Wow. Walmart did a faulty tire installation on my challenger last month here in Tulsa, OK. The front driver side tire came off the rim as I was exiting the highway less than a week later. It caused me to wreck, with my car skidding up over the curb of the exit ramp and into the grass, narrowly avoiding a 50+ foot steep hill that leads down to railroad tracks below. By the grace of God I was able to grip that steering wheel hard enough to get her back onto the exit ramp of the highway, however I very narrowly avoided hitting a large metal road sign as my car returned to the roadway. The manager at the auto center assured me that he would see to it that the tires were all properly mounted. Here I am 2 weeks later without a yet another tire (front passenger side this time) because it came off of the rim as I was driving to work on Monday. Thank God when it happened I was still on the access road about a quarter of a mile from the on ramp to the highway, otherwise I am absolutely positive that this would have caused an even worse accident had it happened as I was driving on the highway at a higher speed in the heavy morning traffic. The manager at the auto center, again, promised to inspect all 4 tires to ensure that they are safely on the rims and mounted properly and additionally stated that he would have all 4 tires replaced at no cost to me if needed. This was just yesterday. I received a text that my car was ready to be picked up, so a co-worker dropped me off there to get it. The manager I have been working with had already left for the day, and the employee at the cash register says, “Let’s see how much you owe us today….” I stopped him right there and explained that I don’t owe a dime per his manager and explained the situation to him. He then responded with agitation telling me that they couldn’t replace the tire because my rim is cracked and broken and damaged beyond repair and that I had to have hit something for this to happen. I replied that I had not in fact hit anything when this occurred, and that if there is any damage to any rims on my vehicle it’s clearly the result of the wreck that was caused by their own negligence during the tire installation. He didn’t like that, and he raised his voice, talking over me, and telling me 4 more times that I “had to have hit something”. I told him to get a manager over and quickly. The manager came over, spoke with the technician that worked on my vehicle, then returned to me and said that he’s not sure why the employee had told me that and that there is nothing wrong with my rim. However, they don’t have my tire size in stock and I was buy another tire then they will install it and reimburse me for the cost of the tire. I’m still battling it out with them as I don’t feel that this is a just or proper solution at all! BEWARE OF WALMART AUTO CENTER!
