I have to say, I really admire Wednesday's innocent, yet disturbing personality. It strikes the perfect balance of macabre and charm. I feel like Christina Ricci could have pulled off a character like this too, wasn't really a fan of how they transformed the character into a monotone, brooding, goth teen in the 90s movies (not to knock anyone's performance ofc).

I feel like it makes sense for the character in the films being older. (I also think a lot of Wednesday's behaviour in the films, second one especially, is a bit of an act that she puts on around people who aren't part of the family...when she's with the family, while she's still creepy, she hugs them and seems to be genuinely having fun swordfighting with Pugsley, blowing things up with Fester, etc...)

There was a focus on wit that you don't see with todays visual focused films. The Addams B&W series is pure wit, another good throwback is 1955 The Court Jester. Back in the day before CGI they had to make every word count.
I feel like Morticia and Gomez were ahead of their time on grounding Wednesday instead of spanking her as Uncle Fester had insisted. What I mean was it seemed that most parents of that time either spanked their kids by using a switch from a tree or a belt! I applaud Gomez and Morticia for not doing that to Wednesday.
Well I grew up in a black household with black parents and black families always have and still use the switches and belts lol definitely the difference between white parents and black ones.
@@kendallrivers1119 Not that much different, I'm a white man from an all white familly, and it was still a thing during the early 80s, getting sent to the principal's office was always bad news and it usually meant to me that I definitely messed up somewhere, now obviously it's a criminal offense that can easily mean going to jail over child abuse or even worst, and I don't need to tell you what happens to child abusers once arriving to prison... My parents never did this to me, even when the principal told them what I did, but it wasn't pretty once home, even though they never believed in corporal punishment so I still think that I was lucky... However, my uncle went too far at some point and he's got the belt ( we call it the strap ) from my grandpa, but it was during the 50s and such discipline ways were a common thing back then, the cops were never stepping in, at least he's got his lesson, now he's a doctor...
@@curlyyasmin181 What you don't understand is that this cuter, younger Wednesday was basically written because of major censorship in the 1960s. And plus, Christina Ricci's Wednesday is an early teenager, not a 6 year old, so it wouldn't have worked properly if they got Christina to act like a 6 year old when she was about 13. And plus, Christina's Wednesday stayed much truer to the old Charles Addams cartoons, because Wednesday wasn't really a "cutie" in them either!

I wish her and John could have been together outside the show, but she died knowing how he really felt all long and he found that out too. I love that they got their backstage kisses when the 60’s era shows wouldnt allow people to kiss on the lips in television. Doesn't sense since they allowed John to kiss hey whole body… but a peck on the lips is out of the question. They were too sweet and their affection on camera was groundbreaking during this time period.

