Sir Austin, you should start with 1 of 1 album. The songs in the album are definitely chill and like Atlantis, a good album to bring your spirits up. SHINee's music are just food for the soul and personally their songs always help me cope with life. You made the best decision by giving them another chance. While Ring Ding Dong and most of their title tracks are iconic, their b-sides are amazing as well. I really recommend checking out 1 of 1 album, you will surely love the tracks!
What you said about Onew is soo true! In the beginning, I was in a bias rotation every week. But Onew hooked me because of how much it seems like he really enjoys the act of singing. What sealed the deal for me was the smile & wink combo on "1000 years, always by your side 130920" live performance . So yeah... MVP, wrecked by all of them!! Love your reactions! You're right, SHINee all love performing. It's pretty clear it's their favorite part about being an idol, also, while they are great solo performers, they really have a special synergy when they perform together. For Don't Call Me, they aren't even supposed to smile, but there is bts footage from the music shows where you can see them laughing and fooling around seconds before the performance starts, they only switch to serious mode for the mood of the performance, but their real mood is pretty happy. I guess it helps that they all like each other too haha.I genuinely believe that in a way I don't think any other kpop fandom can - SHINee have been through hell and back, and even before hell they have always been very open about the negative sides of being an idol too, which makes them seem very genuine... Actually before 1 of 1 released they had a concert during which Onew sprained his ankle (he couldn't dance in the mv, he was fine again when they started promoting, hence, he is dancing here). There is an interview about this somewhere that also addresses how he kept dancing even with a sprained ankle all the way to the end of the concert. He reminisces about how he knew Eberybody would be hard to do on the spot with just 4 people and so he decided to grit his teeth and bear with it. All members rushed to him to help him and take care of him, he was also supposed to appear on a further end of the stage but Taemin just decided on the spot to switch places and use that spot for him, all of them were really worried. And then he said, and I cite: "I was angry at myself because it felt like I ruined everything and I felt sorry to the audience, staffs and members. But all the anger, resentment and feeling of sorry all disappeared after doing that stage. In fact, I thought I could withstand any kind of hardships if I am with these friends. There was a time when I was asked whether I would choose to be in SHINee again if I were to reborn and I replied, half in jest, half in earnest, that I would if it consisted of these members. That suddenly flashed across in my mind." I still cry a little every time. 🥲 And this is just one example, there are several of these type of stories that just warm my heart and aside from their talent and music are a big reason for why I stan them and feel content in doing so.

Yeah, it’s interesting how the different members reacted to the fame that was suddenly thrust upon them because of how freaking talented they are, and you can definitely tell that Onew loves music so much, no matter what bs comes with it, I just automatically think of that first live performance he did after his throat surgery, and him starting to silently cry as he finished the song, so much relief and happiness in those tears…..and I love the whole retro feel of the 1 of 1 comeback, Onew was also so happy at that time because he was finally healed enough to dance again after not being able to in the mv, and we love rapper Key in this household

There is a live stage of Love like Oxygen later on in their careers where bc the backtrack is kinda old, they sing everything themselves the crazy addlips while dancing and stuff. You definitely should check that out
ooooh, if we're doing album reactions - the 1of1/1and1 album/repackage to this day, is one of my all-time favourite shinee albums, so i'd love to see you do a reaction to that. it hits that's 90's retro sound so perfectly, and has like 3 of my top 10 shinee songs in it. absolutely stellar.
my fav albums by them are definitely '1 and 1' (repackage of 1 of 1) and 'the story of light epilogue', these are some of the best albums in k-pop atlantis repackage and married to the music repackage (this is a repackage of 'odd' album) are on the second place their b-sides are not like their title tracks, especially old title tracks. their sound changed in 2015, when they gained creative freedom over their music, prior to that it was SM who choose their sound/songs. they have so much to offer in their b-sides also VERY highly recommend taemin's 'never gonna dance again' act 1 and act 2 albums and jonghyun's 'poet|artist', 'she is' albums. these are some of the best albums in k-pop as well, just pure masterpieces

