Monday, January 29th: Nice mods. Food for thought. Happy Trails!
Thanks! You too!
Sorry to hear about your ribs. I fell last November on a training hike near Springer, and busted my forehead open. Not too bad, but I probably should have gotten stitches.
I'd just started using poles, so that may have contributed -- I was climbing, caught a toe, and couldn't break my fall due to pole catching on something. Luckily I had a heavy knit cap, which cushioned it a bit. ;-)
But that's nothing compared to rib injuries. I had several back when I was much younger and played rugby -- well, not so much younger for the last one, which pretty much ended my playing days. ;-)
Glad you're doing better.
Thanks! So easy to get injured out there 🥾🥾
Great info
Glad it was helpful!
I love my Liter Smart, water bottle. I have the CTULG water bottle holder
The water bottle holder comes standard on the Durston pack. It’s built in. I’ve heard good things about CTUG.
@@wandering_withWilson oh sweet
I like the whistle and knife clip. I might give that a try. I usually just put them in my fanny pack. Yes I caved in and bought a Kakwa 40. Don't judge.
No judgment here. And no fanny pack. Lol. I’ve thought about getting one but so far I don’t need it so I’ve held off. I know many people love them.
@@wandering_withWilson I only use it with my Kumo 36 because I don't use the hip belt. I probably won't use it with the Kakwa because it has bigger hip belt pockets. Whatever time frame I have for ding the CT will determine which pack I take.
Totally makes sense to use it with the Kumo! I was looking at that pack for shorter trips - do you recommend it?
I just saw your link on AT women’s page. I’ll be starting my hike on March 22 but I also have a Kakwa 55 and a P style! You are right it is a game changer. Looking forward to keeping up with your journey.
That’s awesome. I’m so glad we could connect. Reach out to me and we can share contact info. I know we’re starting kind of far apart, but you just never know.
Sweet!!! Awesome adds to the pack
Really helps me keep things handy (and reachable)
@@wandering_withWilson awesome!!! 👏
Modifying my packs is one of my more enjoyable gear tasks.
It’s so much fun! I’ve seen some shock cord mods for the Durston as well, and may try those at some point. Right now I have everything that I need but I’m sure all uncover more things on the hike.
Great idea! Where do you find the mitton hooks?
I think I bought them at DutchWareGear but you might be able to get them at HammockGear as well. I know you can get them on Amazon too but I think when I looked, you bought them by a very large quantity and I didn’t need that
Thanks so much!
