I hope Trent wins the Oscar, would be a great lifetime achievement award, considering how much he gave to Music in the last two decades without that much recognition
I'm not surprised at TR's work in movies. He dabbled in it way back in 94 with Natural Born Killers and did sound design for iD Software's Quake in 96. I mean the guy is a walking renaissance man when it comes to music. One moment he's blasting you with ear splitting anthems like Happiness In Slavery, gentle tunes like the quiet version of The day the world went away and now this. Awesome.
Trent Reznor said (in a 45 min discussion about the score which u can find on youtube)...that the part of the movie that surprised him the most w/ the score being placed...was this scene, how it switches from the bathroom scene to when Mark approaches his ex in the resaurant. I felt the same in the theater, starting at 2:19 is when Mark roams over to Erica (when watching it, the score made him look like a ghost..all alone and desperately needing someone to talk to). DAMN amazing score!!!
Terrific awesome track off this banging soundtrack that keeps getting good, I haven't tired of listening to this great medium, Trent did real good delving into film he deserves it.
In many ways I am getting to see the fulfillment of something I have wanted for a long long time: To see Reznor just compose instrumentally. No songs; no aspirations towards music intended to be played by a rock star at a rock show. Just Reznor as the brilliant modern composer he is. I've now seen Ghosts and this soundtrack come out in a very short clip. I hope that at least the critical success of this movie (getting great reviews) means we will see more and more of this from Trent.
It's "In Motion" that's being played during the numerous parties occurring and Mark's creation of the "Face match" website. Great scene and amazing song from an amazing film (one of the top five best of the year).
I agree with you partially. I feel like Zimmer's music fits some movies, while scores like this fit other movies. Zimmer's music fits action-adventure type movies where there is a need for action in order to create intensity. I feel like this song fits this movie because it's not an action movie. It's more of a simple movie (no explosions, CGI, monsters), and the intensity is created more subtly without action. Therefore, this simple, subtle song fits.
@orozco360 that sound much closer to what I remembered from the movie, whether it's the exact same or if the movie used a remix is still hard to tell but that does seem to have more of the right beat. The other song (EWFOW) was the only song on the soundtrack like it might have been a possibility but it just didn't seem to be 100% right. Might have to go see the movie again just to listen to it again and be sure.
@AceOD911 You gotta give credit to Atticus as well..No doubt that Trent is a mastermind when it comes to music, but together these guys are just..I dont think there is a word that can describe just how great, explosive, overpowering their music is.
@bobbygnosis Yeah it is a real good thing. The movie is a success so I am hoping that we see much more of it. I think it would be the perfect move for him and Atticus. Those guys have always created the most beautifully dark soundscapes and personally I think if you're going to make a break from NIN that is an awfully good place to take your career.
@jck1794 Because this felt like a backbone to the story. it made a movie about facebook send shivers down my spine due to the score synced perfectly. Dont get me wrong, Hans Zimmer is incredible, I'm a huge fan of his and always will be...BUT The Social Network NEEDED this score in order to be what it was. Inception could have used The Dark Knight score and been almost as good. Just wasn't needed (but sure did help the movie). There a few scenes in Inception that it was needed..but TSN 100%.
@JesusCristo2002 Actually, I just listened to the full soundtrack. Listen to Magnetic, thats the one being played, its basically just a mixed version of 14 ghost.
Does anyone know what words are being said in 2:52? Because the only words I think I can make out are..."It was no secret, Mark"... But I'm sure it's something else.
does anyone know if this is the song that was playing in the restaurant when Mark was first meeting Sean for the first time? It sounds like it might be but I can't tell for sure.
@countchunkula - It sounds like so many other scores because he makes so many of them, haha. But anyways don't get me wrong this is a good soundtrack, but I don't see how you could say it will be forgotten in years. Hans' work is very well regarded as one of the best modern composers for films. Saying it will be forgotten in years is just ignorance.
Does anybody know what song is played in the club, while mark is talking to sean parker, and they're talking about sean's gf being a victoria's secret model ?
i think if he apologized to her at the end of the movie it would have made it that much better, felt a bit of a neutral ending when he just refreshes her page.
@deadpatronus Because the Zimmer score will be forgotten years from now, because it sounds like every other thriller. While Fincher's is downright creepy, subtle, and has the experimental qualities lacking in film scores today, embarrassing really.

