I applaud the officer for getting almost directly to the point and then ending the stop as soon as it's clear there's no law being broken. I've never had one that didn't end with some lecture about how he's concerned about my safety and usually an instruction to stay out of the road.
Yes. He gets a lot of credit for brevity. I do run an extremely bright flasher on my tail. I’ve had local police compliment me on it before. Not sure if that parts of it.
Why would you applaud him? He literally just pulled the guy over just to look at it. He overstepped the biker's boundaries and abused his authority over something that was completely legal. This is not what a professional police force that has your safety in mind does.
Now that was a friendly stop. And for curiosity only. If I had been the cop, I would have driven behind you for a while, just to check how fast you are.
Yes. Of course it would be nice if the cops would not stop velomobile riders simply because they are curious, but he was at least pleasant and quick about it. The left turn lane at a busy stop light is not really the ideal place to stop someone.
😂 this is what was the strangest part. He didn’t even stop me for riding. I was a captive audience for his curiosity. Now he can be internet famous like the last two officers. Next time I will tell them to be sure to smile for the camera.
Now the question is what if it had e-assist? "Is it motorized?" "Well, yes, it's a class-II e assist bike. It only does 20 mph with the motor." He sees you running 45 mph "I thought you said it only goes 20 mph with the motor!" "That's correct, sir. After 20 mph the motor cuts out, but it's so sleek that it just doesn't build up wind resistance. Something about Newton."
Yeah. I have a new velomobile coming that I could add assist to. One of the reasons I hesitate is exactly the scenario you mention. I can do 30mph on the flat without assist if I’m pushing it. In fact, we have a class of e-assist that allows up to 28mph with a 750 watt motor. Useful as a car replacement, but I do worry about what would happen with a police stop.
Because of it doesn’t beep at me I forget my turn signal is on. I’m not smart enough to remember to true them off every time. The annoying noise is very effective at helping me remember.
Have your lawyer send pictures to the police dept. and tell them since they now know what it is you will not be stopping for them to find out what it is anymore.
I agree with Sebastian, visit the Police Station, let them look over it, it shows not only respect for their difficult job but it would be a good educational experience for them. Velomobiles are only going to increase in popularity (because they are brilliant). That officer did a great job, he saw a vehicle on the road and did he due diligence to verify if it was appropriate. I also applaud the rider, you both handled that interaction well. It can be super frustrating when you get pulled over but in the end, they are just doing their jobs like us. We need to support more officers like this one. Great job to all.
@@sebastiandomagala9233 as an "ambassador" for velomobiles, that would would be the most optimal solution. Educate them and they can educate others. It's a win-win situation. Great for publicity AND business.

It sucks you missed the light, as many of those NA lights can easily take 5 minutes to cycle back to you
This one fortunately is not quite that long, but it did set my arrival home back by another minute or so. But hey, now I have a new visor for TH-cam.
Why the hell you got that noise on the indicator?

Or visit the police station and show them. Way cheaper than a lawyer.