If you're looking into some cool SHINee albums, I cannot stop recommending SHINee's debut album enough. It is so ridiculously solid and it's a regular part of my rotation. So many solid bops. Some other favorite albums for me were the Y.O.U album and the Lucifer album.
Concert performances are safer to react to than tv appearances. Japanese properties are heavily guarded. Maybe I'm naive but I think when you see Shinee you're getting a glimpse of the real people behind the public image. They know how blessed they are and are truly grateful. And they really are sweet and loveable and maybe a little goofy. But watch the video of them accepting the 2013 Artist of the Year award. Precious. I'm old. I've seen a lot of stars come and go. Shinee is the real deal.
I really relate with you about SHINee being happiness group. Whenever I'm down I would also watched their live stages and seeing how they really enjoy performing on stage and fooling around with their members. For album, my favorite is a tie between Odd and 1 of 1. Odd is my favorite album when I just became a shawol (Odd Eye is still my #1 SHINee song and I recall you hadn't reacted to it yet?). When I'm still a new shawol, retro concept sounded weird in my ears. But SHINee is truly ahead of their era, since now retro becoming more and more popular, I listened again the whole 1 of 1 album and realized how amazing it is. Now 1 of 1 is my first destination when I shuffled SHINee songs--I clicked a song from 1 of 1 album and let it shuffle the rest.

Thanks for the reaction! I think stage mix videos are a good way to see the styling and art direction, but you don't really get to appreciate the live stage aspect that way. It's not coincidence that the 1 of 1 stage was the only one where you talked about the live vocals - you can't even tell they're singing live in the stage mix videos. Still if there's a stage you want to watch and there's no concert version, I guess stage mix is better than nothing

On the 1of1 song you can also hear taemin and key having their breath a but cut by the choreo, when they do the little step jumps. Also I noticed with Taemin since he mostly sings in his breathy head voice which doesn't project as much he's usually eats the microphone, and will often have to fix it. I think it's also why you hear some more mic pops from him that the others. General rule if he's not basically eating the mic he's most likely not singing live.
There is a pair of pants during View era that has Open Here written on the crotch which Taemin wears. Key apparently missed it while styling them. Lol JaeJae brought it up during their episode of MMTG. Both episodes were so hilarious. I highly recommend you watch. Minho basically has to sit through 2 Keys having a grand time.
About my favourite album it's very difficult, they don't make our life easier, I can't choose a favourite song, I can choose maybe 5 songs that I don't love so much and that in all their discography Korean or Japanese kk but if I need to choose maybe the SHINee World because that's where it all started and the B sides are amazing and who can forget Romantic, In my room, Best place, Y Si Fuera Ella, Four Seasons, Graze Well the list goes on but Lucifer \ Hello it's the same thing I really can't choose even if my life depended on it kkkkk That's what SHINee does all their albums are masterpieces without skipping

I think you should react to the 1 of 1 or 1 and 1 repackage album. There isn't but a handful of these reviews. It didn't get the public's attention at the time as it should've. I also think the Story of Light Epilogue is a good one to review. It's the most mature album they have and the songs are just amazing. Also if you could have lyrics for the songs on the album to react to so you know they mean. That would be great. I know you'll get to it someday. Thank you.
I think I've read one or two, but yeah not many. It's too bad because 1 of 1 + Rescue (not quite a fan of the slower songs in 1 and 1, not that they're bad, it just makes the album's concept less sharp in my opinion) is probably their most experimental album in terms of sound and vocal arrangements. I don't think I've ever heard these types of sound from any other group. And they make it sound so effortless while doing the crazy notes change. Mad respect
I definitely recommend you 1 of 1 album. All the songs in this album are just so great and so SHINee. Their melody lines and harmonies were expressed in the best way that you can imagine, and nobody can come out to such a conceptive and high-quality album like this one. everything reach the top in the music industry.

