Your Losing Me" as a last minute add-on to "Midnights" and gave Jack permission to let fans know it was written in 2021 so that fans would get a clue and get off her back about her dating Matty & dismissing Matty the way they did. She wanted fans to know she and Joe had been having problems a long time and Matty was not the rebound they kept saying he was. She released that last minute add-on to Midnights and shouted on stage about how she was the happiest she'd ever been. She really was desperate to get the open letter crowd to STFU and get off Matty's back. And TTPD is really a letter to her fans. She wants people to get how much she loves him. Yeah. He's getting a spanking. But not as much as her fans. I do think that open letter crowd caused them a lot of private problems. I don't think Taylor cared, but Matty did for Taylor's sake. He felt like he was gonna drag her down. Pretty much all the songs on TTPD about Matty are written after their break-up. I'm not even a Swiftie. I'm a poet that was interested in the poetry, and it is heartbreaking. They finally had a chance to be together, and the world got it all backwards. She's really wanting people to get that.

I literally just found your channel just now and I love that you’re breaking down Taylor’s songs from the perspective of an English teacher looking at storytelling! I have always thought that every album of hers could have been a novel, and she has a way of writing a song that is very specific to her personal life but yet at the same time general enough for all of us to find shades of ourselves in them. TTPD almost reads like a play, actually. Love this! I just subscribed. 👍🏻
'I've seen this episode and still loved the show' reminds me of exile: 'I've seen this film before and I didn't like the ending'. To me TTPD (the song) is from a place of denial, but really she knows it's toxic. Both lines are speaking of the toxic cycle of a relationship, passively watching the scenes play out over and over, but in TTPD she chose this cyclone and still loves it.

Hello, I’m really enjoying these videos ❤ I think the main purpose of this song was to establish that it was about Matty, which is why it has all of the very specific lyrics. And also, to set up their relationship for the album, and what her mindset was at the time. I love this song so much ❤
Matty was the one who was insecure, NOT her (that's my take). This is her trying to convince him that they were meant to be together - which shouldn't have to be, but that was her reality. I've also heard her say that the songs that she writes about her relationships are to be obvious to that person, not so much to the fans. So perhaps they were together one night and he ate a significant amount of chocolate (lol), therefore he would KNOW this reference to him.
Remember the pap pictures of them walking out of Electric Lady together? I just have a feeling she was writing/recording Fortnight and this song. (There aren't a lot of other TTPD songs she's going to record with him in the room. lol) It was about 10 days post-Nashville shows. While I suspect it was written then, it could be an amalgamation of shared moments between 2014 and 2023 though I think the Lucy and Jack lines were referencing very recent events and not looking back over the decade.

As you said we do not know a lot about the timeline so this is hard to place on it, if it is even a singular period. To me this sounds like the start of the relation, the moment when they are hanging out but not officially a couple, where she needs validation from friends if this can work.

It could have been as early as January 2023 when she was at the 1975 show and performed anti hero on acoustic as a surprise. Allegedly, that was when her and Matt stayed up talking until 4am so if there was a start to this, I’d think maybe around then?