this is so butiiful ,even words can't describe this .
This song is BOMB. The score is brilliant. It's not the same movie without it.
This piece from the score put so much more emotion and motivation into the scene when Mark tried to say Hi to Erica.
It's "In Motion" that's being played during the numerous parties occurring and Mark's creation of the "Face match" website. Great scene and amazing song from an amazing film (one of the top five best of the year).
Amazingly haunting... Reznor & Ross make this film.
Best track of the soundtrack.
Awesome!!! this sounds ringing in my ears like a perfect music when i am in trance

i LOVE it, it reminds me of Ghosts.
@psychicwhoosh When I heard Reznor's music for Quake back in the 90's all I could think was, "He needs to do more of this." Well, here we are.
@digital103 DUH! :-) I was referring to the movie soundtrack scene. I've been following Reznor since '91. Now he can win grammys and oscars!
@tweak548 Funny you should say that. Atticus Ross did the soundtrack for that movie as well as The Social Network, along with Trent Reznor of course.
@gexxy The song your looking for is called "magnetic" 'from then on, it was a shawn-o-thon'
"We have groupies."
I think it's cool how Reznor and Ross won an oscar
if anyone's heard trents ghosts album they'll know he's been doin this style for a while and he's perfected it
Trent has a natural talent for anything musical obviously, but in particular for writing scores. He did Quake for the NINtendo 64. Check it out
@CeejayGSPB He also used "In Motion" when he was downloading the pictures.

@SMCstudio3 It's called The Sound of Violence - Dennis de Laat :)
2:50 "The internet's not written in pencil, Mark. It's written in ink.
@AceOD911 You gotta give credit to Atticus as well..No doubt that Trent is a mastermind when it comes to music, but together these guys are just..I dont think there is a word that can describe just how great, explosive, overpowering their music is.
@zeferion2 dunno but i love it !

The funny thing is that Zimmer actually used some of these tracks(i mean the social network instrumentals) in "Drive"
I could actually see that working. But the music for _Drive_ was actually composed by Cliff Martinez.
thanxx soo much :D @gelyn 64
@CeejayGSPB What about the scene where Mark, Eduardo and Kristi meet Sean parker for the first time? At the dinner meeting.
@thedesperate4eva "In Motion" too.
Move Hanz Zimmer...Get out the way!! Reznor has arrived on the scene!!
im sure i can hear the iPhone jingle for new email in there!
which is the song used when mark chooses the interns.it's starts sumthing like "california..."
@JesusCristo2002 Actually, I just listened to the full soundtrack. Listen to Magnetic, thats the one being played, its basically just a mixed version of 14 ghost.
@tweak548 that is because Atticus Ross did both
Does anyone know what words are being said in 2:52? Because the only words I think I can make out are..."It was no secret, Mark"... But I'm sure it's something else.
@CeejayGSPB Thank you :3
Does anybody hear the voice near the end of the track?
@CeejayGSPB actually, i'm pretty sure it's in motion. but I could be wrong.
@gexxy actually , i doubt this is the one. the resturaunt scene sounded like
'14 Ghost II' by Nine Inch Nails. I'm almost certain
Does anyone know the name of the song that's playing when Mark is running from the bar to his dorm. It's a piano piece.
@orozco360 it was.
does anyone know the name of the hardcore techno in the club scene?
does anyone know if this is the song that was playing in the restaurant when Mark was first meeting Sean for the first time? It sounds like it might be but I can't tell for sure.
Does anyone know the song that was played during the boat race?
which song was the one in the club when he's talking to Sean?
@countchunkula - It sounds like so many other scores because he makes so many of them, haha. But anyways don't get me wrong this is a good soundtrack, but I don't see how you could say it will be forgotten in years. 1:34 best part
Does anybody know what song is played in the club, while mark is talking to sean parker, and they're talking about sean's gf being a victoria's secret model ?
whats the name of the song when he was in the club with sean?
@thedesperate4eva "In motion"
@thedesperate4eva In Motion
@psychofunksoldier02 Don't say that, Hans Zimmer is a fucking legend already, its good to have Trent here but he's still light years behind Zimmer.
@psychofunksoldier02 When zimmer was making soundtracks and masterpieces trent was a just a kiddo.
@thedesperate4eva In motion
The alternate title for this is "Bathroom Sex".
@blablabla3074 "Magnetic"
@thedesperate4eva "A Familiar Taste"
i think if he apologized to her at the end of the movie it would have made it that much better, felt a bit of a neutral ending when he just refreshes her page.
do u think he wud have apologized to erica albright in this scene???
lex luthor theme?
@deadpatronus Because the Zimmer score will be forgotten years from now, because it sounds like every other thriller. While Fincher's is downright creepy, subtle, and has the experimental qualities lacking in film scores today, embarrassing really.
@12lmeganl12 Hand Covers Bruise
@deadpatronus Because it's better.
......"A couple of girls are freshening up in there"
@11547able California Uber Alles - Dead Kennedys
@whatletsfuck and that the problem with this soundtrack.