Back in this era you could make some pretty out there dark humor
I'm throwing my parents in the worst Old folks home there is in Ontario I'm just going to leave them there to rot that's what I'm going to do I got to give them a taste of their own medicine see how they like it .!!.
You can't even make an abuse joke like that anymore. It has to be subtle and go over people's heads.
@@dilungmoveityafool777 Yes you can. People do it all the time.
Loved that perfect hour glass shape of Carolyn Jones (Morticia ) . She was gorgeous . Was great watching these growing up , even better now !
She went too soon
I want her tentacle dress.
Sadly, on August 3rd, 1983 Carolyn Jones died of colon cancer
The guy playing sergeant Hailey did an amazing job, very good acting.
That was Jesse White.
@@juansequera5237 The Original Maytag Repairman!
I love Christina Ricci as Wednesday
I heard that Christina Ricci was instructed to idolize Morticia, and so mimicked Angelica Houston's more morose portrayal.
I love Christina Ricci as Wednesday❤
ya they wanted her to be like mortrica because they wanted her to look up to her mom I guess but I like that and also I think they were just trying to make it so she was like growing up and getting older
I love it how they creep everyone out and don't realise it 😊
Creepy with a heart of gold
Both those kids are so cute.
I love how when Motricia speaks everybody listens, even an irrate police man
Thank you MGM for uploading these videos to TH-cam 😄 I love this version of the Addams family such a classic
I am 17 yrs old and I ENJOY THE ORIGINAL ADDAMS FAMILY AND I DO ENJOY 60s showslike thisss.
And people think im weird for watching 1960s movies and tv shows..
Idk but I FEEL HAPPY WATCHING THESE KINDS OF OLD SHOWS.
And i wasnt even born on that time yet i wish to be living in that timeeeeeEeee
And dont get me wrongggg.
I love The Addams family with Christina ricci in it and i laugh hard at that movie
But i find myself enjoying and watching more of the original Addams family tv series.
LOVE THE BLACK AND WHITE!!
There was a focus on wit that you don't see with todays visual focused films. The Addams B&W series is pure wit, another good throwback is 1955 The Court Jester. Back in the day before CGI they had to make every word count.
@@gracegabris6556 why?
Yuuko Tombo Dude, your comparing a television sitcom to, what I can assume, a blockbuster type movie.
Kind of a bad comparison, don’t ya think?
@@BigK13372 why?
6:38 Morticia: Uncle Fester the police are on their way over.
Uncle Fester: They'll Never Take Me Alive!
Me:😂😂😂😂LOL
I love these old episodes .. grew up on them .. thanks for adding them
Bet Fester and Pugsley never told Gomez or Mortica that Wednesday actually ran away
Why make them worry if she is ok
It's a shame they are not uploading more episodes.
There is a whole channel dedicated to the original Addams family on Pluto T.V
Back when tv was high quality....
..... and the most well adjusted couple ever.....
As a kid, I wanted the Addams & the Clampetts as my neighbors...
That sergeant is a great responsible guy. He does his duty pretty well
I feel like Morticia and Gomez were ahead of their time on grounding Wednesday instead of spanking her as Uncle Fester had insisted.
@@kendallrivers1119 pretty sure I am that you are the less racist citizen in USA
The new Wednesday is just not the same. She is suppose to be cute but creepy. The new one is just creepy.
She's still cute and creepy.
@@Charcoal2023 nope
@@curlyyasmin181 What you don't understand is that this cuter, younger Wednesday was basically written because of major censorship in the 1960s. And plus, Christina Ricci's Wednesday is an early teenager, not a 6 year old, so it wouldn't have worked properly if they got Christina to act like a 6 year old when she was about 13.
And plus, Christina's Wednesday stayed much truer to the old Charles Addams cartoons, because Wednesday wasn't really a "cutie" in them either!
Wendsday is rather sweet in the 2019 movie.
I love Morticia and Gomez. They make such a great couple. Love the family ❤
When they were dancing at 12:46 it was cute and hilarious
Gomez: why did you not stop her?!
Pugsley: you know woman when they make up their minds................

In the movies, Wednesday is the older sibling. I love the fact that in the original series, Pugsley was the older sibling.
Me too
The Addams Family... the healthiest and most loving family on television EVER!
Wednesday is adorable at this age.
I'm only 23, but my parents raised me on reruns of The Addams Family and The Munsters. Still two of my favorite shows! My kindergarten teacher also taught my class the days of the week in a song to the tune of The Addams Family song, with snapping and all.
22, and same
I can’t believe it. I was taught the days with that song, and I never picked up on it until you mentioned it. Who would’ve thought?
What were the lyrics?
I forgot all about that! My kindergarten teacher taught us the same thing!
15 lol
Please show us one with cousin Itt
YESSSSSSSSSSS please

4:12 I LOVE that Gomez, logically, questions why Pugsley didn't stop Wednesday from running away, but when Pugsley responds with the "once a woman's made up her mind" thing, you can see Gomez smile and nod like "Yup, that checks out. My boy is sharp, I'm proud"
I'm so happy this show is on ytb. It's a classic and an absolute masterpiece! Nowadays shows are trash in comparison with that one.
I love that uncle fester is the one picking wednesday up and then seeing the new wednesday series and that fester saying wednesday is his favourite Also love how happy he is at the end when they are playing
Lisa Loring was such a little cutie. It's so sad that she passed away. I would've love to have seen her in the new season of Netflix's Wednesday.
Probably as Granmama?
The fact that Carolyn loved this character so much she kept everything. Her dress, wig, her wicker chair… I was always kept in her room until the day she died.
“Oh no please. I’ll talk.” 😂❤️
It was the idea of wicked witches being slain that broke her.
I am 56 years old and still laughing.
I've got 14 more years on you... and *I'm* still laughing. It's the only version of The Addams Family that gets Charles Addams' humor just right... largely because the producers, directors and actors all got it.
@@guinnberger9356 I was Lurch for Halloween when I was about 5 years old. Lol This humor is exactly like mine. Even as a kid.

6:40 Uncle Fester had some of the best darn lines in this show
This is my favorite Wednesday episode. She was so adorable,. that she got a lot of attention on set. Kenny was a tad jealous of that attention that he would play numerous pranks in her but never hurt her.
I loved the way he defended her on this episode.
The funny thing was when she left for the tuna cannery, she left out the window but they were in the second floor and the tree was several feet from the house.
This was one of the best television series in the 60s
