Hi Mark. Good to see useful content like this. My system is to have a CR file for each team separate from the generic phrases, so you have three files loaded up for every match ie one for each team and one for the generic phrases. Saves a lot of time because you never need to do much to the files for your regular home sides after the first games of the season and you can recycle the away teams too. Would also endorse the comments made elsewhere about loading the lists from the Football Squads site through an Excel spreadsheet and then just using the first two columns. Much less faffing around once you've got the hang of it. Keep 'em coming.
Thanks Alvy. Yes, Excel definitely seems a favourite for sure. Google Spreadsheet has had a mention too, so will be checking them both out. A lot of time right now to be brushing up on new techniques after all! Thanks Alvy, much appreciated👍🏻
Yeah liking the new intro Mark, another great video, I also use the Football Squads website for team and player information and I've always found them to be up to date. Take care
Hi Jez, yes, football squads is a great help. Always good to double check quickly when the team sheet comes out. Once or twice I’ve spotted differences that they’ve missed. Thanks for getting in touch, keep safe👍🏻
I like the intro - gives a true flavour of what your channel is about. I've only used CR once (Rugby World Cup 2015) and I found it difficult, mainly because I had to teach myself in about six hours before the first game! So I will actually learn this your way, and will definitely try it out in the next game even if it's just to get a new skill under my belt. Thanks for the great info as always.
Hi Pete, thanks, pretty happy with it. Can change it a bit once we get going again! Just sat here thinking how my Chanel SHOULD look at this point in the season! Never mind, we’ll get back on track at some point! Re CR’s, let me know if you need a hand further, happy to help if I can. If/when you do get it sorted, you’ll wonder how you ever got by without it!
Hi Mark! Another excelent piece of content! I usually copy the roster from the "LigaMX" website, paste it in Excel and the copy the names to my TXT file, I find easier to deal with the extra information this way! I've learned so much from you, thanks a lot! Cheers from your Mexican friend, Mariano!
Hi Mariano, great advice on the Excel, I must look into that method! Pleased the channel is helping in some way, that’s great. Thanks for your support Mariano👍🏻
Mark love the intro. A lot of channels have intros that are far too long. That’s just right imho. With regard to the txt file in PM a few have mentioned excel. I paste into excel which then allows you to prefix cells, for example the numbers in first column can be formatted to prefix with ‘a’ in one click. Once I have tidied up using excel I save it as a tab delimited .txt file which PM can read
Thanks John, appreciate that. Excel is defo the way forward! The majority of you guys on here seem to use it for CR's. Time for me to have another go at excel for sure. Thanks John.
Morning Mark, great Video... love the intro. I have set up an excel spreadsheet and copy the lists from various places and then take what i need and put it in a sheet with a few formulas which create the codes etc...then copy and paste into text file. It needs a bit of understanding of excel though. Also a quick tip, when you reloaded the text file after making changes...a quicker way is if you go into EDIT / SETTINGS as you did but the third option is to reload so you don't have to open the CR screen 😜 Look forward to the next video
Hi Tommy, great tip on the re-load, thanks for that👍🏻 Yep, Excel is definitely being mentioned plenty. I once watched a colleague build a CR in excel in a press room. Tried to keep up but just got lost in it all! Time for a revisit into it all I think! Thanks Tommy👍🏻
Ah thanks Tommy. That would be great to see how you work with it and compare it to my rusty old method🤣 As I say, I’m very lucky that for all prem games I am remote, so don’t even get my laptop out! However, I usually edit myself for any championship games, so good to keep my eye in on updated methods👍🏻
Hi, you could create txt file with content from online, open txt file in excel, then put delimiter to space and it'll then sort it out to columns. You could delete unwanted columns and apply formulas to add A before each number and could even use the letter for position in a formula to populate Arsenal Goalkeeper for example. Could then export to txt file. Feel free to get in touch if you want any more info! Btw, you've got some great videos!
