As a retired Jaguar schooled technician over in the UK, I was very impressed by the quality of the vehicle, If I win the Lottery this week I will make him an offer 😉.
I've never even considered Jaguar ownership. This however has me head-over-heels - what a machine! And what a great guy in Mark - build to live in the world you create!
That car is as glorious as a fine glass of scotch. It’s positively gorgeous. A fantastic restomod from bumper to bumper. Thanks for an excellent episode, Hagerty!
People should take into consideration that California cars that spend their time in beach cities have lots of rot in them because of the moist salty air. The cars that spend their time in California Inland are perfect. But one's by the beach can be eaten up pretty bad. So be careful.
I love the MkII, frankly, it might be the first classic car I go after as a father of two school aged kids: the heart of an E-Type, but all four of us can enjoy it. This looks to be one of the finest MkII examples out there.
Okay, now that I am through swooning for a moment. Wow, what an amazing example. I absolutely love that car. One of the most gorgeous sedans of all time.
Just stunning, and done to an impeccable standard. I’ve never considered one of these, like others have written, if I hit the lottery - this would be on my list. Greatly enjoy the Appraiser series, thank you! ~ Chuck
Wonderful. My late aunt in Sweden had one in this gold sand metallic, it was a dream. Many years after she had sold it, she went to a vet with her dog. He looked at the dog and then he was asking for her name and information for the invoice, he stopped writing when she said her surname. He asked if she had owned a Jaguar once. She said I have owned two, oh dear the vet said, please come with me. In the same building as his clinic he had his garage. They went into the garage and there stood my aunts 3.8 L in totally restored condition. She was a tough woman, due to the circumstances as a child she fled in a rowing boat from an Estonian island during the end of WW2 together with her family of seven to Sweden. She however softened and needed a Kleenex when she re-joined in the Jag for a tour with the vet. R.I.P Helena N. Note All cars in Sweden had an owner name sign in the car at this time, and it was still in the car when the vet bought it.
I love restomods the romance of such a classic ride with the correct touch can be a long term keeper, everyone remembers some classic car but forgets having to got to Napa or Pep Boys for plugs points & condenser. For what they cost to restore "WHY NOT" make it drivable for every day . What a awesome car.
I want one. Especially if you know the history both of the company and the fact this was THE choice of the day for UK crooks looking to outrun the plod after a heist, you know how special the Mark 2 is. This is the aforementioned turned up past 11. Gorgeous car, thank you to Hagerty for featuring it. Cheers! 🖖😎👍
OK... added A/C, made some electrical and cooling mods, engine balanced with lightweight flywheel... what else? Would have been nice to have the owner take a couple minutes to point out all the mods he made than having the appraiser just eyeball and guess about everything.
Magnificent example! Classy in all respects! British as hell too! Money very well spent! You cannot do this on the cheap! Brilliant and terrific too! Well done America! Cheers
I bought my jaguar mark 2 in 1977 for £700 pounds I bought it from chivas regal the whiskey 🥃 company in paisley Scotland 🏴 uk 🇬🇧 it was a 1964 2.4 automatic it was a beautiful dark wine colour with red leather upholstery it had only done 43 thousand miles from new it had been garaged and chauffeur driven from it was in as good condition as the one in the video for a tiny fraction of the. Price this one is beautiful
It is certainly a pretty car but definitely not something I have ever lusted after or desired. The Jaguar E type, absolutely or the XJSS but these are obvious special but for a "hot rod" sedan since I am a red-blooded American I might rather have a GM sedan with a LSA or LT4 swap and 6 speed with suspension, brakes, and wheels. They made several sedans that look very close to the more popular 2 door models.
Yes! This has always been one of my favorite cars so with that in mind if I were in the market I wouldn’t be frightened away by the estimated auction price. I would jump on it in a heartbeat.
@thebigpicture2032 and the SUs deliver better power curve for road use, rather than having to have it on-cam as you would with Webbers. And William Lyons would never have used something so uncouth as a Webber! :)
Breaks my heart, a plastic pic-up truck sells for over 80 grand. Yet this piece of art is worth the same. I don't think so. This vehicle was hand built with love. Those trucks roll off an assembly line. SMH
I see a few minor changes, not a hatchet job. Frankly, I would prefer this over a completely original car since it is more usable. Air conditioning just makes it driveable in summer, and the triple carb setup looks great. Also, these cars were not designed to cool in the southern US, so the cooling mods are a necessity for the car to be driven.
I thank him for spending the time and money to create a modernized version of a timeless classic. I love the car. So elegant.
If you want a 'new' car, then why not just buy a new car? :0)
@@williamr3840 You simply do not get it.
@@N-Scale Thats right! :0)
@@williamr3840you either get it or you don’t you certainly don’t

I think there are people who like it & some who simply dont, there is a car for everyone

Now…if I can just get this guy to let it go for a glass of fine scotch! Might be a challenge.

True but even the ones by the beach are clean underneath. If you’re in the rust belt, those cars are like gold.
Try a mk2 in Scotland lol 😂 I’m still looking for a solid project 🥴
It's just like new. Like it's teleported with a time machine. Gorgeous.
Better than new!

