Your videos are very relatable! I’m staring my second semester and finding patient that meet specific requirements seems like it’s going to be extremely challenging. I also have that one instructor that seems to keep all of my classmates and myself on edge 🙄

Hi! I really enjoy your videos and would watch them before I went into dental hygiene school! I totally feel your pain on the requirements. I’m in my second semester of the program and we are starting to see patients now and that is my fear is that people are going to cancel and that I won’t be able to move on because of all the requirements not to mention all the competencies on the side that you have to complete!
It’s definitely not easy but try to stay calm and plan ahead. I learned that the hard way. If your patient quality’s for a comp then please please please go ahead and do. Put it in your planner to prepare for it when the pt comes back. Your hurting yourself by not going ahead and comping when a pt meets the qualifications.
Finding patients is the worst part. I hate when patients don’t show because it reflects back on us😭🤦🏽♀️

Maybe this question sounds dumb but dentalhygenist are allowed to work alone with patient right? So you don't have to be the dentist,'s assistant, right?
Not dumb at all. The hygienist will be working with the patient alone without the dentist, but there may be time where the dentist has to be in the room. A dental assistant is a person that works right along the dentist. I hope this helps!

Getting patients for sure seems the most stressful. Your relying on someone else. That’s not fair to us. We worked sooo hard to get into school. Now we have to rely on other people for us to make it through.