Hi Bedwyr, MANY thanks for the info. I once watched a colleague create his CR file in Excel, in a press room before a game. I tried to take it all in but I got a bit lost with it all! I must look into it again! Thanks again and great input.
Hi Mark hope you are well, certainly faster preparing these in excel without a doubt and any multiple words like team name or positions can easily be copied into the field’s also excel will automatically number sequential if needed etc very powerful and quick once you get to grips with it Great topic and video keep them coming cheers
Hi Trevor. Thanks for getting in touch. It seems a long time ago now filming this video! 6 months have passed and it looks like it's going to be another 6 months before I will be behind the lens again at a sports event! I've not yet looked into Excel obviously as no need to but I must check it out!± Thanks for watching Trevor
Hi Mark, great video again, i import my names from Football squads into excel and have set up a formula within excel which then brings all the rows together and then i just copy to a word doc and then save as a text file, then i make my adjustments within the text file. Good Luck for the season ahead.
Quality video as always, Mark. Have you thought about a video on your in-game editing process from ingest to transfer? Always interesting to see others' ways of working!
Thanks James. I did run through my work flow quickly in this racing video th-cam.com/video/Cl8sSHN7o2U/w-d-xo.html I could do with making another soon perhaps. As a rule I send remotely off the back of the camera for football, so rarely use the lap top now. I’ll pencil in a work flow vid👍🏻 Thanks for getting touch James
In some languages it’s the emphasis on how to pronouch the words. Germans have the 2 dots above a letter called umlauts and tilde in Spanish. In Irish it’s called a fada.
I use the site code replacement as it cover a large amount of teams and various sports around the world. More Kerton Kryptonite Krackers hints and tips.
Hi Mark. Great, informative video. Could you tell me where I might be able to download lists of phrases (e.g., "looks to cross the ball into the area") for football and other sports? Cheers! Iain McGuinness
Hi Ian, thanks, pleased you took something from it. I’m not sure there are any lists officially? As a rule we all tend to type them out ourselves. Might be worth asking the question on the fb group perhaps. Are you on the group?
@@MarkKerton Ah, OK. That's what I've done for sports like netball and athletics in the past, but just wondered if there were lists online. Yeah, I'm in the group (lots of great work being shared there, BTW). I'll maybe ask on there, then. Watching your old flying photography video just now. Great stuff! Cheers! Iain McGuinness
Yeh someone on the group may know something I’m not aware of re the CR’s. If you want to drop me an email I’ll send you mine over👍🏻 Great job that was at Cranwell! Pleased I got the archives last week.
Hi Mark, great video! When I set up for football matches code replacements within code replacements so, for example, one of my code replacements is ef\ and this brings up the referee's name; I then have another code replacement \yell\ which is "is shown the yellow card by ef\ " so when I type \yell\ it not only brings in the "is shown the yellow card by" it also includes the referee's name. Another place I use it is \gv\ "a general view of \stad\" where \stad\ is the name of the stadium i'm shooting at - does that make any sense? Happy to go through it in more detail if you want additional info.
Hi Shaun. Thanks for the tips. Not sure if you saw the clip where I added the pre-sets like the examples you provided. There’s about 60 of them that I copy for each match file. I use /yc/ which gives me “receives a yellow card off for a rough challenge on” then add the ref and player👍🏻 Thanks for getting in touch Shaun, brill
Like the intro! Nice job! For CR I have used codereplacements.com as others have but also find Excel (or Numbers) to work well for CR. Excel is much faster (in my opinion) than others. Do you set up your CR the week of the match or do you do all of the teams before the season?
Hi Stephen, Ah, numbers! Didn’t think of that!Excel sure seems to be popular with all of us, so I will look into that for sure! We are quite lucky as we get sent a full Premier League code replacement and also a championship coat replacement at the beginning of the season and after the transfer windows. So I just alter the shortcut and add my presets to the code replacement which is very helpful
Thank you so much Mark😭🙏🏽❤️❤️from South Africa 🇿🇦
