Supermarket is supposed to offer cheaper prices because they buy very big quantities to sell in the whole country. But it's not the case. Personally i only purchase there the things i can't find in the different and many convenient stores in every corner of the streets. Hanout (can find everything) Gazzar (butcher) Mahlaba (natural yogurt, trad. butter, msemmn, harsha...) Attar (spices, dry fruits...) Etc...
Yeah, you are right. Prices of most goods/stuff have gone up in the whole world......INFLATION !! So it's best to spend wisely. Thank you very much for that cool supermarket tour.
I advise you to go to the local souks for vegetables and fruits. And buy the rest at the local butcher and small neighborhood shops. It will definitely save you some money.
Carrefour and Marjane are considered very expensive to shop in Morocco. You go away from the tourists areas and it is much cheaper to shop. Fruit and vegetables half the price. Wages are low in Morocco and shopping in Carrefour etc is a treat for most families. If a family member in Europe sends home money it usually means a trip to Marjane or maybe Eid or some such holiday.
Most Moroccans are fed up with high prices . We have Europe prices in Africa. That's why most locals shop at Souks instead of supermarkets. Cheers. Moroccan in USA
Most Moroccans, including middle class and upper middle class, will not do (all) their shoppin in a supermarket. There are many things I buy at supermarkets for convenience (diary products for instance, water, cleaning and hygiene products, pasta, and other products that are used in making international cuisine), but fresh food items (fruits, vegetables, spices, fish, and meat...), I wouldn't buy in a supermarket unless I am really out of time. Not only is it much cheaper to buy at the market, but you also support small farmers and local business instead of multi-nationals. Also, it's a completely different way of living: I would say only a tiny fraction of Moroccans would buy canned or bottled tomato sauce (why would we when have massive tomato production), or say instant soup, or packed salads or bottled fruit juice (although this one is getting some market) or any other kind of processed food. We like to make our food from scratch. Also most Moroccans will not buy their honey or olive oil from the super market, but from the market, or directly from producers in farms...
I have been to Laayoune a while ago, with my wife before we had kids, would love to return but we have to leave the country in the next days as the visa is over.
What happened to Moroccan leather- it supposed to have a red dyed leather thats distinct for them, don't know if whatever they make- shoes, bag's slippers have distinction
So the advice I can give you, we have a lot of low-cost stores, for example 5dh on average 10 dh favor artisanal biscuits €4 per kg buy when the tray is full, this guarantees you freshness there are local fast foods you can eat a full meal for €4 meat vegetables bread rice or fries too bad if I was present I would have made you discover the good places where you eat well and the food is inexpensive. Have a good stay in Morocco
@yvesthesleeve ya fact you have to shop around different shops for better prices on different things its easy in my town all the big shops are very close to each other.
@@Paddyman8869 most morocains stay away from such supermarkets they are expensive. Local markets and traditinal markets much cheaper. In europe i agree is very expensive living
Food prices has gone up in the whole world, nothing is cheap anywhere, tined mushrooms use to be just for 10 dh and even 8 dh in some places, since the the war started and also since the pandemic , everything gone up in price
Well, I did see many people do that and some of the fruits and vegetables are sometimes cheaper (although generally not, you are right). I always buy them at the souk actually
@@yvesthesleeve True, I'm personally sometimes too lazy to go to the Souk, so I buy it from there. It also depends where the supermarket is located, near me, their vegetables and fruits are not sold quickly and in many times are spoiled.
These prices in general are a rip off....most European products that these grocery stores sell are not beneficial for health and much overpriced or expensive than Europe and that for a country where middle class earnings is around 400-500 euro a month... To go there to do your general grocery that's not quite smart or just for the rich class who has much to spend.
Well.. most of the goods are quite pricey, but of course imports are always more expensive but Morocco is not a cheap country for sure, many things are more expensive than Europe, even certain meat is.
@ Morocco is very cheap for foreigners becuz they get paid in US dollar or Euro whereas very expensive for locals becuz they get paid in Moroccan Dirham.
Anything that is imported is more or less the same as everywhere else in the world. This seventh year of drought isn't helping with the price of groceries, poultry and meat either.

I see, sure thing
@yvesthesleeve but still better for you because retail you know the prices and you can communicate with employees.
how is casablanca a tourist city? there is no tourist area other than the old medina and the hassan 2 mosque in casabmanca.
Imported stuff is always expensive here .. especially electronics
Sure thing
Aswak assalam..marjane..alfa 55.. is morrocan market
duly noted
SOUKS ARE CHEEPER FOR FRUITS AND VEGETABLES
Yes, I noticed that, but not always, many times apples and peaches are cheaper at the supermarket...

Yes I can understand that, it's crazy
As far as I know, most imported items are quite expensive. Local items are much cheaper.

bon, interessant. But we are not on holidays, we have no Swiss salaries, we struggle to survive
Everything imported is priced same as Europe or even more because of tariffs! everything made domestically is moderately priced or cheap!
not every domestically is cheap, like meat is not cheap at all

hello there
Its cheap when its about something that IS consumed every day like fruit and vegetabels ...and carrefour litle expansive than asswak or marjane
Not so sure, I checked and Marjane was more expensiven than Carrefour for most things

yes you are absolutely right

It's very expensive due to inflation anyway It's cheap for the rich 😅😢😮
Well.. the rich are dying out ....
Rich people used their minds and became rich, while others continue to lament their failures and blame others.😮💨😮💨
look for work man.
The only goods that are expensive are imports because Moroccan Dirham is 10 times weaker than US dollar and Euro.
Well.. most of the goods are quite pricey, but of course imports are always more expensive but Morocco is not a cheap country for sure, many things are more expensive than Europe, even certain meat is.
@ The main reason of inflation for local products in Morocco is low wages and high taxes imposed by the regime which also rise every year.
@ Morocco is very cheap for foreigners becuz they get paid in US dollar or Euro whereas very expensive for locals becuz they get paid in Moroccan Dirham.

Well, it is the one you see the most, definitely not the cheapest choice

yes, 3 years of that pandemic did not help either...it was handled extremly badly.

Marjane is better than Carrefour, more products and more offers
Also more expensive....
👍👍👍👍
Hi, why don't you go to Marjane or Aswak ? we hate Carrefour, it doesn't represent us as moroccans
Why would you say something like that? Marjane is the supermarket with the highest sales numbers in Morocco. And Marjane is much more expensive.
