NITs or higher colleges don't have to put in efforts. But the point you should gather is that you have to put more efforts as compared to them.

If both in same tier then go for cse
CSE ECE or EE or any other engineering discipline. Doesn't matter for applying abroad. All are having equal opportunity.
Loda, for MS in CS fields cs students are preferred over ece. With cs you have advantage over ece students
