Having been thru treatment myself and being a huge fan of sickler, episodes like this bring me much joy. No matter what ur dealing with, there are always people out there willing and able to help you get back.
Thank God for sickler. I've been in a hospital for the last month. I had to have serious neck surgery and Ryan's podcasts and stand-up has helped me so much I can't the I him enough. I wish I could make it to a live show when I'm healed up.
Hope you get to feeling better soon friend. Remember #NightpantsNation loves you BIG! you'll get to a live show soon just make that the focus of your recovery. It's an excellent goal. 💚
My husband had neck surgery. It's not fun especially how they didn't prepare us for the after surgery healing. The first week is the worse. It gets better...hang in there...treat your nurse well!!
Wow, what a meaningful conversation! Nick did such a good job at articulating, and Ryan did such a great job of listening, being open, interested, present, and engaged. Bravo you two! Bravo!
This is one amazing episode. Ive always loved Nick Thune and could not be happier to hear he is doing well and staying healthy. Cant wait to see a show from him in the future.
I've been following Nick since 2006/2007 from his days in the Seattle comedy club. He's an incredible talent and I'm very grateful that he's made it through this wild life of his still alive.
For anyone interested, the friend that Nick mentions who passed away is Richard Swift. He was a great musician who's definitely worth checking out, especially the album The Atlantic Ocean.
I love Nick Thune and his comedy so much. I had no idea about any of this and that he was an opiate addict like I was, and it makes me so happy to hear how well he’s doing. This is why I love this podcast, and Sickler Stay awesome Ryan 🙌🏼
best episode in a long time, maybe best episode ever. I'm currently struggling with quitting alcohol, i have the chest pains and kidney pains at 24. hearing this helped a lot. guy oddly looks a lot like an older version of me too, down to the fashion. wears similar rings on the same fingers even. crazy. glad i watched this.
I love this guy! Watched his Special so many times.. Good Guy. Such a soothing voice and incredible story. I’m so glad He shared his journey and grateful he’s doing so much better ❤️
Been watching & listening to Nick Thune for years. Such a funny guy. Went to go see him at the Hollywood Improv once...ran into him in the bathroom & at the bar. Both times we had regular convos as if he wasn’t a celebrity. He’s super humble & genuine!! Happy to see him doing the best podcast out right now! 👏🏼
This is kind of cool to see because I was first introduced to both Nick and Ryan on the very first episode of the Dumb People Town podcast by the Sklar Bro's and have been fans of both ever since.
Also went to rehab at 17. There was a 6 year old kid addicted to heroin. He was getting it from his older brothers and was a straight fiend. One of the saddest things I've ever seen. He's probably dead now.
Sadly drugs are easier to get in rehab than outside in most cases. It probably wasn’t heroin but opiates of some sort but when I was in rehab heroin was readily available almost always.
Hahaha that freaking Head in the toilet story brings back memories of me and my older brother, turned out he also ended up being a huge piece of a shit haha. So glad for Nick Thune, loved his comedy for so long now.
Ryan and Nick are right about using drugs for mental health. They aren’t a crutch at all. They are a tool to help achieve wellness. Sometimes therapy can get you to the door, but there are times where it can’t open that door to the goal. The right drug at an effective dose is the key to the door to wellness.
I've heard his story before. I could've swore he was on the honey dew before. It was probably bertcast. Does anyone know where he told his story before now?
Hi hey and hello yall! Hope your all doing fucking awesome! I love you all. Remember your loved and never ever alone please reach out no need to suffer along. Have a great tuesdey
Wow,What a good show! I never heard of Nick before. He is soo lucky to be alive and ,have a second chance. I thought I heard him mention a son.I hope he stays, clean and sober, his son needs a good role model.Ryan you crack me up! 🤣🤣🤣
when I was 16 & got my DL my mom took me at rush hour downtown in a stick shift, made me get in driver seat at red light & said, "now drive" I almost gave her whiplash & stalled it at least 10X but I did it & got us home. my 1st vehicle I got after that was stick( they more affordable vs automatic back then) my mom used to say everyone should be able to drive stick bc that way you will be able to drive anything. she said what if the only vehicle you have access to is stick & you can't drive it, you're stranded & will feel like a dumbass lol thanks mom 😄
What I will say about this podcast is this and by this podcast I mean this specific episode I’ll think when I was just high in the morning listening to this it was great but in the evening when I went to finish this episode after having a few drinks it made me feel sick to my stomach maybe that’s why the intended response should be because maybe I am noticing signs of myself going through this but man what an emotional response
When I was running and gunning I'd watch stuff like Intervention and it barely made me think twice. Until eventually it did. Now podcasts like this bring back a lot of the bad decisions, the shame and embarrassment, but in a good way. Now they scare me a little, reminds me of that shame and regret and death the way I was heading that are waiting if I start drinking again. But I don't ever want to do that, I had to give up my alcohol card, hopefully for good.
It's doable. Talk to some people, even just one person. Help is out there. Alcoholism varies, some people keep a constant stream of alcohol in their system from the moment they wake (that was me), for some It's "only" at night, for others the problem is the weekend binges. But they're all forms of alcoholism, and there's help for all of them. You should take precautions if you're a heavy daily drinker, medically assisted withdrawal is highly recommended as there are risks involved. That said it's a standard process, I had the joy of doing it twice... And it was worth it enough to do twice, I never want to be that sick and tired again. Life's a lot better on the other side of it.
talk to your doctor about the side effects from medication. Tell them what you dont like about it. I went through like 7 anti depressants for PTSD before I found what works for me. Talk to your doctor they want what's best for you.
I’m 6 days clean of alcohol and was dying and have two kids . This is exactly what I needed. Dang. Thanks Ryan and Nic.
You got this! Stay strong for yourself and those kiddos.
I got 3 weeks. Stay strong 💪
You got this Petra!! You’re doing so good!
Keep it up, I was the same, almost 2 years alcohol free. One day at a time, it gets easier!
Good work man. You got this! Write back in the comments in a month and let us know how you're doing. Seriously. I'd like to know.
Having been thru treatment myself and being a huge fan of sickler, episodes like this bring me much joy. No matter what ur dealing with, there are always people out there willing and able to help you get back.
I agree🎉

