Here are some disadvantages or criticisms of Jawaharlal Nehru's tenure as India's Prime Minister, presented concisely:
      1. Economic Policies: Overemphasis on a socialist model led to slow economic growth, inefficiencies, and the "license raj" system, hindering private enterprise.
      2. Kashmir Issue: Mishandling of the Kashmir conflict and referring it to the UN is often criticized for prolonging the dispute.
      3. China Relations: His trust in China led to the 1962 Sino-Indian War, resulting in a humiliating defeat and territorial loss.
      4. Centralized Planning: Focus on heavy industries neglected agriculture, causing food shortages and dependency on imports.
      5. Neglect of Defense: Insufficient attention to military preparedness left India vulnerable to external threats.
      6. Dynastic Politics: Accused of paving the way for dynastic rule by promoting his family within Indian politics.
      7. Linguistic Issues: His language policies, particularly around the imposition of Hindi, created unrest in non-Hindi-speaking regions.

Nehru is undoubtedly the most precious and the most luminous gem to the crown of Indian Democracy. The founder father of modern India he will for ever shine with his amazing stature as the greatest stalwart in our post Indian political history. The media inflated paper tiger is no substitute for a real tiger with a regal resonance and roar. His diplomatic dimension and the gigantic sweep of his amazing intellect will dazzle us for generations undiminished.

Nehru's policies of democracy, pluralism, egalitarianism, unity and secularism reflect our great ancient land's ethos and values. India's nationalism is based on these fundamental principles, and they are enshrined in our constitution. Nehru was scholar extraordinaire. His Autobiography, Discovery of India, Glimpses of World History, etc., are remarkable books. More so, the Autobiography which is written in "superlative prose" without a touch of self-pity or moral superiority. When I'm in a state of boredom or restiveness I read a couple of pages, at random, from one of these books for comfort and cheer. Viva Jawaharlal Nehru, a noble man of the highest ideals.

      How Nehru Became Prime Minister
      1. 1946 Congress Presidency Election:
Before independence, the Congress Party held an internal election for the presidency. The elected leader was expected to lead independent India.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had overwhelming support (12 of 15 Pradesh Congress Committees nominated him).
However, Mahatma Gandhi strongly influenced the final decision. He believed Nehru’s modern worldview and appeal to younger generations made him the ideal leader for post-independence India.
Patel, out of respect for Gandhi, stepped aside, allowing Nehru to lead.

Nehru was, Nehru is, and Nehru will remain for many years to come - the greatest visionary, best architect, most able statesmen, and the greatest Indian post the freedom struggle. People critize him for gifting some parts to China etc., but had it not been for him (& the help JFK gave to stop China), most of India would have been with China by now, and India anyways would never have been the India we see today & instead would have been in taters like Pakistan. For that India owes the very highest honor & respect, to its greatest sons, like it owes to Jamshedji, Tilak, M.K. Gandhi. Gokhale, Bose, Bhagat Singh, Sardar Patel and other freedom fighters. To forget, malign, belittle, ridicule them, would indeed be most unsavory & insane. For this reason, I believe this book has absolutely come at the right time and is worth every Indian & world leaders time. Because who better than Nehru to guide us in these turbulent times, the road ahead, and the discovery of a New & Old India, a India we hope, we dream, a India we all love so dearly. Essential reading 🙏

Timely book and interview. Sick and tired of listening to malicious campaign against Nehru Ji and Mahatma Gandhi Ji. Its been like abusing your own forefathers for being visionaries as our neighbours are parochial and ruined, and a religion in far away lands is turning into a fundamentalist force, hence we dont need to celebrate that our forefathgers encouraged diversity. Its like cutting off your nose to spite the face.
Disclaimer: Admirers are not slaves; we acknowledge the failings of Nehru Ji: China policy, his condescending attitude towards the Americans, etc. It's part of the package - he spent his entire life for India, achieved plenty and failed in some. He remains in our heart as the founder of India's nationhood, nurtured with affection and confidence but without any malice to the past. Imagine if Nehru Ji was not the first PM, India would have focussed on expressing its hatred towards all those who had plundered it in the past - Afghanistan, Iran, Portugal, Britain, Holland, France; anyone left? Instead, he channelised the angst of the majority to focus on rebuilding India - compare this with those who founded pakistan; their one-point agenda was spreading hatred against India. And look where they are now!

AT the time of independence, Nehru was 57 years old. Out of the 57 years, Nehru spent more than 9 years in jail fighting for India's independence. Great sacrifice and deserves better treatment from the current day ruling dispensation.

Priyanka Gandhi is right in Parliament. Would Nehru alone do all for independent India for next 100 years? The onus of defining positioning of Muslims in the scheme of India once Pakistan was formed and definitive land on both sides of India was consumed by Muslims, was on Congress itself. They left the space open till 2014 and BJP filled it up with their own ideas.

Nehru was a great stateman and leader. All leaders should be judged on based on their track records.
Although Nehru has an over whelming positivity on democracy and secularism but never the less he made some blunders specifically Himalyan foreign policy blunder on China.
Another is his economic policy copied from Moscow was a disaster - which gave rise to govt control licence raj.

What BJP alludes about Nehru i don't know but the thing i am sure about him is , he was in a hunger to sit on moving chair of power . He unheard the cries of former Sindh PM Allah bux soomro , who was continually wailing that his province was driven away from Congress's nationalist politics to League's communal lap . Balochs approached him but he denied them !

The Nehru biographer is quite right about his subject who was a visionary as well as a deliverer; in essence, this was the father of post-Independence modern India truly in the line of--going back millinnia--Emperor Ashoka of what can be called proto-secularism and liberalism--and the Mughal ruler, Akbar. Nehru died in 1964 physically, but in fact he was assassinated in 2014, inasmuch as he trampled communal parties to profoundly establish democracy in India. It was his big mistake, the consequence of which he now faced. Be that as it may, the step he had taken at that time to root out the communal groups was more or less a right decision.

Nehru objected to Sanskrit as the national language. He did not understand communalism atall.
He gave away Kashmir He lied about R SS as you are . Muslims are allowed to have four wives , and sharia law .Indian education never taught about Indic mathematics or ontology . It glorified Islam . No mention of the destruction of all universities and temples. Genocide and history. He has no understanding of Non dualism.. everything wrong in following J S Mill