That 1 of 1 stage that you just watched always makes me feel so many things. It was one of the happiest eras as a shawol and it will always remind me of the best times. I hope that you get to listen to more of their albums because seriously SHINee is a gift to the music world.

If you're looking into some cool SHINee albums, I cannot stop recommending SHINee's debut album enough. It is so ridiculously solid and it's a regular part of my rotation. So many solid bops. Some other favorite albums for me were the Y.O.U album and the Lucifer album.
Concert performances are safer to react to than tv appearances. Japanese properties are heavily guarded.
Maybe I'm naive but I think when you see Shinee you're getting a glimpse of the real people behind the public image. They know how blessed they are and are truly grateful. And they really are sweet and loveable and maybe a little goofy. But watch the video of them accepting the 2013 Artist of the Year award. Precious.

I really relate with you about SHINee being happiness group. Whenever I'm down I would also watched their live stages and seeing how they really enjoy performing on stage and fooling around with their members.
For album, my favorite is a tie between Odd and 1 of 1. Odd is my favorite album when I just became a shawol (Odd Eye is still my #1 SHINee song and I recall you hadn't reacted to it yet?). When I'm still a new shawol, retro concept sounded weird in my ears. But SHINee is truly ahead of their era, since now retro becoming more and more popular, I listened again the whole 1 of 1 album and realized how amazing it is. Now 1 of 1 is my first destination when I shuffled SHINee songs--I clicked a song from 1 of 1 album and let it shuffle the rest.

Thanks for the reaction! I think stage mix videos are a good way to see the styling and art direction, but you don't really get to appreciate the live stage aspect that way. It's not coincidence that the 1 of 1 stage was the only one where you talked about the live vocals - you can't even tell they're singing live in the stage mix videos. Still if there's a stage you want to watch and there's no concert version, I guess stage mix is better than nothing

Yeeesss I love this stages
On the 1of1 song you can also hear taemin and key having their breath a but cut by the choreo, when they do the little step jumps. Also I noticed with Taemin since he mostly sings in his breathy head voice which doesn't project as much he's usually eats the microphone, and will often have to fix it. I think it's also why you hear some more mic pops from him that the others. General rule if he's not basically eating the mic he's most likely not singing live.

There is a pair of pants during View era that has Open Here written on the crotch which Taemin wears. Key apparently missed it while styling them. Lol JaeJae brought it up during their episode of MMTG. Both episodes were so hilarious. I highly recommend you watch. Minho basically has to sit through 2 Keys having a grand time.
About my favourite album it's very difficult, they don't make our life easier, I can't choose a favourite song, I can choose maybe 5 songs that I don't love so much and that in all their discography Korean or Japanese kk but if I need to choose maybe the SHINee World because that's where it all started and the B sides are amazing and who can forget Romantic, In my room, Best place, Y Si Fuera Ella, Four Seasons, Graze Well the list goes on but Lucifer \ Hello it's the same thing I really can't choose even if my life depended on it kkkkk That's what SHINee does all their albums are masterpieces without skipping

I think you should react to the 1 of 1 or 1 and 1 repackage album. There isn't but a handful of these reviews. It didn't get the public's attention at the time as it should've. I also think the Story of Light Epilogue is a good one to review. It's the most mature album they have and the songs are just amazing. Also if you could have lyrics for the songs on the album to react to so you know they mean. That would be great. I know you'll get to it someday. Thank you.
I think I've read one or two, but yeah not many. It's too bad because 1 of 1 + Rescue (not quite a fan of the slower songs in 1 and 1, not that they're bad, it just makes the album's concept less sharp in my opinion) is probably their most experimental album in terms of sound and vocal arrangements. I don't think I've ever heard these types of sound from any other group. And they make it sound so effortless while doing the crazy notes change. Mad respect

I definitely recommend you 1 of 1 album. All the songs in this album are just so great and so SHINee. Their melody lines and harmonies were expressed in the best way that you can imagine, and nobody can come out to such a conceptive and high-quality album like this one. everything reach the top in the music industry.