Get better soon, Mate. 💪

What a way to end the day. Got a joint and the honeydew 😉
Glad to hear from Nick, so happy he's doing better and I hope to see more from him. Thanks Ryan!
I wish Nick did a podcast or just made the rounds more often. Every time I see him on something it’s a great conversation.
Omg what a treat! I’m Redmond High School class of 2000. Wow! So many references. Great stories. Great podcast. 👏🏼👏🏼
This was such a crazy and amazing story. It's hard to believe how far gone he got and still was able to make it out alive.
Our high schools back flip guy's name was actually Daniel lmao and actually he wore tank tops quite frequently too
Thank you Nick for sharing your story. Much love.
Absolutely love Nick, his weed time line got me deep into standup and I’ll never look back. Love this podcast!
I've been following Nick since 2006/2007 from his days in the Seattle comedy club. He's an incredible talent and I'm very grateful that he's made it through this wild life of his still alive.
Ryan Sickler is the most present podcaster. He knows how to create a safe container for his fellow comics. Great pod! ✨❤️✨
This is probably my favorite episode by far ❤
For anyone interested, the friend that Nick mentions who passed away is Richard Swift. He was a great musician who's definitely worth checking out, especially the album The Atlantic Ocean.

It doesn't help though
@@father3dollarbill Sure it does. It helps to enjoy the good times because they dont last, it helps to know that the bad times dont last forever.
@@father3dollarbill it might not help YOU and that's OK but to say it doesn't help when there's at least one person (TJ Himes) is a little silly.
One of the best guests. Hell of a story. Thanks, Ryan!
Thank you Nick for your story. Beautifully told too. I will be sharing this with anyone that is struggling with their own battle
I love this guy! Watched his Special so many times.. Good Guy. Such a soothing voice and incredible story. I’m so glad He shared his journey and grateful he’s doing so much better ❤️

What was the outcome of the Lyme disease-tick bite? Anyone know?
A Ridgeline isn't a real truck and you'll get in trouble trying to use it like it is.
This episode was fucking great!
It wasn’t Daniel, it was Bob:)
Come to Cincinnati and perform Ryan!
Do you know who Jason Segal is?
Is he taking about Richard Swift?
Yeah, he is.
I wanted to be the backflip guy as well - first time I’ve heard someone else own the envy…
Never gonna look at Gresham the same 😬
Nick Thune looks like Karl Urban and Jason Mamoa had a love child.
Dude i want to quit, but it is too hard. Hearing Nick's story is terrifying, but i still cant stop even hearing what awaits me