Amazing car!! I'd LOVE to see a good running video of this Jaguar having some fun!
I feel like Bring a Trailer would bring $140k -$180k... bidding wars have brought some crazy numbers to the table.
I can imagine there are not many LHD versions left out there, much fewer anywhere NEAR this pristine.
Cheers! 🖖😎👍
Fantastic car! Brings back fond childhood memories of my father’s 1961 MK 2 3.8!
Thanks so much!
Great to see Tony and the boys addition. Loved the Jaguar.

Sweet Jag! Nice work Mark! Appreciate you using the proper name for the bonnet :D
Beautiful paint, beautiful interior and an overall beautiful car.
Great looking mk2 but the strong market for these was in the 90s now the big money is going into the jaguar xjc coupe especially the V12 cars.
Best example of the the best jag ever. There is no fair price for it.
I own the same car in opalescent blue--perfection!
OK... added A/C, made some electrical and cooling mods, engine balanced with lightweight flywheel... what else? Would have been nice to have the owner take a couple minutes to point out all the mods he made than having the appraiser just eyeball and guess about everything.
Yes a missed opportunity. You can tell the owner wanted to point out all the mods.
Gorgeous, and I was shocked to hear the owner say he thought it was worth 80K.
I'm from Coventry and love seeing Jaguars' and their owners keeping the classics going.
Magnificent! That legendary engine won Le Mans five times in the 50's.
I thought it was some smaller version of a Rolls in the thumb nail pictures. Beautiful restoration.
As the early Jaguar adverts stated: Grace, Space and Pace.
With all his upgrades and work, it would be more than true today.
Beautiful car especially the paint color. 100k would be a great price for it. That car looks good whether it sits still or is moving.
Art, sheer beautiful, historical art❤
When you see a car like this don't modern cars look crap Stunning
Magnificent example! Classy in all respects! British as hell too! Money very well spent! You cannot do this on the cheap! Brilliant and terrific too! Well done America! Cheers
It's a total beauty. Wire wheels! Wow! Yes, I too think it's worth more than 100k.
I would've thought 120k on the low end. It's just so clean and classy.

An owner that is realistic in expectations on value!
They are gaining in value like most English marques in great condition or restored!
A car that was very popular amongst bank robbers in the UK, the police had no cars that came even remotely close.
Until the police started using the rover p6 with the 3.5 L v8 ,it was named the jag eater
Fastened to the bottom of the trunk lid , from inside, there was a full , chromed toolbox.
Iv always loved the mk 2 they would have been so much more appealing with air/ power windows/ steering ect
Rather “bespoke” it would appear. A once in a lifetime ownership.
'One of the best engines ever made'....
'It is a Jaguar though, let's see if it starts' 😂
British cars were well none for electrical problems back in the day
Overdrive should only work on 4th gear! Jaguar put an inhibitor switch on the gearbox which some people disconnect. A beautiful Mk2 non the less.
Could this be used as a daily driver?
Great looking car. A car most everyone would want to drive and enjoy.
I LOVE THIS CAR🔥🔥
Very nice Jag, my dad had one just like it.
gorgeous jag
That is an absolutely awesome car. If I was in the market for one of those things I would buy it.

Absolutely stunning machine.🏆
He would be my best friend, if I lived nearby. God Bless people with his vision…and bank account
Undoubtedly, definitely, all Jaguars suffer from overheating and poor electric system. My father owned one , and it was a winter car .
No original tool kit?
Inside the trunk on the underside of the boot lid. chromed out.
Very nice car love them
Estatic satisfection
Kinetic art
Its beautiful but the poor SU carbs really put me off. Just think what some webbers would do for it! Would probably fetch £40k in the UK today.
Weber’s are always better but you have to like how he kept it like something Jaguar would have built.
@thebigpicture2032 and the SUs deliver better power curve for road use, rather than having to have it on-cam as you would with Webbers. And William Lyons would never have used something so uncouth as a Webber! :)
LOVE it.
I'd gladly pay $90k if I was in the position to do so.
People who restore the car to resell and make a profit, are missing the big picture
Sweet Ja-a-a-a-g!
A Beachem Jag over this
Exquisite.
Compare this with the new 'Jaguar'.
Bellissima e colore stupendo
Extra $45K?
Maybe $45K.
It's stereotypical to wonder if a Jag will start.
WOW AWESOME AMAZING FANTASTIC MAGICAL SUPERB TOP

I don't think so.

❤️
for those who care
I would never compare a Jaguar to a Cadillac in any era with a stupid comparison just not the same thing
that car is MINT
British vehicles are extremely touchy and are a PITA to own. If it’s not an XKE, who cares?!! It’s as exciting as an old Land Rover.
...... says the great Professor of All There Is To Know.
Zero interest.
Drool.
No. :0)
Car is not original - the owner thinks he knows more than the manufacturer...$0.
Understand but nope.
Keepitandloveit
£250k all day long 80k dollars rubbish the guy is talking B\S.
Nope. I wouldn't spend that much an any car.
Because you don’t have the money. This guy does. So what. 🙄
@@FYMASMD So what? A fool and his money etc etc....
Great shame Americans can not pronounce Jaguar...it’s embarrassing
Why butcher a classic?
Doesn't seem like he butchered anything if you ask me.
Start off with an example that's unrestorable. Not a one owner original.
That often winds up costing significantly more to restore that starting with a good car.
I see a few minor changes, not a hatchet job. Frankly, I would prefer this over a completely original car since it is more usable. Great video , great car.
I wouls spend this,
Lol... Never. - Not in this lifetime or any other.
_Perfect._ 🫡
