This is my first time ever hearing that he was in his 30s. Most of the time people never mention what his age was, and I always just figured we didn't know.
I believe the age of adulthood is different in different parts of Japan. I heard somewhere that at the time it was 20 where the two were at , but that it's been changed to 18 in recent years. Does this matter to the story? I don't even know.
I've heard ONE person say the girl was mentally disabled, and thus somehow unable to consent anyways, but I've never heard that ANYWHERE ELSE.
People couldn't even get it straight whether it was his girlfriend or wife or not.
The one thing people do consistently mention is that he cheated.
I've honestly just given up on figuring out whatever the hell happened at this point. Even if I knew what source to locate all this info at, I probably wouldn't have the energy to waste on it anyways.
