Imagine the line hitting. Killed this boy... And now knowing. There was no actual reason to be there. Welcome to Hell. We embraced the suck but, now.... How do I explain my existence for others!?
I really wish someone would remake this with higher-quality video (HD if possible, and in the correct aspect ratio). This video only existing in sub-360p resolution is a crime.
+Stephen Stone Still nine years later, one of the most contemplative and impacting, coordinating AMVs of its ostensible genre/message, in my opinion. There is one from Fullmetal Alchemist older as well with the same song which I appreciate.
The source anime was made before 1080p was a thing. The entire anime is in 4:3 so there can't be a truly 1080p of any AMV of it. I remember seeing this years ago around when it first came out and it did not have that great of a resolution... That being said, this version is pretty degraded (probably from being recompressed). This is surely better quality (despite just being 352 x 240): www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=8101
The greatest AMV ever. It was so well done for its time it made me hunt down the DVD set overseas because it was so damn close to perfection in my mind after seeing this.
Okay. Story time. This is actually the most important song in my life. Around 2002 Ii got my first internet access at home, and in about 2 years I was a constant inhabitant of an anime-forum (yeah kids, it used to be just as nerdy back then) I came from classical musical school, learnt the piano and absolutely hated rock/metal. Until I was shown this exact song in an AMV (anime music video). The contrast, the fresh idea of combining classical music with metal (little did I know of previous projects or bands), the energy.... Not only did it grow on me, it instantly caught me. I re-watched that bad, over-compressed video (remember, this was dial-up era) like 100 times until it changed my life. I'm now a diehard metalhead, not a musician (I have muscular atrophy, can't hold the guitar, much less play it... newver even got out of the starting book of my 6 years in piano) but still, quite a different guy than I otherwise would be. All thanks to this song, Tuomas and Tarja. And this AMV
This has to be by far the most gritty, and realistic of all the Gundams out there. Not the most one of a kind, unique, but definitely the most realistic and believable.
I believe they actually consulted the military when making this series, or they had a few veterans in their creation team who had been in conflict before, which makes it more believable. It's an amazing series, and me and my siblings agree, the best one. They really should've Incorporated this more in other series. (They KIND OF did in Ironblood(?) Orphans)
I remember seeing this at the AMV contest at Anime Oasis back in 2004. Still the best AMV I've ever seen! Best directing I've seen in an AMV. STILL gives me goosebumps. Thank you for putting it on TH-cam.
one of the very *first* AMVs i ever downloaded, at age 19, i had my 1st computer i could call my own, i was using KaZaa, had my own personal phone line and dial-up internet, was living in my second group home, it was 2003, and here i am in 2023, age 39, and i love this AMV, still. so much nostalgia, thank you, for re-uploading this, it's still as epic as it was the day i first discovered it
+YuukiKonnoAMV This specific AMV broke me into both Symphonic Metal (Nightwish as a gateway) and Gundam Anime (08th, then outward from there). Prior to this, I was kinda 'meh' on Gundam W, but I gave it a second look after seeing this AMV about a dozen times in a row.
The main character of this particular Gundam show ( Shiro Amada) is in fact the oldest MAIN character piloting a suit in the whole gundam universe (not counting that War in the Pocket). Yes, there are Char, Gato and some others, but they are all secondary characters. And this is one of the coolest things in 08th team - No kids piloting the suits :) No supernatural brain waves and deep philosophy about the life and peace, that took great place in others Gundam shows.
Nearly 15 years ago this was the video that introduced me to Nightwish. Now I'm here again a mere 2 weeks after Marco's announced his retirement from Nightwish. 10th Man Down imo is still one of their most epic and badass songs. Still a great AMV too ;)
My love of all things 08th MS Team introduced me to the world of Nightwish. And this video still kicks so much ass almost 10 years later (found in the fall of 07.)
Fantastic video, even if so many years past. And, as with the rest of the commentators, i wish i knew who was behind it - so that i could bug him to make it again in much higher quality :) It deserves milions of views.
The first time I saw this, a friend showed it to me at Anime Oasis. (in 2004???) I have always believed this is one of the best edited/directed AMVs I have ever seen! (Up there with the "This is Halloween Soul Eater" AMV winner: th-cam.com/video/qztch6_Uhuk/w-d-xo.html ) I am shocked that this didn't win any awards for best AMV? Anyways, now 16(?) years later I cannot listen to the song without looking this up. It still gives me shivers! 😁 If you've never seen this anime before, look it up! It's like "Tom Clancy's" spin off of Mobile Suit Gundam. They obviously had military consultants, or veterans who had been in conflict help write this story! (The best part, no Amuro & Char!) It happens WHILE all that drama is happening, but only Earth. This is what a small group of Federation soldiers are doing during the conflict. I hope if you haven't seen it, this will peak your interest.
ahh i remember this AMV, i dled it off of limewire a few years ago, n its quality is alot better when u actually have the amv. Thnx for postin it , i nearly forgot bout it
Still so powerful, and accurate of war per the countless innocent, the expert use of 8th MS Team pairing with this 10th Man Down... endless gratitude for enduring masterpiece
there's forbidden star crossed lovers who start out by as enemies trying killing eachother, there's atrocity, genocide, sacifice & the horror of being the only one left of those you've served with & therefor must finish & make things right at all cost so that the past can rest in peace & so that the future might suvive to become a reality-
@@AcridWhistle yup! I got this off Limewire wayyyy back in high school haha. And for some reason posted it to TH-cam when it first launched, which is crazy to think was almost two decades ago.
@dan125171776 There's also cliches, cheesiness, more writing problems than you can shake a stick at, but it does have my favorite fictional character of all time.
AMVs still are a thing...except most of the folks don't quite get it right. This one was done with real talent, who could match the animations to the music and lyrics. Rubyeye had a clear talent, and I wonder if they went on to a career in movie/show production. They deserved it. But if you're unsure about AMVs, just type AMV into the TH-cam bar and see how many results it comes up with.
Oh god this vid is still up!? I haven't seen this in 10 years!
I downdloaded this on limewire over a decade Argos
i see what you did there ;)

This is from 08th MS, I have the episodes, and the amv somewhere.

If the creator is reading this I need him to redo this video but in HD. Honestly.
I wish we had a way to track down the original creator or someone to recreate it in HD.
This is still a good vid...possibly the best AMV out there....and it manages to convey a powerful message.
